Anti-Jat and Corrupt Congress

Baba ramdev is no different . Today he has turn over of 600 crore rs. His ayurvedic medicines are costliest. Tell me one thing he has done for people from Haryana where he learnt yoga free from gurkul funfed by farmers. He charges even for doing demo of his yoga. He should have made some free dharamshala at his peetanjali ashram but there also he charges for staying and food. even a small gurudwara/ashram doesnt charge but he being crorepati baba is doing that. we have become emotional form him but he has no emotions.

Well charging for services is not bad. How many free hospitals to you see today and how many people go to these free hospitals? "Quality comes at a cost" is a prevailing perception in the society. All organizations need money, even if they are philanthropic. Even organisations like GreenPeace need money. They have monthly charges for members, I my self is a member. (Let's discuss this further in Ramdev's thread)

I think this can be one of the best solutions.
http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/for-the-people/entry/mobilize-against-corruption

The country is passing through very trying times. The credibility of almost every single institution is under attack – judiciary, media, corporate sector, executive, politicians – the people have lost faith in almost every institution. I get phone calls from so many people every day asking what will happen to the country, where will it go?

A huge churning, samudra manthan, is going on in this country. Only time will tell what will come out of this churning. This is the time to seek an overhaul of our systems. Media played an excellent role in exposing corruption in CWG, 2G, land scams, Adarsh etc in the last few months. However, now is the time to seek systemic changes. Unfortunately, the media is not talking about these changes.

Some friends in the media tell me that there is a corruption- fatigue in the media. People might be tired of reading muck being exposed every day. However, they are looking for solutions. It is time that the media started talking about these changes.

Justice Santosh Hegde, Prashant Bhushan, Kiran Bedi, myself and others have drafted such a Bill. Rajesh Kalra and myself had written about the salient features of this Bill in our earlier blogs. You must have recently have read in the newspapers that Neera Yadav, former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh has been sentenced to four years of imprisonment for giving away government land to some private people at throwaway prices. Under the law, she can be in jail for four years and enjoy her ill-gotten wealth. There is no provision to recover the losses to the government due to her corruption. Likewise, even if Raja were convicted, he would spend a maximum of five years in jail, come out and be free subsequently to enjoy thousands of crores that he made.

In the draft Bill prepared by us, we have provided that not only should maximum punishment for corruption be increased from five years, but at the time of conviction, the judge should make an estimate of loss caused due to corruption and that money should be recovered from the culprits.

In response to my last blog post, many people had written that we should come on the streets. We are doing a march from Rajghat to Jantar Mantar on 30thJanuary, the day Mahatma was assassinated, to demand an effective Lokpal Bill. Please join this march in large numbers. You still have more than a month to mobilize people. Let me know how many people will you mobilize?

Moreover, you can not vouch for the integrity of his disciples which he is going to recruit for the posts of would be Parliamentarians. Also, his economic policies have not yet been crystallized. His vehement opposition to English language and everything English is another dampener. It would be too early to arrive at any judgment about his candidacy.

Indeed good points to ponder over.
Whay I made this proposal is that out of the existing ones he seems the best choice (assuming that his political party move does takes place in next elections).

For the other parties:
1. HJC:- Is Anti-jat. In fact they have recently organized non-jat rally (shows the castesiam)
2. Congress: Has been Anti-jat whenever headed by non Jat leader. (Has been ok for Jats otherwise). And going by the current situation, Anti-jat pillar is becoming stronger and in all probability next elections would be under a non-jat head.
3. INLO: Is pro Jat, however, his style of governance and certain policies have not been good for the state. So on a border spectrum things are not good.
4. BJP : Does not have support of the masses. Also the local BJP leaders have done little to comment upon.
5. Societies like Surjmal: - Are 100% castiest, imposible for them to get a mandate to govern.

So the only option remains is to try new ones, and the only new entrant is Ramdev's proposed move.

Note: I am fine with a non-jat leader as long as he is not anti-jat and is progressive and anti corruption outlook.

Arvind, I don't want you to disappoint but let me give you some first hand information about Baba Ramdev's candidature. I ve spent few days at his Ashram for a proposal which I had drafted for his movement. Guess what! He is different than present breed of politicians and leaders but it is only him and him. People around him and people approaching him are the same 2nd,3rd grade left over leaders,Ex MLAs, Ex MPs, MCs and same with kurta - Payajama wanna be politicians from other parties. He has been politicised internally even before he made it official to the populace. None of them let me meet him directly and after 5 days I left his place.

Even if people are willing to accept the change, I am afraid that it might be a repeatition of what we are facing nowadays.

You brought good insight Samar. More and more of these negative things should be brought up to the public so that they (Ramdev) have a pressure to change and people have the information to make a judgment.

Congress is just not anti jats but also anti hindu's.

This Hindu/Muslim Card is just a ploy used by both groups - Congress as well as the Saffron Brigade - to win elections. None of these two parties have any concern for common man or COMMON JATS. Most of the leaders in both the parties are thugs. People have to find some third alternative. BJP is also not a well-wisher of Jats. In BJP's kitchen cabinet parleys and informal gossips, Jats are pooh poohed by the Punjabi-Baniya-Thakur lobby. Only few Jat leaders like Sahib Singh Verma could reap some benefits during BJP Rule in centre.

Ajay Bhaisaab,

Am not sure about Baba Ramdev's political abilities but you're mistaken here, his medicines are arguably the cheapest one. I've used few of the products and I wud highly recommend Divya Pharam's products to everyone as they are less in price but superior in quality.

No surprise if Ramdev becomes a liquer baron soon. He has purchased thousands of acres of land in Scotland and might start brewing Ayurvedic non-alcoholic scotch whisky with the brand name "Ramdev Ayurvedic Single Malt Scotch". He is already filthy rich and has so many millionaires in the list of his disciples who are eagerly awaiting MLA/MP tickets in the next elections. Someone has recently gifted him a helicopter, which could be a booking advance for an MP ticket. He is a good Yogi but will prove to be a flop politician like Ayotollah Khumeini of Iran. There is no place for theocracy in the globalized world and India cannot keep pace with the fast changing trends of world economy following into Ramdev's footsteps.

Disclaimer: Information about brewing of scotch whisky is not authentic. Just a speculation.
