This is a moment of pride for me which i want to share with all the members of jatland 2day. After winning NATIONAL AWARD for my first feature film LAADO my second venture called DHOOP released here in india on 7th of november. A post kargil film starring om puri revathy sanjay suri and former miss india gul panag DHOOP has created a very positive buzz all over. it has been called as indias answer to the oscar winning film erin brokowich and compared with oscar winning german film IN THE BEDROOM. all the newspapers magazines and the electronic media has stood by the film as a honest heart renching story. Based on the true story of shaheed capt. anuj nayyar of 17th jat regiment who laid down his life in kargil DHHOP makes people cry touchs a chord smwhere n makes one think and ponder even after the film is over . The dvd of the film is available all over the world in indian movie stores on the lable of venus and the music cds are there on universal label. take out sm time n watch DHOOP and i would appreciate ur comments and criticism on the site as it would enable me to grow and make beeter films in future.

congratulations from my side and i will definitely gonna see ur movie and then let u know my views.

firstly let me congratulate u for being a feather in the cap of jats by doing very well in art and cinema .i understand u must have been working doubly hard as we jats, only have agriculture instead of culture .....jokes apart it was indeed a matter fo pride to identify with u. we are very proud of u ....sir .
i had gone through the review of DHOOP in one of the leading newspaper and it speak very well of the movie . i for once decided to watch it , but still havent ,due to some pressing requirement . it is running at a theatre quite close to my place , eros i suppose , i shall watch it thrice immediately now . i am quite a film buff myself and count those movies on my fingertips which i missed in last 3 yrs or so ..hehe.
so it is just a matter of time before u could hear my (frank) view. it would be my pleasure to invite u to my place and see u in person .i would be happy to have such a great personality . with this my wishes for ur future endeavour . all the best and may dhoop does fetch u lot s of awards .

By chance I am staying hardly 800mtr away from Shahid Anuj Nayyar's petrol pump.
Petrol pump is in 300mtr. area. Very less space allocated. ( I have not seen the movie yet ).

Next to Shahid Anuj Nayyar petrol pump, two more petrol pumps were given license and these petrol pumps are atleast 4 times bigger in area.

I read two -three days back in newspaper that Anuj Nayyar's father told to our PM," Vajpayee ji ek Kargik to aapne jeet liya.. ek Kargil main abhi bhi lad raha hoon.. or main use jeet kar deekhaoonga.."

Thne only with intervention of Vajpayee \ LK Adavni, petrol pump allocation and facility providing process was completed with in 2-3 days. otherwise Mr. Sr. Nayyar was running from pillar to post ( SALUTE TO INDIAN SYSTEM) !!!

Mr Chaudhary,
I saw the movie DHOOP and it was very refreshing to see a new script devoid of the typical running around trees and jhatkas that most bollywood films are notorious for.

Its good to know that there are directors out there who want to explore more serious issues and hope you stay on that path.

The movie was overall good and I think Mr Om Puri did an excellent job. The first half of the movie had a little too much "pathos" in it, but the second half was good .It exposes the corruption in the indian system in a very realistic manner, specially liked the dialogues with Haryanvi police inspector.....with that "accent"..
The only thing that i found strange in the movie was the son addressing his father as " POPPIN" !!!!!!!!!! Did u actually hear anyone call their father that or did you just come up with it or maybe its just me..it may not sound strange to other folks...

Anyway,Keep up the good work and wish you all the best in your next venture !!!!

Congratulations ashwini jee!
I have yet to watch the movie, while not being a movie buff exactly, I 'll make sure that I watch this one; and I will be looking closely for the traces of Jat touch and sensibility!

This is indeed a matter of great pride when people from our community break through in newer areas--especially arts, where we have had almost no presence. Good luck to you in your future endeavors too; may you continue to provide us, long in the future, with enriching and thought provoking fare.

I wld like to thank th members of jatland fr going thru my post of film DHOOP and posting their views on th site.thanks fr th encouragement once more. Sm members hv also frowadd sm links to th site wch carries sm very good reviews abt th film. I wld tk ths oppurtunity to thank thm also.Shikha ji hs asked in hr post y sanjay suri calls om puri "popin" in th film. As th film is based on a real life story and prof. s.k. nayyar played by om puri in th film hs told me during research and also quoted in various interviews in print that hs son Anuj used to call him "popin".I found it a very cute expression and thus used it in th film and i think it also works in underlining th kind of relationship father and son share in th film.thanks once again fr ur support and views.

i have not seen the movie yet but i am sure that it is good. it certianly is a very real and touching story. i know the story because i watched it on Tv as it was covered in one of barkha datt's(ndtv journalist-i am sure you know) programmes earlier. the movie does a good job in paying the tributes and homage to real life heroes like capt. nayyar and at the same time raises the issue of corruption in our society. it is great to know a jat bhai doing a great job. i will certainly watch the movie.

Dear Ashwini,
Very well directed movie. A very important topic that you have touched upon. I am sure it will bring some sense of nationalism in our otherwise very corrupt system. You have been able to get a good work from all the actors. I am sure in years to come we will see some very useful movies from you.
I have some observations to make though. Unless, it really happened Capt Rohit calling his father Popin did not look appealing to me. Secondly, Nihar Singh's character. Usually, it would have been better if the dialogue delivery of characters specially representing Haryana had used Haryanvi ascent, like very well played by person acting as inspector Malik. The first part of the movie had been very slow. It probably would have been a better idea to increase the pace of the movie.
I have not seen Ladoo, but I am sure, it must be great movie too. I will try and see it in near future. I am not really a great critique, but thought will give my point of view.
Overall, I must confess, that it has been a very well made movie, and you have been bold enough to project the problem without getting diverted towards commercialization of the subject. I am sure, this movie will give great boost to your career and will establish you as one of the best in the industry. Our good wishes are always with you. Keep doing the great work. We are proud of you.

Chaudhary Ashwini Jee

Congrats for the achievement that not only manifests the great talent and creativity but has a long lasting meaning for all in the society. I am sure the lesson and theme of the movie would have a great positive impact and serve as a nova bechmark for the people in the viewers as well as the events and issues to be realistically addressed in future.

Congrats once again and best wishes for many more successes like this

With regards
RS Sangwan
