i am writing this to you with loads of expectations.actually i am doing B.tec from jaipur in electronics and communication branch and its my last year.i have also attended coaching classes for GRE (for MS) but now i dont have any interest in this engineering field because my basics are week.in india as u may be aware engineering students always study few days before the exam and get a good score ,same i did and my aggregate is 73% till now.so as my basics in B.tec are week that is why i have decided that i should go for GMAT exam (i.e for MBA) but still i am in delima between MS and MBA .and i am almost prepared for the GRE exam and withdrawing from it wont be good.so can anyone provide guidance regarding this ?should i go for both the exams ?scope of which one is better ?which one is difficult ?

Navdeep jee, there are some important points that you have raised here:
1. Your interest in the filed of study that you are in, is less than optimum.
2. In your opinion, your basics in your field of study are weak.

To get an answer to your dilemma i.e., whether higher studies in the field that you are currently in will serve you any good: you must answer whether you want to get your basics strong? If the answer is yes, then higher studies will serve you well (i.e., M.S, Ph.D will be a good option). Otherwise, a change of field is good, I think.

Urmila.

Many colleges accept GRE scores for admission to MBA courses. You can write to the colleges of your choice to confirm this.
So, with GRE, you are eligible to apply to both-MBA and MS. And, you have already invested time in GRE.......Good Luck!

thanks urmila ji for the reply.actually i have less interest to remain in the engineering or research field so there is no way i should think about making my basics strong and i was dubious about whether i can approach a university for MBA course with my GRE score or not .so i am thinking that i should give GRE test and will look for the universities for MBA courses if i get a good university of my choice then it would be great otherwise ill give GMAT exam .

one more thing maa'm ,can you help me with the two choices ( CANADA or U.S of A ) which one would be better.

yours is a lifesaving answer annch ji.thanks for the information :-)

What is the surety that you wont get bored after one year of MBA like you are no longer interested in engineering.
You are week in engineering basics what about business basics.

Doing MBA does not mean that you will be a manager.

Don't do MBA just for the sake of Degree or Foreign experience. Think what you want to learn and apply from it.

both course are pole apart..there is no Question of dilemma...choose ur inteest and try hard to acieve the hieghts in that field...

@navdeep:I think as your Base is engineering and u also mentioned that it is not so strong,in that case first you have to make choice where u want to place your self after study i.e either in JOB or Academic-like teaching and all.if You choose Job- then you need to think from your current acdemic in which industry/role you can batter fit and add value.

after deciding above factor then take a decision on further course. No idea abt. MS but can tell you that MBA can only sharpen your skills in terms of leadership/mangement but for practical work in Industry you have to study your expertise/area of interest/value addition to company/industry as per your acedemic/past experience(if any) etc.

Go for MS. MBA is just a general course which wont help you much unless you have an expertise in something.

If you want to go abroad decide the country. I would suggest Canada over US. And then decide the course.

If you want to stay in India decide the course and then decide everything else.

Well said that it is important to have an expertise in something and then go in for management. Skills that one learns while becoming an expert are indispensable for a manager's job

Navdeep jee, you said you are not interested in making your basics strong in the field you are in. Having strong basics usually makes one like the subject. I suspect you got into Engineering field due to peer pressure (?) or advise from others as to what you should be doing with your career. Are you not doing the same when thinking about doing an MBA as many engineering students go in for an MBA.

Canada vs. USA, better in terms of what?

Urmila.
