A sldiers Journey- Where the Young and younger of Jatland Meet

Sir I have lot of regards for you, but before some body points finger, I request you to avoide the use of this forum for above business communications. Regards

Brigadier Laxman Singh started this thread to tell about his book.
If we can talk about somebody else's book on the forum why not about our own book.

Somebody wanted the book and the Brigadier Laxman Singh helped him by posting it , is that just business? We should be happy at least somebody is writing the book in the community, hum to kitaab padhte bhi nahi , koi likh raha hai to usse bhi badhawa nahi de rahe.

I fully endorse Gunny bha's view point. Brig Uncle is not a pro writer nor he is promoting his book for the business. He wrote his autobiography passionately and dedicated it to his eternal divine love (Late Aunty ji). I must say it's one of the finest book I've ever read.

But I respect Col Kharab Sir's sincere advice as well and I understand in what context he urged that. Lately I've been observing that few guys here just don't pay respect to some very senior and elderly members here on JL. Few of them enjoy making fun, hijacking the threads and just feel good to argue or pulling leg of fellow members in vein. Elder members like Brig Lakshman Singh Ji is true gem of Jatland, but when I met him he showed his disappointment about few JL members. That's why Kharab sir's advised him to refrain from posting in threads bout the book circulation, I guess. Anyways, This is not a good practice here, mods should look into it more proactively.

On the other hand, senior members should also teach the naughty guys a lesson and twist their ear if they don't pay heeds. Leaving the forum or refraining from posting is not a progressive idea, I feel. Jatland is like an online village, here you'll got to interact with every kinda ppl on daily basis. But its upon us to maintain the decorum and keep it lively.

But on a serious note, disrespect to elderly n' senior members shouldn't be acceptable at all.

Rock on
Jit

Jit, thanks for your correct understanding & proper reply. I cannot think of disrespecting & objecting the brigadier, but after seeing post 17 to 23, I got varried that some body would write so many thing against such a elderly & respected family member & that was the reason of my request. My sincere appology to our respected Brigadier. regards

I have got da book plz give me address to send da money

Pushpender,
You can use personal Message service of Jatland or email id for one to one conversation. That would be better. Threads are normally for common discussion.

Others,

I find no problem in this thread. Brig saab has written a book and he is sharing with fellow members. It is much appreciated. We are proud of him.

But only issue is that some of the messages like "I didnt get the book", "Got the book", "I sent it", "Will send again".... kind of messages can be better disucssed in PM or over emails so that threads on jatland are clean and informative. Also, I believe there is no disrespect anyone has shown here for Brig saab...... then I dont know why people are writing essays on thread hijacking and blah blah here on this thread. ;) ... Khaa-m-khaa mein e issue!!

You are on the threshold of a difficult career, but your own choice, that demands priority over personal affairs.

I am posting an extract from the Preface of my earlier book 'Letters From The Border and Other Less Told Stories' that will make the message clearer. Best of Luck and A very happy new year , Poona must be heavenly these days I, lived in Pashan from 1965 to 1975 wen I ws posted to ARDE, BLS 31

….The delicate balance between the pride in soldiering, under most adverse circumstances, and the constant worry about the welfare of the family back home, mental trauma of the wife, the small child who had started calling his photo as uncle’s, his sick mother and elderly father, old but proud of the fact that the son was on the border doing some thing important and necessary as demanded by his profession…

….If the qualities required in a soldier, of being able to suppress his personal feelings and put the domestic problems on the back burner when duty demands get highlighted the purpose of this effort would have been amply served
