A Vote For A Change

My above post was as a sympathizer. As many of us have put it and I agree to some extent that he is one of us! But the same time, I disagree considering the ground reality that is different.

I didnt expect less. Moreover as far as ground realities are concerned,my views differ from yours. It might be because of the age difference we have. For me there is nothing such as ''ground realities''.There are many examples to learn from history that people who have made the difference are the ones who have never been 'practical'.Practicalities and ground realities are not for the ones who dream.

Regards.

His father formed a party and and brought him in politics. Other politicians brought their family members after they become famous, to carry on their legacy but for him, no big name to cash, no resources, no party following not even the many 'darbaaris' to organize. I think, they haven't even done any home work. They seems to be in a hurry!

Its not my father who brought me in politics. Its my ideology and my aspiration for the country which motivated me to step in.Even if he would have not been in politics, I would have taken the step.

Moreover, I believe in taking steps rather than waiting for the right time. Therefore I dont think that my step was in hurry,in fact I believe it was too late.

I believe, his platform is weak and should have started with any established party or brand name. There have been good people in the politics and every political party in the past and now as well.

I believe my platform is my thoughts.Brand names and established parties may collapse, but thoughts will always survive.

sumit i reciprocated my apprehensions in my earlier post. tell me, do you by any chance would like to cross-over to another party in not to far distant future ?... may be to firm a foot up the ladder or for any good reason tht can help you get near to yr goal.
p.s. : ... they say politics make strange bedfellows, hope this is not true in the case.

Q: tell me, do you by any chance would like to cross-over to another party in not to far distant future ?...

Did not you yourself gave a model answer to your own question?

Idea should be on maximizing the goal (objective function), everybody does that I beleive , just that the goal/objective functions are different.

How did Sumit do? Vote count?

Anyone know where we can check vote counts for these elections...
actual number of votes polled for each candidate?

Thanks Anil and Sunil.
Its a good start for Sumit and am sure he must have learnt a lot
from the experience that he can leverage going forward.

How much of the change?

Haryana has voted , neither the extremely confident ruling party got what they proclaimed ( or what they got in the Parliamentary elections ) nor the opposition's claims of getting the majority succeeded. I requested for a different and a Vote for a change and happy to recieve responses including encouragement and critic from some of you. Thanks to those as well who read this and gave a thought to it. As one of the fellow members said in the thread of Haryana elections , this vote count of 4549 for a totally newcomer and an young entrant into politics is no less than a victory. Being the demanding myself I would not call this as a victory but a step towards it.
A common man's voice was heard , people fled to the rallies conducted by Sumit and there was support and enthuthiasm all around. It gave at a minimum HOPE to all those who aspire to bring a change. HOPE to those who do not only think of themselves and their immediate familieis but aspire to be more. It gives democracy its inherent strength in making the voice of people heard even when elections are not around.
We are still to witness the final run for the posts and ministries , the usual "bargaining -game " and hope people will realise the true faces of some of the people who they voted for. They will distinguish the good from the bad , the fakes from the righteous.
What shall we do? At a minimum we have to FOLLOW UP. FOLLOW UP with those who we voted for and FOLLOW UP with those who aspired to be our leaders. Ask Questions on what and why of things. Ask about their work , their ideas , their suggestions. Make them leaders not only of the limited 6 months around the elections but leaders of every day.
I started this thread with a request to Vote for a Change for a person I definitely think can better understand the wishes of youth , the wishes of students and the plight of unemployed. I certainly respect people's opinion on the same. I end my original request ( not the discussion though) with another request, which is " KEEP US HONEST ". FOLLOW UP with us and remind Sumit of this in the time to come.
I will defintely want to come back with details on what and how and why of things as and when time will allow me.

Thanks,
Anil

what is the next course of action ?

1. make strange bed-fellows ? in order to take a foot up the ladder. sumit has'nt answered on this. if i take anil's reply as YES then what will be the criretia nd how much compromise he is willing to make on his goals/ambitions/ideologies/thoughts ?
2. get married nd enjoy a normal citizen life.
3. >>> most important... start yr home-work now for the next elections ? but (???) what's going to happen in next elections, may be he'll get double the votes, say 9098 votes... would appreciate further elaboration.

