I certainly agree that this vice of bribery cannot be eradicated overnight. I know one of my relations who is a police officer. He wanted electricity connection for his tube-well. He was in every sense persuaded to pay bribe to Haryana Electricity Board people to get his work done. He refused and took leave from his department for getting his work done vowing not to pay a single paisa as bribe. After his struggle for 19 days he ultimately got his work done. When finally his papers were signed by the relevant officer he came out of his office triumphantly. Even in his moments of joy the peon said: "Choudhary Sahib aapka kaam ho gayaa, kuchh inaam to dijeeye." But he was blatantly answered: "Are you not getting salary? I have invested my 19 days' leave for this work which was to be done by you people so ask your department personnel to compensate me by giving my salary of 20 days."
What I mean to say is we need
1). very great will power
2). ready to make sacrifices
3). an honest promise with our 'self'
only then we can enjoy and set example.
We need to decide who is greater sinner- this bribe giver or the bribe receiver.
I personally believe that bribe giver is more at fault to promote this heinous sin of bribery!!!
