I agree but everybody is well aware about these things. Its all in determination.
Anyways, I don't want to change the purpose of the thread started here.
everyone doesn't include a guy who sat for the first time. Now he'll try to evaluate what went wrong. How much difference has come in rankings wrt score, comparing with his fellow friends who gave AIEEE, and scored good ranks, with a little difference in marks.
CAT is one such good example.
determination & stratergic planning for preparation are different things.
when u grasp things, starts scoring good in mock tests, determination & confidence get's high.
I've seen average guys in studies, fairing well in comptetive exams. I'm also an example..
Dear sir,
If you/child doesn't wish to drop for a year. And wanna take admission anyhow.
Please do consider a HUMBLE request to check for Institute's AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) affilation & credentials.
Now a days, colleges opens up in every nook and corner, and apply for AICTE's affilation late, after admitting students, and later their application get's rejected.
You'll be surprised, even IGNOU's few courses (for eg. MCA) are not approved.There are many good examples of reputated universities/institutes as well.
To your surprise out of 70+ colleges in haryana, only 38 are Approved one's having a total intake of 12785 students.

Few Noteworthy consequences.
1. Not eligible for Education Loans.
2. Not eligible for Govt. jobs.
3. Would face difficuilty in Higher Studies.

Dear Dharampal ji, with this rank it is difficult to obtain admission in some good college unless you are ready to pay huge capitation fee which I personally do not advise. So you can select a good subject in any Engineering College near your place of residence. The boy should understand that mere engg. degree is not enough now, he will have to work hard and do MBA later from some good institute.
Other options for the boy are many in case he is ready to go to other streams. He can do following graduate courses:
1. BBA
2. BCA
3. BSc Bio-technology
4. Dairy Technology
Of course later on MBA should be the aim.

I do agree....but the ques is abt LIST OF GOOD COLLEGES n also abt OTHER BETTER OPTIONS which a child can pursue. If what all u explained was in their mind then they might have not questioned d other things. Dropping a year is not in their plan right now.
Dahiya Sir again had listed good options n then abt MBA...it is getting like a necessity for all.
Recently, I joined as a counselor in some University and coming in contact with many such people who just want their ward to be an engineer without giving first consideration to capabilities, potentials and the knowledge of other wide areas where a child can excel. Even the candidate also wants the same. Though we tell them very clearly that it is unable to get the seat with AIR more than 3 or 4 lacs. But still they have filled the form to take the chance.
Dharampal Sir, pls don't take it other way as m not discouraging anybody here but u and ur son knows better about the competency level that the child can perform. So, now u have to decide whether u just want the TAG or want to see him at the better position after his completion of qualification.
Rest, all my best wishes are with child....maybe he do best at engineering and stands among say 5 or 10 who all comes under the notice of good organisations.

Thank you very much Neelam Ji. Your advice is valuable. I taken it. But my son is not ready to do anything else. When I presurize, he replied that atleast it is a good bechlor degree. After completion it I can do anything, which can be done on the basis of a bechlor degree.

Sir, m not a technical counselor but doing my job in best manner as much as I can do n striving to learn n aquire more so as to become more specialised n skilled. Still, here are my simple thoughts.
I had seen many students scoring high in next attempt and even that good that they got the chance in IITs n NITs. But again I would say the one word "DETERMINATION" is very much required. Aptitude is an inherent quality in every person n its level increases fastly at the age group of 10-16 yrs n after that it becomes consistent. So, that what is required is already attained, now the hard work, enthusiasm, determination & interest is required.
Generally speaking, there are very few cases who come out with better results by dropping a year as its not so easy to sit n study the same syllabus again. Though I agree that board preparations are different and objective exams preparation is other way. Still a student has to go through the same details to have a better grasp n need to practice the same questions which is very monotonous. The competition due to which a candidate lagged behind will be at higher level after a year, so there is no surity. Its just like taking a chance. 'n' number of brainy students are getting prepared for the next competition with extra intelligence one can imagine.
To Dharampal Sir,.....I can understand ur position but if ur ward is so desperate that he can take the engineering course that smoothly n confidently then don't go for the choice of college. Choose a best stream n let him go ahead. There are many opportunities waiting for him, as to make a stand in the competitive world one needs to be knowledgeable and skillful n then comes the experience. Kuchh bhi karna ho to simple B.Sc. bhi kar sakte hain.....uske baad ki options hongi.....M.Sc., MA (hons), MBA, MCA, UPSC exams, HSSC exams, doors of defence academy are also open, can join the merchant navy n earn heavy amount of money, etc. etc.
What Mr. Gajender asked is again something that will help you to decide the future.

Tricky always , there is another generation which is getting ready to fight you in the next year , but then you are also more experienced 1 year down the line.
In IITs we have a lingo called " tappa" , 2 tappe matlab 2 saal dropout , i have seen people with 3 + tappas a lot , so "karat karat abhaayas ... " works.
Though also seen one of my very close friends trying for 2 years and still could not get anything.
Another subtle point is where you set the bar. The reason I am saying this is because of the following example i will detail below.
Imagine a student trying to go for B.Tech and having to drop a year , the upside is that you have already set a bar for B.Tech and you will at least be forced by "yourself" to keep working for that bar.
But if you dont drop an year and go for B.Sc. you already have lowered your bar and your motivatiob might not be the same ,
all inherent human psychology to kind of relax.
I will take mine as an example , end of 1st year , i was sitting pretty at a rank of 3 in my batch , taking things in a relaxed manner and thought that 3rd is okey! Next semester the guys who were on 4th and 5th up-ed the ante and I had to follow in the fear of loosing my 3rd spot , eventually I ended as 1 , though really I was not motivated before for that.
Bottom line , if you strongly feel about dropping an year , no harm but make it count!

Dharmapal ji dont worry much.. Doing engg. from any private college in haryana is a same thing... Regarding ECE, We don't which branch will be doing well when he'll complete his B.Tech.. Electonic and computers are 60% same and Electronic and Electical are 40% same... so it realy doesn't matter... He can devlop his intrest.. Engineering is ike a minimum quailficaiton now a days.. so I suggest you not to bother much about college and branch..

sir ji i think i should let u know that the mullana university has been black listed by AICTE because of their decreasing standards
i am also persuing b.tec from jaipur in e&c branch..
i should let u know that mullna (after forming their own university) is now one of the the last rank univ. in india
n moreover from the last year companis have decided to take off campus placements....so no matters where your child get admission...it's upon his hard work...aache bacho ki placement to ho hi jati hai
n if you want your child to have a gud career then you should tell him to persue only civil engineering..because
1- there is increasing demand of civil engineers
2-wide scope to get government job
3-you can also open your own construction company
4-work load on civil engineers is less
mujhse to galti ho gayi bt mai nahi chahta ki koi aur ye galti karee...
n plz kahi bhi donation de kar admission mat lena...baad me bahut dukh hota hai..
and as i am in the same line...aur mai aak kal ke halat se wakif huu to mai aapko sahi rasta bta sakta hu...

sir ji, i think this is good stage to consult the different things but be careful its a big thing that you consulting here. i read all the suggestions given by different people. but i think , it going to make you even more confuse. i m also an electrical engg. and i also hav faced same short of situation. make sure that you make a decision which is write for your son, you should not bother , what people suggesting. i think you should take opinion of your son, thats most important. there is always opportunities for people in every field but no.1 position is always vacant. so if your child do well whatever field he choose, going to make him a good engineer.
Mechanical and Electrical are evergreen branches. consider it.
