Gurgaon: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said his government cannot ensure 24-hour electricity supply in the state in the present situation, going back on a poll promise.

"We will not be in a position to provide 24-hour power supply in at least our current tenure, but we may do it in our second tenure and will surely review the present situation," Khattar told IANS.
The comments came as the state government decided to increase the electricity supply to the industrial sector by cutting the supply to the rural and urban areas by a couple of hours.
"The government has decided to supply more power to the industrial sector. So a couple of hours of the power share of the rural and suburban areas has been shifted to factories," a senior official of the Haryana power utilities department, who did not wish to be named, told IANS.
According to the schedule announced on 10 December, 2014, 14 hours of electricity was to be supplied to rural domestic consumers - from 2.00 pm to 4 pm, 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm and from 11.00 pm to 8.00 am.
But, as per a new schedule implemented on 2 January, 2015, villages would get only 11 hours of power supply from 5 pm to 12 am (midnight) and from 4 am to 8 am. But these 11 hours of power supply too have now been reduced by a couple of hours.
The move has irked the people as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders had assured them 24-hour power supply in their election rallies prior to the Lok Sabha and assembly polls last year.
The BJP has a clear majority in the 90-member Haryana assembly.
"We feel cheated. On an average, we are getting eight to 10 hours of power supply, much less than under the previous government," a resident said.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav told IANS: "It's a fraud on the people of the state. The government which promised to give 24 hours electricity supply is actually reducing it after coming to power."

If they pass statements like this they will soon lose the support of people in Haryana , Industries are imp but people in Rural and Suburban areas play an important role while electing the govt .... CM ji please dont cut power like this other wise its will become very difficult for you to survive in Haryana politically :)

Poll se pahle ke waade poore karne ke liye nahi hote, I remember Chautala's statement long time back he gave a date of June 2004/2005, kee Haryana would have 24 hour electricity from that date, now it is 2015.

Another example is
If you remember Modi talked about Pink revolution and India is the biggest exporter of beef in the world. But I do not think he would do much on this front, because it is a uphill task.

So how we can compare one govt to another ?
My personal opinion is just by their work at the end of term, not by what they promise to get elected.

If we feel work done is not good enough, we can always bring back Rahul Gandhi, wo kitt Italy bajja jaa se....

In villages people do not pay any Electricity Bills .....never .....

One of my family frnd statement -----Humne toh kade bijli ka bill na bhara , arr na hi bhare , pehle Chautala ne maaf kar diye , phir Hooda , eib yo Khattar mhare te bill bharwavega ......dikhe hai poori 5 saal chalani koni isne sarkar .

This Electricity fiasco ....n many other issues specifically related to Villages woould create serious hassle in Haryana .

People shouldn't let any Govt get away with false promises. Any Govt which doesnt fill its promises should be taught a good lesson.

Mr. Khattar said the right thing. Electricity generation, distribution and other related fields need to be restructured. Looking at the electricity situation in and around Delhi states there is a need to develop renewable power grid structure. Which is non existent in these areas. In future this has a direct konnektion to air pollution levels in NCR region.

The root of the problem is corruption. Electricity department is hand in glove with the industrial power thefts. They than try to make up with the loss from urban areas.
Unki dadagiri ke samne kuch nahin kar sakte, ek ke baad ek bill wrong bhejtain hain aur kahtain hain office ka chkar lagawo (... meaning you can make out).

Has there been any study as to industrialists fail to pay power bills or the farmers fail to pay? I mean who leads the chunk of defaulters?

I know an industrial sector where dozens of factories are running only due to power theft. The production efficiency in these factories is such a low that they would go into negative profits without power theft.
