HI Jat Members, Ram-2.

One of my cousin has got very good ranking for admission at Murthal Engineering college Sonepat. Now he need to make the decision which field to opt?
Here is list which I think and suggested him accoding to future trend in jobs:

1. Bio-Tech
2. Computer Science
3. Electronics & Communications
4. Others fields... You can suggest

I think Bio-Tech is most emerging market since few years and this field would be offering great Jobs in next 5-10 years.
Computer Science would also stay nearest competitor in providing many challenging jobs.
And My third choice is Electronics.

I would request all you to write your suggestion, experiences and future job market forcast according to engineering fields. Which field you feel would be great in next 4-10 years.
That would help my cousin to make right decision at crucial juncture of his career.

take care
Gyani

Although Bio-tech is still nascent technology, I would agree with your ranking...
Number 4 should be Electrical or Mech

Goodluck to your cousin!

Jat Bhaiyon..
Please post your more feedbacks....He need to decide before July 27.

Gyani.

i am passout of murthal.passed in 2001. Not usre abt bio tech but i would rate electronics above computers. it widens job scope as both computers and core electronis are open to you. computers is computers.
U just need to learn a language or two and switch to computer is no big deal.
i had electronics and m in computers now.
rest depends on your interest.

Hi Gyani
Don't opt Bio-Tech at Murthal. You should look for this branch at other reputed institutes. I really doubt Bio-Tech faculty at Murthal...and the labs needed for this degree.
I would put Comp. Sc. at first place and Electronics at IInd..Mechanical and Electrical follow.

In some reply it was mentioned that he should drop for one year and improve ranking to get admission to NITs or other good institutes. Dropping 1 year doesn't really matter but good institutes really matter in the end!!

Try it.

How does Civil Engineering look?

For the rapidly improving lifestyle of the neo-rich tech. generation and in an upwardly mobile economy, I foresee a huge demand for fancy homes and improved / better infrastructure (roads, rail lines, airports). Someone has got to design/construct all those fancy homes and make big bucks in the bargain. I know that construction activity in India is not regularized as much as it is here in the United States; but, that should change in the next 10 years. Do you guys see any of this coming or is it just me (a civil engineer) dreaming of good thing for my brethren back home?

With everyone being so enamored with computers, electronics, bio-tech etc., who is going to design/build the infrastructure – buildings, roads, bridges, sanitation, drainage systems, airports etc.?

The mad rush for computer engineering will create an inevitable shortage of civil engineers esp. since more and more homes will have to be built in conformance with stricter building codes. Just food for thought!!!