I believe my platform is my thoughts.Brand names and established parties may collapse, but thoughts will always survive.

They have their own plans to get into politics some day.I differ with all of them. Why 'some day'?Why not 'today'?People have plans like......let me settle down, let me earn this much of amount, let me build this much of contacts.......than I will get into politics.I just made a plan......that the call is youth should get into politics and take responisibilites and I will not wait for 'some day' in my life, You never know that we may not be even alive to witness that 'some day'.I have taken the step. This is only change I want to talk and discuss about. Why to aspire for being a doctor, engineer or any other professional, why not a LEADER.

My chances in election and for selecting a tough constituency?
''जो हो मालूम गहराई तो दरिया पार क्या करना?''

So much u can do to form a base. Elections are final culmination of what community service and good work one does in 5 yrs time. Although i am a no great expert, but this is how i would approach next election if i were u:-

1. Start a campaign for clean and green town. It could be Bahadurgarh or any other village of Beri.

  • Green drives to plant trees all around the town roads. School students and a general request may help a lot regarding the same
  • Tie-ups for Shramdan in parks and educating public not to litter.
  • Lobbying for more and bigger parks rather than concreate jungle (Just look at the amount of dust that is there in the air - It is difficult to breathe)
  • Educating villages to adopt greener and healthier practices in day today activity.

2. Constructive opposition to issues which are neglected

3. Holding Seminars/workshop for schools in order to teach them opportunities and skill development activities.

4. Organising sports activities and events in order to make positive flow of teenager's energies.

5. As of now a farmer gets less than 50 % of the value of their produce at market and of rest goes to "aadhti" (25-35 %), tax(6 -13%) and balance to transportation and stall owner (25 -10%). Passing maximum benefits to farmer will go a long way in making farmers sustain agriculture and keeping villages self sufficient and thus reducing the burden of migrating populations to cities. So, you see a simple economics and i am amazed when all our so called farmer leaders arent doing anything to solve this puzzle.

The list goes on if one is willing to work election or no election.

Life is a strange thing , is not it? So many things come a full circle at times.

Let him give some time to get back to you , The last (infact the first after the elections ) I heard ( and this was personal between him and me , but I dont mind sharing with you and all ) was to "start preparing for the next elections.
"
I told him these lines [[from a person who to me is an living legend in Indian democracy ( showing millions on "how" to do it ).]]

On a lighter note ( and this is only from the 'Bhramit Prakashit') , Rome was not built in a day! (Now you know what I meant by a full circle :).)

Getting 5% of votes as an independent (and standing 4th amongst 15-20 candidates), when you have just started, is not a joke. A journey of 1000 miles has to start somewhere. I don't know him or his potential. And I do believe that "right intentions" is a necessary but not sufficient condition for bringing (good) change. Nevertheless, full respect to him for taking a path not well trodden.

Independents do well in Haryana ... an independent candidate in Gurgaon from our constituency lost the election to the congress guy by just 5000 votes. If there is a talented independent - they have a huge chance of winning in Haryana.

Well done

Sumit has done very good start althought he has got only 5% of vote but he became a known face to the people in constituency , once i was also present he really spoke well with humar. People gathered only just to hear sumit. But let me know how many peoples in villages respect ideas, thoughts, values in a candidate. in my opinion Zero .They have nothing to do with all these qualities n abilities ,they have only thier personal interest or even not so much big interest but smaller one only streched to the job of constables, conductors etc. But we have proud that still sumit has done a very good start. At least he became a known face to every people with having somethings substaintial in him.

what is the next course of action ?

To Follow up on this question:

Sumit has already started to get back to ground work and prepare for next elections. He is currently on a campaign to "thank" people for their love and support ( many gave love to him but not vote as 25 seems too young for some :) ) . He will visit each and every village in this constituency.

Meanwhile , here are a couple of videos of the Beri rally ( just before the elections ) of the young boy:

I will keep you posted as more developments happen.

Thank you,
