Apart from the technical details like the former comes under MHA while the latter comes under MOD,what other differences are between the two forces like their modus-operandi,risks,facilities and particularly the difference between asst cmmndt in CAPF and say lieut/captain in the Army.

I have heard of CRPF. Is this CAPF a new force and what is the full form of it?

CAPF is Central armed police forces, this new terminology was introduced in 2011 on the request of Army.

first lot is police force controlled by state

Generally, there are three police force set up in each state , ( is First actual Police force including traffic etc, second one is armd police to control the situation beyond normal police set up (this is named as PAC in UP) and third one is home guard)

second lot is controlled by MHA and top posts are led and headed by IPS officers. these forces assist to MHA and report to MHA
CAPF is used now for this lot. these are CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, CISF,RPF, NSG

third lot is forces led and headed by Army / Navy officers. these are
Assam Rifles > led and head by Army officers , assist to Indian armd forces but reports to MHA
SFF (Spl Frontier force) >led and head by Army officers, assist to Indian Armd forces but reports to Indian Intelligence
Indian coast Guard > led by Navy offrs and reprts to MOD also

earlier second and third lots were called as paramilitary forces, but now "paramilitary forces" is used for third lot only

still a lot of confusion is there

Egg-xactly

In 2011,govt came up with a much clearer definition that paramilitary forces are those which are led by military official and Central Armed Police Forces are those which are led by Police officer of IPS rank.

But that is just definition theory.Still my question remains unanswered.

dear friend donot waste time in comparing .both are good.you just get through
Nope,it isn't wastage a time but a way to have a better understanding of the things. Both may look alike but certainly have differences. And it's always better to know about these things before you make choices,no point in getting aware of it after a particular choice is made.
JL has plenty of members with defense background.Surely they can come up with some pellucid material.

Na

This is a big topic & will require lot of search & is subjected to individual choice/options. Choice of service and arms even in triservices is a big topic in itself.

The Status of superiority complex exist in even defense eg. Fighter Pilot will feel superior to Chopper Pilot, Chopper Pilot will feel superior to Ground duties staff.

Same goes with Army: ex NDA's will feel superior to OTA (Short Services) & ACC commission officers.

Good thing is:- Paramilitary forces personals will also get ex servicemen status (notification issued last year), and can apply govt jobs meant for this quota. Status of ‘martyr’ to jawans and officers of paramilitary and police forces, who have been killed in the line of duty is also currently in consideration.
