Help me out , who is the decision authority for making New State . Or is it like koi bhi jhande lekar khade ho jaye , they would get a new state .
No..seriously. Enlighten us young man. what's the logic behind it? What she says make sense. On what basis they decided to carve out a new state? The area certainly didn't increase so it HAD to be population. The last time USA had a new state was in 1959 as if there had been no population increase for them? This decision is totally politically motivated.Taking short cuts to gathering knowledge, again, are we?
@maddhan1979, you wanted western UP. What's your take on this dude?

Newer states are formed so resources can be used better, proper governance can take place. Do some research around new formed states such as UK, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand and how they grew after being carved as new states.
And not just Maddhan, I would also want western UP to be a new state. Can you imagine someone fighting a case in Allahbad HC and travelling regularly from Bagpat?
There can be no better reply than this.

Well, from what I understand there are historical, social, economic and political reasons behind the demand for Telangana. But all of them burn down to the fact that the Telangana region was far lesser developed than the other two regions of the state of AP. That led to dissatisfaction between those people that inhabited Telangana and hence demanded a separate state.
But the timing of the decision can definitely be questioned as the recent Panchayat elections in AP and the impending general elections must have played a role. Deep analysis must have taken place to see what would be the loss and gain of seats with the decision.

If small states can be governed well then central government should itself go for forming the small states. It will not create any feeling of separatism.
I don't think that even 5% of total U.P. Jats want separate state 'Harit Pradesh'. Mostly Jats of the region seems to be satisfied with their worth in state. Not only Jats, but even non Jats of the regions are not interested. People never came on roads with flags in hands. Mostly people of the region think if it happens to be a separate state, then it's ok, but if not, then no problem too.

Congress was looking at a whitewash in Andhra. This is their attempt to cut losses. Andhra gave them 30 odd MPs - biggest chunk. Without split, they were expected to get less than 10 - maybe even 5. In coastal Andhra and Rayalseema, they are facing Jagan Reddy's onslaught. Without the division, Telangana Rashtra Samiti would have fought against them. With creation of Telangana, they are aiming to get seats in Telangana in alliance with TRS. And forget coastal Andhra and Rayalseema. Clearly politically motivated decision.
Having said that, I think on balance, smaller states are good for better governance.

I think India should move ahead of false nationalistic concepts of "Divide and rule". Such concepts are used to encash on emotional feelings of people. Such feelings are prapogated through media and other institutions.
A very simple example is "When ever there are elections all political parties will put on loudspeakers and start playing patriotic songs by different singers and when a soldier dies on the border there is not even a single politician to visit the soldiers family".
So in one sense this is emotional blackmailing and brain washing of people ".
India is, was and will be a secular state which strives on "Unity in Diversity". Different food, different thoughts, different ways of living, so people in India are free, this is a country which gives space to everyone and they are free to live their own way of life as long as they do not hurt anyone.
I think the main points that need to be addressed at this point is about major issues like:
1. Manageability of population
2. Manageability and proper utilization of resources inform of human resources, natural resources, etc.
3. Reducing pollution
4. Increasing education and awareness
etc.
Such things can only be achieved in smaller states, where it is easy to establish authorization and accountability.
Bigger states only cause misery and government/organizations make people run from pillar to post of the establishment without any result, making each ordinary person`s life miserable.
It becomes easier for corrupt people to escape in larger state.
The biggest challenge that bigger states and country like India faces today is management of population. We must remember India is growing in population, which will be equal to that of China in a decade or so, whereas land area of India is 1/3 of China.We can see, what is happening in China due to population pressure on land and resources.
