Decision to ban girls from wearing jeans

Recently khaps endorse decision to ban girls from wearing jeans.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...ls-from-wearing-jeans/articleshow/7311558.cms

They said it is necessary for preventing young couples in their villages from eloping and to stop eve-teasing.

Is it right?
Is wearing jeans is responsible for all these crimes like honor killing, eve teasing?

mujhe to lagta hai ki buddhe pagal ho gaye.

hmmmm muje lagta hai budde har baar galat nahi hote .... This is not the way to address our own elders :(

taali dono haathon se bajati he ,youngster agar kissi cheej kaa galat istemaal kar rahey hongey to uss par partibandh lagaaney me koi haraj nahi ,kuchh galat karaney waalon ke kaaran sab par iskaa asar hotaa hey.aagey aaney waali pidhi bhi aapko pagal kahegi.jab aap unkey anusaar nahi chalogey ,er koye bhi biraadri ke budhey sayaane samaaj ki bhalaai khaatar-a koye feslaa lewey sein.

shayad har baar nahi galat hote.pifle kuch dino se to glat hi ho rahe hai.koi bhi decision theek nahi le paa rahe.jeans ban karke konsa acha kaam kiya.agar decision lena hi tha to sharab ko ban karne ka lete.
wese dekha jaye to dhoti bhi ban kar deni chahiye.
mujhe nahi lagta ki girls ke jeans pahanne se koi prblm hoti hai.

sahi decision hai ban ka agar aap gaon main rehte hain toh gaon ka culture aapnana chahiyeh, aur agar shehar main toh shehar ka. abb yeh to wohi baat hogai jaise kissi tipical gaon wale ke samne english bolna. so ek kahawat hai jaisa desh waisa bheshok.

Ban it for boys too...

Dear All,

I read an article a few weeks back which speaks about a scientific study carried out. It came out with a finding that men who wear jeans usually have less sperm count than those who don't. There is a biological reason for it and I am sure members can find that out.

Therefore, to ensure that our next generation is able to produce strong children and pass on healthy JAT Genes, we should first ban boys from wearing jeans.

Best regards,

JS Malik

bhai culture mai bahut kuchh aata hai.kon apna raha hai?gaon mai mein bhi rahta hu.
ye kisne kah diya ki jeans sahar ki culture hai.aise to suit salwar bhi nahi pahanne chahiye.wo bhi kaafi der se chalan mai aaye.
sleeveless suit ya partialy transparant clothes ko ban karna chahiye.
everyone knows jeans are safe for girls.gaon ki culture to ye bhi kahti hai ki gaon ki sab ladkiyo ko apni bahan maano.kitne log maante hai?
sahi decision hai ban ka agar aap gaon main rehte hain toh gaon ka culture aapnana chahiyeh, aur agar shehar main toh shehar ka. abb yeh to wohi baat hogai jaise kissi tipical gaon wale ke samne english bolna. so ek kahawat hai jaisa desh waisa bheshok.

This is surely over the top..won't endorse this line for sure,..
And regarding main headline of this thread..would like to discuss beyond just eve-teasing...A bit of Devil's advocate Role:
1) YOU can't say that nothing bad or eve-teasing sorta things happens in muslim region or country and there the women wears full body gowns and even cover there face...WHo Says BURKA Wearing WOMEN Are NOt suFFerers
2) Can't really testify that horrible things like rape happens only with ladies or women wearing jeans or in biknis..take a look at the national capital itself...Even the foreigners who dress in proper Indian attire are not spared

No doubt that our desi attire of suit, saaree, dupatta and all is really the best...A real patola is one who can look beautiful in suit(more of a fact really)..abd there is absolutely no need to shed clothes..But again the question arises of the thin lines between Being Modern and Being Vulgar..

And really man time for some hard reality check...in the end its the boys who are eve-teasing girls and nd doin much more serious than just eve-teasing...so cord should be pulled on them

to mr tomar.
watever u said is not correct...lemme giv u n examplee if u c a beautiful female in salwar kamezzz u would definately look her her but u wont stare at her but if u c a seherr ki chori in a short skirt thn u gonna stare at her..dere is a difference between staring n lookin normally..our elderss doesnt want same thing happening in villages to as it is happening in cities lik delhi n mumbai where females only wear clothes just to cover few body partss..m not a delhietee even though m in delhi for more thn 25years.i was born in a village near mayyar hsar.n believe me whenever i go deree dont feel lik comin bak to delhi.....delhi is gattin worse day by day..now if we allow our daughters n sisters jeans n skirts tomorrow they gonna b more open n would start drinkin....thn people lik u would say ki 21century let them do it....for me skirt jeans n all other dirty clothes should b banned in whole indiaa.

No surprise, if a ban on the ‘western’ lingerie also could be in the pipeline. This seems to be something in line with the dress advisory recently released by a famous Swiss Bank UBS which prohibits wearing coloured underpants by its lady officials. Our elders are not far behind the UBS elders in dress prescriptions.

