This is a question which i felt necessary to share with you all to have a opinion about us, whther we are conservative or liberal...

good one as you have used the word "we" i will have to do some thinking. had it been just "you" (i.e., the responding person) the answer would have been liberal.

Liberal - No doubt we are.
Conservative - This particular term has some negativity, I think, so far as "Jatism" concerned. When we r liberal most, n no doubt in that, कुछ रूढ़िवाद तो इसी में खत्म हो जाता है। Rest of all things come @ personal level. U can not blame the entire community for that negativity, if it has in it. बाकी कुछ रूढ़ियाँ भी हमारे वजूद को बनाए रखने के लिए जरूरी हैं।

..i never use these terms ..liberal or conservative...
... human behaviour or society is so diverse that a single tern cant define it properly..
..same person can be conservative for few things nd can be liberal for other things....
... nobody can be tagged conservative or liberal...

..according to my classification.. a person in a present or given decision making can be either CLEVER OR DUMB..(instead of lib.or cons)

..its my personal view..i might be wrong..

..clever when they are conservative ( save their culture,follow traditions wd proper judgement,marriage issues.etc etc.).

clever when they are liberal (giving and encouraging good education to new gen,showing diversity among profession,accepting new ideas, making sites like jl nd discussions )..

..the only time i find them dumb is when they fight on JL and show lack of unity in society..

I think we should be first clear about the definitions of conservative or liberal before giving judgement...

To follow or maintain your culture doesn't means clearly you are conservative....

...and if u want me to give a clear poll..then i will say jats are clever..(according to my criteria)

..as i intially said..defintion of liberal and and conservative doesnt not cover anything in jat culture in todays time..see u urself hv written in ur post that its not clear..
..u first tell us wt all conservative and wt all liberal definitions cover in jat community...
..by d way i m postgraduate in speciality called conservative dentistry ..and endodontics.
..bt smtime it doesnt cover all its contents...
..thts y i hv removed d terms as far as my opinion is concerned..because these terms are no longer applicable to any community..
..and also because i dont think that conservative and liberal are opposite term..yeah by meaning these can be...bt when u tag ppl wd it its not..

Bhai...I have started this thread by keeping in view some members opinion that they are very liberal and usually jats are very conservative...

rahi baat meri clearity ki, that was for some one else as we can not include cultural values as conservative views totally.

I am very much clear about the definitions and also, about the motive of the thread.. .

Oh No-No. I don't deserve these type of complements. I've learned this few, only because of the sincere people like U n the rest of the honorable JLs. अभी धीरे-2 और भी सीख जाऊंगा। अच्छी जगह पर बैठने का हमेशा फायदा होता है। पोस्ट दर पोस्ट अच्छे विषयों पर बहस होने लगी हैं। पोस्टों की संख्या में बढ़ोतरी हो रही है। कुछ अपनी मर्जी से पोस्ट कर रहे हैं कुछ आप जैसे लोगों की पोस्ट्स देखकर हौसला कर लेते हैं। निस्संदेह, एक दिन ये जगह(JL) और भी बहुत अच्छी होने वाली है। एक शेर सुनिए : -

I have also experienced that senior women put pressure on junior women to either remain conservative (more than them) and certainly not be more liberal than them.

bhai deshwal you have raised a right question.......I think we are not totally liberal but in the developing stage of becoming liberal....Conservative ppl are eliminating and so Gen-next would be total liberal...this would take some time.
Should i tell an example of conservative thinking:-

How many of us meet their "would be spouse" before marriage ? Are our parents Ok with gals-boys relationship?
even today many ppl in our Jat society meet their spouse after marriage. Relationship before marriage is not thought good even today.

Bhai Dagar...Baat to thik hai teri bhi..
But haan, cities main to I have seen dat people meeting there would be spouse before marriage or even they selecting there spouse and then asking there parents for maariage...and aise more then 60~70% case hongey shayad....And baki case isiliye arranged hotey hain as males are not so faithfull in maintaining the relations to marriage....
But again...To follow your culture is not totally conservative approach....
