AAP Led Delhi Government under scanner

The people expected AAP to be a role model political party and people chose it by extending overwhelming support in Delhi elections in the hope that they will deliver what they had promised. Instead of paying attention to governance they have started to fight at the highest level levelling charges and counter charges on one another right from national level to grass root level. What a strange 'exposure of greed for power' among the concerned leaders.

The proceedings of a few days clearly show AAP is neither a party with different type of democratic functioning within nor it has different ideology. In other words, the people's hopes are likely to be dashed to ground as the inner functioning of the party leaders has started to reveal the real face of power hungry bunch of two groups of 'leaders' who want to enjoy fruits of power at any cost, whatsoever. Those who have cobbled together majority in PAC and are around the people in power have started to push others out of decision making process, who want slice of power sharing in the government at Delhi. The fair name of the party is going to get black spots even if the party takes remedial steps to further escalation of differences to the level of parting ways between the bigwigs of AAP.

Though much damage has already been caused, this is the time for all concerned to bridge their differences in a democratic manner and save the party from looming large the danger of disintegration of AAP.

May God grant them better understanding to recognise that after the recent Delhi Assembly polls, the much marginalized BJP and completely decimated Congress will have the last laugh in this game of one-up-man-ship in AAP.

my own assessment is that mr sisodia will try to dominate decision making in app and ultimately will be responsible in destroying the party.

When Rome was burnning, carefree Nero was said to be playing on his flute !

This is the position in AAP, when the party is on the verge of disintegration due to infighting among the leaders and the Convener of the Party is holidaying to regain health for himself not for party !

Knowing how Mr Sisodia is concentrating power and his early dictatorial tendencies, my gut feeling is that this party will get divided within a year or two. Only six ministers out of 67 MLAs leaves too many of them literally without much power, work and influence. People coming into politics are not known to be very happy for long this way. Lust for power will create groups inside AAP and chances of division will be very high.

As of now, it is apparent that not only one person but all the top leaders seem to be in a hurry to concentrate power in their hands without having faith in power sharing norms in the functioning of a democratic party and its government. Really it ill abodes on the party which claimed to be party with democratic participation from ground level to top in decision making is groping in dark as how to deal with the top,

Perhaps, it is the biggest test of the leadership of the party to come clean on the charges and counter charges levelled by their once closest architects of the party ! Resign of Ms. Damania and elbowing of Prashant Bhushan and Yoginder Yadav is pushing the issues under the carpet and is no panacea to rejuvenate the faction ridden party. Deeper level pondering to find out real malaise is !

Personality clash and lust for power among the top leadership is clearly visible in the present clash of giants of AAP; and it will, if not curtailed now, in the long run could prove disastrous for the nascent AAP. Let us wait whether working relationship is restored among the top leaders or they part ways now or after some time ! The time is drifting and so does the party hold on the minds of its supporters.

Be it as it may, the shine of big victory has been blunted by the coming out of inner lack of confidence in the leadership of the Party convener.

OPINION page editorial --'More than sore throat....' in the Tribune, Chandigarh, dated 14th March, 2015 that exhorts Mr. Kejariwal to take timely remedial steps to allow inner democracy in the party to avoid split.

