Hello JLanders,

As the name suggests this thread is all about english. This thread may be helpful to many of us who want command over the English language.
Here, on Jatland i have seen many ppl have command over the language but some lack in that. So those who lack and want to improve can make use of this thread.

Write anything withouth hesitation. Do not feel inferior to others. English is just a language but the point is English has owned almost whole market through out the world. So, there is no harm if we learn this foreign language.

How to use the thread ?

1. Ppl who wanna learn write anything but all in english with best possible languae they can use. Try to decorate ur sentences if u feel.

2. Do not hesitate at all. We are Indians and that too farmer Jats and this is not our langauge so there is nothing to feel bad if we dont know how to speak/write English. But we can put efforts to learn this.

3. Respected memebers who are gud in English, please correct the mistakes of others who are learning. Also, suggest if a word can be replaced by proper one, use of words properly and grammatical corrections and even the whole sentence can be replaced by some common idiom or phrase.

4. Please ignore the common typos but do point out if u feel its a spelling mistake.

5. Volunteers are required here. Help ur community this way at least where u just need to share ur knowledge and spend a small duration of time.

6. Do not use Haryanavi, Hindi on this thread if u r sincere towards ur learnings. Make it a complete English thread. Ask questions, reply , share experience but all in English. The best way to maintain the spirit.

7. All the best and beleive u have made it half atleast when u posted ur first reply.

Once again, Darna Sharmana manna hai. Ego ko maaro goli aur khao Angrezi ki goli.

Cheers :rock

Ballu if we use Does then we cant use "S" with verb and when there is did in a sentence then first form of the verb is to be used:)

I was looking into my cousin's (Nitesh - another Jatlander) grammar book of class Xth. It has given very good usage of "I", "we", "You" and "They" in all 3 types of tenses including 4 sub types of each tense. I really enjoyed reading it. Ballu, if you need, i can scan and send it to you. Pls send me your email id.

Pannu bhai,

10th sentence is wrong because a question has been asked in assertive way which is wrong.
e.g. : You coming to the party ? or You going to Delhi today ? , should be written like Are you coming to the party ? or Are you going to Delhi today ?

However, I am really curious to know about point numbers 6,8,19 & 20. What could possibly be wrong with 'em ?

Sunita ji,
Please explain.

I don't see anything wrong with the above two. Please clarify Saneeta.
What is this TT here? A person or some service?

For no. 10- Na bhai Sanjeev, koni bani baat. As far as I can understand your point I think that you are describing that the question should not have had 'must' in it? I say, we can frame an interrogative sentence using 'must'. Correct me if I am wrong.

You might have the welcome letter sent by TT? MUST BE here is only an assumption so we cant use MUST unless we are sure hence might is more appropriate.

No-06 -I will activate the call divert right away....the whole sentence is jumbled up and makes no sense, such mistake don't look like a mistake unless the person is well versed in comprehensive english.

Will itself is a verb so DO can not be used and then ACTIVATE itself is a verb so usage of all three verbs still the sentence is incorrect as its not structured properly:)

No 08- You want to try to remove that.

No 19- Credit will reflect in your next bill

No 20- It will be charged in your next bill

Sanjeev all interrogative sentences don't have to start with words like- why/what/when/is/am/are etc. as "INTONATION" plays an important role , thus how a sentence is spoken makes all the difference. The speaker and the listener know if a question is being asked just from the TONE in how it is said.
