I do not agree with you Sid. Government should produce electricity and distribution & collection of revenue should be private. I see the same arrangement here in canada and it is quite successful.

You should see the arrangement in Gurgaon. My father pays the electricity bill - the rates per unit are higher than canada and they donot get it for 24 hrs. There is lot of fluctuation .... yada yada yada .. you know the situation. If I am a paying customer, then I should get electricity 24 hrs without fluctuation.
In my mama's village, they get more electricity than us ... and they don't even pay the bill.

Canada also has a 100% literacy rate, it has a more responsive citizenry and governemnt.

BTW, why don't you stop paying the electric bill and see if you still get electricity in Canada.