[h=1]More than sore throat[/h]AAP’s illness grave, Kejriwal has to speak up
In the real world, there is no such thing as immaculate conception, especially if it is a political party that you are trying to conceive. That is the knowledge that perhaps kept Anna away from Kejriwal's AAP. Just three-elections old, the newest party on the block is already beginning to look weathered (seasoned?). Deceit, ambition, jealousy, ego, greed — the bread and butter of politics - all have visited upon a party that was dreamed up as the ideal alternative not just by its founders but also the legions of its supporters. As the party's name suggested, many did not see it just as Kejriwal's party but their own. That alone could explain the 67-seat mandate in Delhi. From that also flow the extraordinary high standards that the party's supporters have come to expect of it. While it may be hard to accuse the party leadership of any criminality, a string of revelations regarding them and their recent conduct have left many of their voters squirming. Personality clashes and difference of opinion within the party are understandable — given the surprise electoral windfall it had — revelations that Arvind Kejriwal had anything but the most pious of thoughts regarding power violates the fundamental idea of the party, honesty. How bad is trying to engineer defection in a rival party’s MLAs (without paying any money) is a debatable point, but the standards AAP has to be judged against are those set by the party itself. The underlying factor in all these embarrassments is the inability of the party to settle how the massive power it has acquired will flow. While AAP is the result of a widespread movement and circumstances, there is no doubting the fact that it is nothing without IIT-Kharagpur's most famous graduate. But he must realise his loyalists are currently doing no good to the party by the way they are suppressing dissent. Kejriwal is the only one who can now step in to plug any breach in the ranks. He better find a voice, or the price he'll pay for the naturopathy will hurt him more than the cough.

Commenting on the mutual bickering in party leaders, Yogendra Yadava has said that this is churning of the party ideology and he was hopeful that Amrit will come out of these dissenting voices !

Just like future is uncertain, mood of the masses was on same line, and they Delhi ended up in hands of few educated crooks. Power was given to them on being different from other parties, but with every passing day things are changing. Self proclaimed honesty, deadlines set for various promises made are in lurch. No gainsaying the fact, the mood and hope before the elections, and the work parties do after winning elections is entirely different.

Not just Amrit, poison also comes out after churning....

Senior leaders of AAP have started exercises to fire-fight the dissenting voices in the party and a meeting of PAC has been arranged to chalk out further course of action to strengthen the organisation.

History repeats itself from time to time. The proceedings of the AAP meeting today are very shocking and are a bit similar as had happened in case of bickering and downfall faced by Janata Party and Janata Dal earlier in India.

Today AAP leadership stands divided between Kejariwal supporters and detractors of his style of running the party affairs including Yogendra Yadava, Shashi Bhushan and his supporters who have been shouted out of the meeting and four of them have been unceremoniously removed from the National Executive of the party.

Arvind Kejariwal as chief Minister of Delhi with brute majority of MLAs' support would have performed better if he had accommodated these founder members of the Party with a bit of accommodation and tact.

The personality cult has resulted in this clash of egos and it seems the down hill counting of the party has started too early. The people of Delhi who had voted overwhelmingly in favour of AAP would be shocked to learn about this bickering in the party with a heavy heart.

The fall out of pushing four members of the party to wall does not behove good to any democracy lover. The AAP leadership in power has shown that they are not different from any other political party in anyway. Their position and role in Delhi Government and their every move will now onward will be under more active scanner and their credibility as democratic party has received a big jolt. Let us see how long the coterie around the National Convener remains loyal to him or not.

Be what it is, in the words of YY "it was a murder of inner democracy in the Party.''

AAP came to power in Delhi to govern Delhi in transparent democratic manner as alternate to the functioning of other existing parties like BJP and Congress. But the scenes enacted at their National meet yesterday at Delhi to muzzle the voice of dissent and disagreement among some of the members of National Executive say a different story. The value of respecting one's right to agree with different point of view is known to go a long way in strengthening the intra-party and in party democratic party and institutions' functioning. The AAP has lost a big opportunity yesterday to show to the world that the party is in real sense a democratic institution.

Now, the functioning of the Delhi MLAs and Ministers would be more in line with the Party Leaderships' thinking and less on the needs of the constituency they represent because there seems to be no scope for them to voice their open views to raise demands of the common people who have voted them to power. Contrary to the style of functioning of the Party National convenor and CM as has emerged from some taped sting operations of late, participative democratic transparent functioning of the AAP in future could only wipe out the negative impression created by recent happenings in the party.

People even now have high hopes from the Delhi Government and want that the AAP government would fulfill its promises made during the election campaign and AAP Manifesto.

Would Delhi Government succeed in doing so is the million dollar question to which no firm reply seems to be possible at the present juncture !
