[h=1]50 Dalits in Haryana convert to Islam[/h]
Nearly 50 members of the Dalitcommunity of Haryana's Bhagana village on Saturday converted to Islam during protest demonstration at Jantar Mantarin the National Capital. The demonstration, organised by Bhagana Kand Sangarsh Samiti (BKSS) was against the alleged persecution faced by the Dalit community at the hands of upper caste Jats.
At the heart of the conflict in Haryana is the struggle over land and it's use and ownership by the poor Dalits which has been grabbed by the dominant castes.

It appears to be a case of desperation. Feeling alienated the Dalits thought that membership of a religious minority might bring them some succour. But I think this could lead to greater alienation. Solution lies in dialogue and persistence. The Dalits have certain privileges. These could be invoked through social and governmental channels. Religion offers no economic solutions unless conversion is based on pecuniary promise. That would be coerced conversion of a type. Third parties complicate maters, rather than solving them. Thw wise of the concerned community should use their counsel to let the tempers settle and resolve issues. Haryana is known for benevolent hierarchy of the caste. Should we not harness it for a sustainable solution?

Apparently their social and govt channels for help have been blocked. No help from anywhere as per their claims. Atrocities are rising as per them. No justice at all. But wonder how could a state machinery be that dysfunctional? Political class prey on issues like religion, regionalism, caste etc which makes state machinery powerless and ineffective.

Kuch din pahle guest teachers ne b dhamki di thi.....i think its a new way of blackmailing...nothing more

Religion is something personal. You do it for your own self. One thing more one can do it to respect the belief of others. There is no occasion for blackmailing other fellow religionists through the threat of leaving one's religion. A person may need a religion, but religion is not dependant on a certain person or group of people.

These people will repent soon and now they get different treatment by all communities of the area, also no harm to jats, totally short shortsightedness and wrong decesion
