Gosh !! what wrong did he say in the campaign ?he was so true ,so nationalist ,so direct ..don't we all know that all terrorists are by nd large muslims nd hv been threatening the integrity of hindus ?..we can never fill the gully between muslims nd hindus, the angst ,the rivalry, the hatred b/w them exists indelibly. He sweared by b.gita that he wud cut the hands of those that move towards strangulating the hindus nd that those other than hindus must move to pakistan, what wrong did he say in that??..we are still bearing the consequences of the mistake mahatama gandhi made long time back!! how many of us gather the courage to speak up what we feel inside strongly ?. Hinduism is a way of thinking, not some dogmatic scepticism nd hindus are no one but followers of that way of thinking ....it's not merely a religion nd it just pains to see that anti-hindu party imposed RASUKA on such a daring boy..india really needs youngsters like him to revive the hinduistic spirit that it has lost!!

No he did not, as BJP could have chosen someone else to highlight their lost cause, but his misfortune was that he happens to be son of Late Sanjay Gandhi who was a hard liner and is remembered as anti muslim

Wish he was still alive :( , things would have been different

Why i am a hindu

WHY I AM A HINDU

Four years ago, I was flying from JFK NY Airport to SFO to attend a meeting at Monterey, CA An American girl was sitting on the right side, near window seat. It indeed was a long journey - it would take nearly seven hours.

I was surprised to see the young girl reading a Bible unusual of young Americans. After some time she smiled and we had few acquaintances talk.I told her that I am from India

Then suddenly the girl asked: 'What's your faith?' 'What?' I didn't understand the question.

'I mean, what's your religion? Are you a Christian? Or a Muslim?'

'No!' I replied, 'I am neither Christian nor Muslim'.

Apparently she appeared shocked to listen to that. 'Then who are you?' 'I am a Hindu', I said.

She looked at me as if she was seeing a caged animal. She could not understand what I was talking about.

A common man in Europe or US knows about Christianity and Islam, as they are the leading religions of the world today. But a Hindu, what?

I explained to her - I am born to a Hindu father and Hindu mother. Therefore, I am a Hindu by birth.

'Who is your prophet?' she asked.

'We don't have a prophet,' I replied.

'What's your Holy Book?'

'We don't have a single Holy Book, but we have hundreds and thousands of philosophical and sacred scriptures,' I replied.

'Oh, come on at least tell me who is your God?'

'What do you mean by that?'

'Like we have Jesus and Muslims have Allah - don't you have a God?'

I thought for a moment. Muslims and Christians believe one God (Male God) who created the world and takes an interest in the humans who inhabit it. Her mind is conditioned with that kind of belief.

According to her (or anybody who doesn't know about Hinduism), a religion needs to have one Prophet, one Holy book and one God. The mind is so conditioned and rigidly narrowed down to such a notion that anything else is not acceptable. I understood her perception and concept about faith. You can't compare Hinduism with any of the present leading religions where you have to believe in one concept of god.

I tried to explain to her: 'You can believe in one god and he can be a Hindu. You may believe in multiple deities and still you can be a Hindu. What's more - you may not believe in god at all, still you can be a Hindu. An atheist can also be a Hindu.'

This sounded very crazy to her. She couldn't imagine a religion so unorganized, still surviving for thousands of years, even after onslaught from foreign forces.

'I don't understand but it seems very interesting. Are you religious?'
What can I tell to this American girl?

I said: 'I do not go to temple regularly. I do not make any regular rituals. I have learned some of the rituals in my younger days. I still enjoy doing it sometimes.'

'Enjoy? Are you not afraid of God?'

'God is a friend. No - I am not afraid of God. Nobody has made any compulsions on me to perform these rituals regularly.'

She thought for a while and then asked: 'Have you ever thought of converting to any other religion?'

'Why should I? Even if I challenge some of the rituals and faith in Hinduism, nobody can convert me from Hinduism. Because, being a Hindu allows me to think independently and objectively, without conditioning. I remain as a Hindu never by force, but choice.' I told her that Hinduism is not a religion, but a set of beliefs and practices. It is not a religionlike Christianity or Islam because it is not founded by any one person or does not have an organized controlling body like the Church or the Order, I added. There is no institution or authority.

'So, you don't believe in God?' she wanted everything in black and white.

'I didn't say that. I do not discard the divine reality. Our scripture, or Sruthis or Smrithis - Vedas and Upanishads or the Gita - say God might be there or he might not be there. But we pray to that supreme abstract authority (Para Brahma) that is the creator of this universe.'

'Why can't you believe in one personal God?'