While introducing a piece of coarse cloth to the ‘Native American Cowboys’ in 1873, now known as ‘jeans’ in common parlance, Mr. Levis Strauss had no idea in the wildest of his imaginations that this piece of rug would be a bone of contention thousands of miles away on the sacrosanct “Jatland” 137 year later. He never thought the Indian cowboys would be so vehemently critical of this comfortable outfit and would consider this as a cultural aggression on their closely guarded sacred dress code.

The idea behind invention of this dress was to find a more durable and enduring dress for the cowboys befitting their rugged life-styles. Over a passage of time, it came to be recognized as a symbol of fashion. There is no doubt; the preference of our cool dudes for denim jeans is, certainly not for the sake of its durability or endurance. They rather adore it to look more smart and confident. But, what is the harm? Does it reveal their sexuality more than the transparent siphon or georgette suites?

Jean is my own most favourite outfit and I find it very comfortable and sturdy dress. The best advantage is that you don’t need to wash it as frequently as the other ‘desi stuff’. It also covers the relevant body parts properly. It is very cost effective too in the long run. By no means can it be considered a symbol of vulgarity. I do not see any harm in ladies wearing jeans. Frankly speaking, ladies wearing salwar kameez are more prone to teasing and molestation while travelling in public transport viz. buses and trains. (I have a first hand knowledge as I have travelled a lot in DTC/Haryana Roadways buses and local trains). I am not able to digest the logic of the ban imposed by our elders/khaps against wearing jeans by ladies. Learned members who are supportive of this fatwa may kindly explain demerits of the controversial clothing which I may not be aware of.

Dear, before taking such type of any public decision, issue involved should be spread for public discussion and expressing their views. In doing so, all pros and cons can be considered and modelities can be brought, such as only tight jeans or lower waist jeans may be banned both for boys and girls, though not required. Further there are other dresses also such as mini skirts or transparents which require more attantion to be considered before jeans. However it is a fact that wearing of jeans by girls in proper form is comfortable and safe for the girls. the girls should also express thier views.

I still can't understand how can stopping from wearing jeans will inculcate good moral values n etiquette, can you explain?

If you have been living in Delhi for 25 years? have you never seen girls drinking n smoking? High society's ladies clad in Satya Paul's sarees or Biba's suits can be seen drinking n smoking in parties. Good n bad is all around, it depends on people how to suit them selves, what to pick n what to leave?
to mr tomar.

A short western top is as exposing as a short kurta with long side cut or a kurta with a long neck cut.

When it comes to comfort, hygiene and culture then yes, traditional costume is far better. However, it makes more sense to encourage people for adopting traditional dresses then banning western dresses. For example, saying something like, I find Aishwarya Rai more beautiful in salwar kurta and sari then jeans. In fact she doesn't look good in western clothes. - ;)

I agree that girls should not wear tight fight (specifically in villages or small towns, not applicable in metropolitan cities or offices if suite is not a dress), the reason is most of us (young guys 14-30) are not mature enough to decide where/when to stop in case of distractions. And if a girl is not exposing herself chances of eve-teasing are very low.

As per the sperm count goes studies don’t blame jeans for that. http://health.ninemsn.com.au/whatsg...3/does-wearing-tight-jeans-make-men-infertile

So if tight pants don't cause infertility, what does?
"The cause of infertility in males can vary, often we don't find a reason why sperm counts are reduced but the obvious ones are certainly poisons and toxins that we're exposed to such as smoking cigarettes, social drugs but also other chemotherapy agents, infection, trauma to the testes — lots of things can upset the way the testes normally produce it's sperm," says Dr Gordon.
And if you happen to like hot baths, think again. Studies in Japan and the US suggest taking a bath at 42 degrees, three times a week, can significantly lower your sperm count.
The good news is, it's reversible. Just wait six to eight weeks and your body will make a new batch of healthy sperm.

दामन और स्किर्ट में क्या फर्क है? : I think below images may be a help:

In his / her early age one is not mature enough and permission to wear these dresses adopted from west , increases the possibility of more attraction towards opposite sex . for girls its like they get more comments / fake care and attention from boys, and thus closeness increases that subsequently increases teenage affairs ... and most of them are innocent enough to commit any serious mistake under inspiration of these MTV ... VTV and movies...

A Typical JAT thought ...JAT ladkiyon ko jeans nahi pahenni chahiye.... baki other caste ki ladkiyaan ko sirf jeans hi pahenni chahiye. :p

The main purpose of clothes is to cover the body and to protect it from the external elements like dust,hot/cold weather etc.
The various factors which should be considered while choosing the dresses are weather, place and time. Jeans is not a bad choice for girls provided that they don't reach the vulgarity level by wearing tight jeans. Infact, suit salwar and jeans are better outfits than Saree.
Eveteasing will always be there irrespective of clothes until and unless the road side Romeos are not taught a lesson.
I believe the time to is to pay attention to bigger issues which are really much more important.

For Harender- We should respect our elders and should not use this kind of language for them.
