Hi guys ! there was the Question in the examination (at Kandla Port, Gujarat) for getting "G CARD' for working in Custom. I would request your co operation, The answer of the question.

The Question is -----

25 X 25 - 624 + 1 = ?

It is simple answer is 0.

Simple rule is
Parentheses ,Exponents ,Multiplication ,Division ,Addition, Subtraction
to remember this rule
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally

Mr. Jaigulia is right.

Her answer is wrong.

Let me explain :

This should be the order of operatives :
Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.

So first of all Multiplication. it becomes :

625 - 624 + 1

Then Addition, so we have to add the positive numbers i.e.( 625 and 1). Now it becomes :

626 - 624

which is equal to 2

Perfect bro!! right explanation. Answer is 2. Ms. Gulia applied the same rule but I don't know how she got the answer as 0.

Answer the question

Deshwal Ji,

You missed the correct order of the parenthesis. :)

Round Brackets ( ) are evaluated first, then curly brackets { } and then square brackets [ ] are evaluated.

Vijay, Deshwal ji might have missed the order of parenthesis, but he is right it was a 5 second question, especially for those who were able to memorise tables upto 25 in primary school. In good old days, calculators were not in vogue in schools and children were made to memorise the tables and the BADMAS Formula (in fact BODMAS) which was very helpful. It was a mental math question for the primary school children, perhaps.

Right, i remember that my Math teacher used to ask me about the tables of 29 and 39 especially, which were somewhat difficult to memorise.

arthat aapne Angrezi me padha aur maine Hindi me, magar padhi ek hi baat. Is gyanvardhan ke liye dhanywad.
parantu jab itne bade bade shabd aur vakya, wo bhi angrezi ke dikhai dete hain to main thoda vichlit ho jata hoon sambhavatah isiliye main samajh nahi paya. aaj bhi main uprokt 5 shabdon me se 2 ka prayog nahi kar pata aur prayog karne se darta bhi hoon ki pata nahi kis shabd ka prayog kahan kiya jana chahiye. wo shabd hai "Paranthesis" aur "Substract".

remembering school days ..........
we memorised this mathematical operation as BODMAS,
and as far as I remember, the order of parenthesis is as written by Deshwal uncle, first square brackets, then curly and then round.
