An apt statement must say ! And I believe this happens coz mediocre minds often fail to see those ideas in that light in which the bearer of that great idea must have seen it..... they lack that 'eye' and often turn violent to see an out of place, yet a great idea ....

Newton used to say that the earth is round and the mediocre people opposed it like anything......

There are ample of such examples and will always be ....

A new idea will always recieve opposition, Specially the kind of revolutionary ideas that einstein and newton used to come up with... Its not from mediocre minds, most human beings are resistant to change....

and how do u define wht is a "great idea"???....only when an idea has been implemented tht we come to call it great....and the people who opposed it initially become the villains...
karl marx championed socialism....was hated for tht ...but russia defied everyone and became a super successful socialist state....our own chacha nehru hailed socialism...but wht happened??...where is socialism now??...even people who championed it then moved to capitalism....

neelam ji iska conclusion hai>> samay bada balwan!!....kabhi koi idea hit aur log bewkoof aur kabhi idea flop aur log sayane!!

Baat to sahi hai Kuldeep.... what I feel is all mediocre minds are against any creative or intellectual ideas.... they just like all the fan fare kinda activities.

Short questons deserves succint answers , here are my 2 cents in bullet points:

1. Normal people do lack the vision embedded into that idea ( on the assumption that the idea is really great).

2. Humans in general are resistant to change.

Men are strong only so long as they represent a strong idea. They become powerless when they oppose it.

Sigmund Freud
Austrian, Psychologist

I think that this is in furtherance to wht has been quoted by Neelam. As that violent opposition doesn't stand for long and at the end of the day every mediocre person is powerless in front of a a strong idea.

Well Freud himself was so DIFFERENT , so i expect the words from him , though the correct ones!:)

hmmm

1. when i was a child i used to think why cant the whole world behave wise.

2. now i have realised. the world isnt made that way, every one cannot be equally evolved as far as thoughts and realisations go.

3. i wouldnt call it greater, higher or bigger, thats just our genetically programmed compulsive obsession to be greater than others. i would definitely say some people have vaster perspectives/vision while thinking. vaster or narrower visions are also just possibilities.

4. todays tragedy is that brand building and image selling has taken away from the world the possibility of getting exposed to quality intellect. but thats how the world is made. not every one will be Budha.

title of the thread should be....great ideas vs mediocore minds.i think its very simple great ideas go well with great minds.mediocre ideas with mediocre minds.neel what were u trying to coney when u said mediocore minds like fan fare activities.....i did not get that.

yes navin ....u expained it so right

... "i hear it all the time but I don't bother to worry about it". ;)
time decides whether the ideas were creative nd intellectual... folks only remember those ideas tht clicked, laughing at them initially but later calling them creative nd intellectual. there could be 1000's of ideas tht n'vr clicked hence were n'vr called creative or intellectual... i wud say its is better to hv enuff ideas for sum of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all... vry simply the distance btwn insanity nd genius is measured only by success.

wat wud u say on another quote frm einstein... "
If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it".

brainchild of einstein... e=mc2

... wat n idea sirjee !!!

gr8 idea... isn't it... adam nd eve will be born agn after the dooms day.
:( !!! :( ... blame it on mediocre minds :( !!! :(

Oh Freud was unique...what he dared to think n made other also ponder, i guess no one else could ve done that.

Ritu in my opinion the title is perfectly apt.... when you think creative n others are there to oppose that,,, thts conflict of thoughts.
Well by fanfare i meant they believe in n admire ostentatious display, show off kinda activities, flattering etc. rather than recognizing, supporting n appreciating something which is worth recognition. Forget abt acknowledgingn supporting, they rather become barriers in accomplishing.

It was the conflict between Einsteen and his wife which probably generated this quote. What a brilliant mind wasted in physics and fitghting with spouse.

Great ideas don't need validation from mediocre/average minds.Quite ironical but true , out of 100 , 95 folks would be mediocre so democracy wud rule among them.

... here's the actual quote:

"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence."

sigmund freud has also said sumwhere tht man is born neurotic. this is a half-truth, cos man is not born neurotic, but he is born in a neurotic humanity nd the society around drives everyone neurotic sooner or later. man is born natural, real, normal, but the moment the newborn becomes part of the society neurosis starts working...
