Dear Mr. Teotia

Thanks for your valueable analysis.

The programme is virtually free, just 20,000.(though initially one has to submit 1 Lakhs)

There is no compulsion to join SCB either, one can switch to better offer (depending upon market scenario after a year, or 1.5 year from Now), with an option of assured job with SCB, else one has to return the stipend.

1. In this recession time, it's better to upgrade skills (for fresh graduates), than hoping for a job.

2. The programme is virtually free, one has to spend only on the initial 4 months living costs, after that a stipend of 10K is offered. even if one go for symbiosis correspondance programme that would cost 25~30K, alongwith a wait of one year, since the first sem exams for the next session would held in Jan/Feb 2010.

3. Looking at the course content, specifically designed for industry's need, unlike any other general pgdbm course.

4. On job training with bank itself, with stipend of INR 10, 000.

5. Decent Profiles are offered after course: Associate Sales Manager for Express Trade Products, Junior Credit Analyst, Associate Sales Manager for Liabilities Products.

6. After completion of job job with SCB or any of it's group companies.(not restricted to SCB only, SCB is the largest foreign bank operating in India).

7. Bank is supposed to employ these students at any cost, otherwise why would they spend so heavily on such Management Development Programme.

Also, It's in SCB's intrest, else they would have to recruit MBA Grads from premier B-Schools costing atleast 7-8Lakhs of CTC each...now this JV is costing just an investment of 70K per student and 3 Lakhs of CTC after that.

Corporates in india are now adopting a similar stratergy, last year Zensar Technologies started similar programme with Symbiosis with assured placement.

Ashok Leyland has similar tie up with one south indian premier tech school for Engineering Cadre requirements.

Pls: I posted this information, coz i thought it would be of some help to freshers. I'm also planning to quit my job & go for an MBA. And i've been shorlisted by the same college i.e, SIMS for it's general MBA programme, just waiting for the final results after SNAP exam, institute's own written test, gd, essay, pschometric test & 3 rounds of personal interviews.

i never said that its a bad opportunity..i have just presented a summary so that people should think before taking any decision....as every company is introducing their new WoW (Ways of Working)and its quite necessary in this recession time, so its an assumption that the market will improve thru such new WoW..but not any surity :).