'We have a concept - abstract - not a personal god. The concept or notion of a personal God, hiding behind the clouds of secrecy, telling us irrational stories through few men whom he sends as messengers, demanding us to worship him or punish us, does not make sense. I don't think that God is as silly as an autocratic emperor who wants others to respect him or fear him.' I told her that such notions are just fancies of less educated human imagination and fallacies, adding that generally ethnic religious practitioners in Hinduism believe in personal gods. The entry level Hinduism has over-whelming superstitions too. The philosophical side of Hinduism negates all superstitions.

'Good that you agree God might exist. You told that you pray. What is your prayer then?'

'Loka Samastha Sukino Bhavantu. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti,'

'Funny,' she laughed, 'What does it mean?'

'May all the beings in all the worlds be happy. Om Peace, Peace, Peace.'

'Hmm ..very interesting. I want to learn more about this religion. It is so democratic, broad-minded and free' she exclaimed.

'The fact is Hinduism is a religion of the individual, for the individual and by the individual with its roots in the Vedas and the Bhagavad-Gita. It is all about an individual approaching a personal God in an individual way according to his temperament and inner evolution - it is as simple as that.'

'How does anybody convert to Hinduism?'

'Nobody can convert you to Hinduism, because it is not a religion, but a set of beliefs and practices. Everything is acceptable in Hinduism because there is no single authority or organization either to accept it or to reject it or to oppose it on behalf of Hinduism.'

I told her - if you look for meaning in life, don't look for it in religions; don't go from one cult to another or from one guru to the next.

For a real seeker, I told her, the Bible itself gives guidelines when it says ' Kingdom of God is within you.' I reminded her of Christ's teaching about the love that we have for each other. That is where you can find the meaning of life.

Loving each and every creation of the God is absolute and real. 'Isavasyam idam sarvam' Isam (the God) is present (inhabits) here everywhere - nothing exists separate from the God, because God is present everywhere. Respect every living being and non-living things as God. That's what Hinduism teaches you.

Hinduism is referred to as Sanathana Dharma, the eternal faith. It is based on the practice of Dharma, the code of life. The most important aspect of Hinduism is being truthful to oneself. Hinduism has no monopoly on ideas.- It is open to all. Hindus believe in one God (not a personal one) expressed in different forms. For them, God is timeless and formless entity.

Ancestors of today's Hindus believe in eternal truths and cosmic laws and these truths are opened to anyone who seeks them. But there is a section of Hindus who are either superstitious or turned fanatic to make this an organized religion like others. The British coin the word 'Hindu' and considered it as a religion.

I said: 'Religions have become an MLM (multi-level- marketing) industry that has been trying to expand the market share by conversion. The biggest business in today's world is Spirituality. Hinduism is no exception'

I am a Hindu primarily because it professes Non-violence - 'Ahimsa Paramo Dharma' - Non violence is the highest duty. I am a Hindu because it doesn't conditions my mind with any faith system.
A man/ woman who change 's his/her birth religion to another religion is a fake and does not value his/her morals, culture and values in life. Hinduism was the first religion originated. Be proud of your religion and be proud of who you are.
Om Namo shiva……………

now... know what islam is !!!

ISLAM -Dr. Peter Hammond.
Islam is not a religion, nor is it a cult. In its fullest form, it is a complete, total, 100% system of life. Islam has religious, legal, political, economic, social, and military components. The religious component is a beard for all of the other components.

Islamization begins when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their religious privileges.

When politically correct, tolerant, and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their religious privileges, some of the other components tend to creep in as well.

Here's how it works.
As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:

United States - Muslim 0.6%
Australia - Muslim 1.5%
Canada - Muslim 1.9%
China - Muslim 1.8%
Italy - Muslim 1.5%
Norway - Muslim 1.8%

At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. This is happening in:

> Denmark - Muslim 2%
> Germany - Muslim 3.7%
> United Kingdom - Muslim 2.7%
> Spain - Muslim 4%
> Thailand - Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. This is occurring in:

France - Muslim 8%
Philippines - Muslim 5%
Sweden -- Muslim 5%
Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris, we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam , with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections, in:

Guyana - Muslim 10%
India - Muslim 13.4%
Israel - Muslim 16%
Kenya - Muslim 10%
Russia - Muslim 15%

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

Ethiopia - Muslim 32.8%

At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:

Bosnia - Muslim 40%
Chad - Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon - Muslim 59.7%

From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:

Albania - Muslim 70%
Malaysia - Muslim 60.4%
Qatar - Muslim 77.5%
Sudan - Muslim 70%

After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:

Bangladesh - Muslim 83%
Egypt - Muslim 90%
Gaza - Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia - Muslim 86.1%
Iran - Muslim 98%
Iraq - Muslim 97%
Jordan - Muslim 92%
Morocco - Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan - Muslim 97%
Palestine - Muslim 99%
Syria - Muslim 90%
Tajikistan - Muslim 90%
Turkey - Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates - Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace. Here there's supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:

Afghanistan - Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia - Muslim 100%
Somalia - Muslim 100%
Yemen - Muslim 100%

Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons.

