Correcting the Wikipedia article on Jats

For quite some time, I have been trying to remove the quite erroneous and silly statement labeling the entire Jat community as "traditionally non-elite tillers" on the Wikipedia article about Jats (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jat_people).

I am quite suspicious of the moderator of the article 'Sitush' and his/her favoritism for a quite poorly researched 'text' book called the Case, Society and Politics in India By Susan Baylyl; it seems to me that Sitush is herself Susan Baylyl and simply defending her work despite numerous quotes from well established historians quoting from primary persian accounts from the 16th century to 18th century which prove the opposite - i.e. that there where Jats who where prominent rural elites in the Khalisa lands (of the Jat belt), in service directly to the Mughal Empire as wealthy martial clans involved in agriculture; and unlike rajputs, did not create a structure of sub-'jagirdari', and did not bother to establish themselves as 'Kshatriya' - through patronage of literary tradition of local brahmins and bards.

Anyway, does anybody have any idea how to 'establish consensus' to remove the statement. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Jat_people