'Before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; the tribe against the world, and all of us against the infidel. -- Leon Uris, 'The Haj'

It is important to understand that in some countries, with well under 100% Muslim populations, such as France, the minority Muslim populations live in ghettos, within which they are 100% Muslim, and within which they live by Sharia Law. The national police do not even enter these ghettos. There are no national courts, nor schools, nor non-Muslim religious facilities. In such situations, Muslims do not integrate into the community at large.

The children attend madrasses. They learn only the Koran. To even associate with an infidel is a crime punishable with death. Therefore, in some areas of certain nations, Muslim Imams and extremists exercise more power than the national average would indicate.

Today's 1.5 billion Muslims make up 22% of the world's population. But their birth rates dwarf the birth rates of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, and all other believers. Some say Muslims will exceed 50% of the world's population by the end of this century.

~Adapted from Dr. Peter Hammond's book - "Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Rootsand Contemporary Threat

I like the way he talked. But didn't like the way politically people are trying to get the benefit either in favour or against.

what all do u think about this??

I think you banged on keyboard after attending RSS sponsored 'Shakha' and imagined Varun the kid as an avatar of Lord Shiva opening his third eye.

Its funny even to acknoweledge the presence of such seasonal-Hindu Patriots who pop-up in the rain of votes and later enjoy on money of people of Republic of India. He must be baited unless he looses all gluttons.

Do you all are so moron[pardon my language] that you would start believing that the civilization which stands on firm pillars of spirituality would fall with the influence of reasonably weaker religion.? It is election time and like courtesan , politicians would mannauverised everything bad , lucrative or ugly enough to provoke you guys.

On religion, in Islam , nowadays there is one name as speaker Dr Zakir Naik who is a highly learned person. In Banglore in a face off with Shri Shri Ravishankar he proved himself a kid.He had no answers to him on the concept of God in all Hinduism and Islam.

No one understood that Varun and her mother didn't do any developmental work for Pilibhit for years. It is quite strange love and dedication towards Hinduism suddenly poped out just before few weeks of election.Didn't one ask where he was hiding at the time of conversions taking place in tribal areas?

What BJP conveys is nowhere near religion else Mr Advani wont have bowed down at Jinnah's grave.

Please! don't get swayed with the sweet, empty words of opportunistic bastards.Consider your vote valuable and use your grey cells to judge a reasonably better candidate rather than a joker.

hatred

Muslim society and nations are facing problem because they have surrendered/succumbed to hatred.
India is in a better position than pakistan because we didn't give in to hatred.
but that can end
The moment you give in to hatred you instantly lose your wisdom.

Varun Gandhi needed to compete with Rahul's popularity and he hit the nail on the head. He isnt bothere that riots will happen, that thousands of innocent hindus and muslims will be killed. He has gained what he wanted.

The world badly needs people to behave wisely.

Sri Ram and Lord Krishna never held hatred for adverseries soldiers or population.

We need to learn how to win people by love and not shout and make a million enemies.

This all Muslim hatred business should've been kaput by now had we acted in a sensitive and sane way. I don't understand how in this world we can manage to believe this Varun's or any hinuistic elements despite knowing that its just a political snail which manages its way through their vocal cords in exam(read election) time.

The man is trying to spew venom on the same religion which he partially belongs to as well. And do u also believe he has no muslim friends?? I think people's grey cells here and all over India needs some serious exercise as nobody seems to apply rational thinking before speaking.

The most sensible and wise post on the thread. Anger and hatred rob you of your sensitivity and objectivity.
Our religion talks about well being of all the beings on earth("Sarve Sukhani Bhavantu") and peace everywhere.
Refering to the topic,as many have said it is just a gimmick to drive political advantage which needs to be condemned.
Hatred and violence give no solutions.

bhai sahab agar ram or krisna ke time par muslim hote to ram kahani kuch or hi hoti or rawan ke jagah kisi mohamdan ka nam hota. jab hamare ved, ramayan, gita likhe gai the jab muslim dharam nahi tha to yeha gita ke updesh lagu nahi hote.
or bat rahi Varun ki to besak usne vote ke liye kaha ho par bat 100% sahi kahi hai. sometimes violence is key to peace. Gujrat riots ke bad ek bhi danga nahi hua gujrat mein pichle 5 sal se. first time in indian history after indipendence 5 years in gujrat without communal riots bcoz Modi ne sara ki gola lathi band di.
