We says Nehru was great visionary, his primary focus was on development. But we all can see physically the condition of infrastructure after 60 years of independence. If he was a great visionary why we are struggling today with our public transportation, roads condition, hospitals...................................
we all know list is endless.

We says Indira Gandhi was a bold decision maker.......then why we are struggling to control population.

In my view the real visionary and bold decision maker was Sanjay Gandhi. Vision of every body owns cheap car and he worked for that....and hence "Today we all have car".
Vision of control on population and he woked on that...............

Navin Bhaai...
I am agree with u that govt should do its job in a better way,But what u feel people dont have any duties.U write so many things for their right but didnt write single thing about their duties.People are not ready to do their basic jobs and this makes govt failure...
A MCD sweeper has duty to clean the road,he is getting pay for it,But he is not doing his duty...Tell me who is responsible...He is from us and we will make Govt. responsible for it,But never talk about who is responsible.
There are so many schemes Govt has started but finding no one taker for them...
I am not defending Govt. or Gandhi family,But only thing that its easy to criticise than to work or doing duties...You are saying there is corruption in govt,But its everywhere my brother...U see any department and its we people who are doing it...
We have not developed like germany/USA for last 50 years,But we have developed a bit.We have problems like Population, this is major hurdle in development and Govt/Gandhi family is not responsible for it.Its our culture and people's mentality, they prefers sons than daughters......Govt has started family planning but still its not successful...
Govt started Pulse polio but still its not reached its milestone...Who is responsible????

Simply expecting from Govt will not make our country great, its people who make country great.
Brother that is also my point.

We says Indira Gandhi was a bold decision maker.......then why we are struggling to control population.

...
Bhaai Ravinder
Indira Gandhi cant do population control its people who have to think over it...She tried to do it forcely during emergency, but resultd were not good..Its depends upon people.

bhaai sid, yo baat sahi nahin sai, party badal gaya tu tai :-)

Bhai yatinder
it is very difficult to explain duties to an uneducated, illiterate, rural population which has been divided into groups based on gotrs, caste, location, religion and so on.
in our country the rural people have been deliberately kept away from quality education so that politicians can ask and get votes on useless issues.
A poor illiterate farmer/worker who has to toil everyday, face hostilities, harassment and disrespect from everywhere you expect him to respect the system.
He is fooled by politicians in every election, you expect him to be dutiful.
If we educate these people, if their children can speak english and get good jobs things will be different. then we can explain duties to them.
You talk about a sweeper/rikshaw wala. Who respects them? A rikshaw wala is slapped by every passerby. How can you expect the rikshaw wala to show respect. Will you (how many) talk to a rikshaw wala politely if he comes in your way?
How can we expect the poor to respect the system which is exploiting them everyday?

An Imp point is :- We both have valid points and we have to focus on the valid part of our discussion.

Be it bihar, haryana, rajasthan, mp, .. the poor have been deliberately kept away from good education. They have been manipulated by using trivial issues and by luring them with a 100Rs
It is a HARD AND REAL FACT

navin bhai I did not change sides - I only agreed with the part that people should expect more from their government. They have to be responsible and knowledgible enough to expect more. My comment did come off as if I agreed to everything in that post.

Like Dj said in Rang De Basanti, " Jindagi jeene ke do tarike hote hain, Ek; Jo ho raha hai usse waise hi chalne do ; Dusra, Agar jo chal raha hai tumhe pasand nahi hai,to himmat karo aur usse badal do."

Big question arises -- How ?

In a country with a diversity more than nature, beliefs more than people and self interests more than country or state. It is bigger than herculian task.
Anywhere in the world, naturly, more than 90% people follow the trend of remaining ones who are leading......But In our country which is totally in love with crisis based patriotism,No crisis turnover no patriotism.Corruption, poverty never have become crisis(or people dnt sense them that way) that it could be bring in that stream. Whats the use of criticising politcians when they follow the golden rule of Britisher's Divide and rule. Its we who send them in houses and later find them enough suitable to criticise here or there one way or other.
Handful of determined people , just handful ..........Have guts?
History wud be changed....Lets see HOW....

This thread started on a crucial note.....Gandhi family....Naveen ji n many others discussed many shortcomings of Prime Ministers since Nehru. Well the points discussed were quite reasonable. But I feel what Mr.Yatinder said is also right to much extent in both of his posts. Its only how we look at the things, glass half filled or half empty. Rajiv Gandhi had vision of making India an IT revolution, so we are today. so we cant say they didnt do anything for the country. And this is also true that development not only depends on leaders, success of any venture depends on every individual. It requires contribution from each n every citizen. Thou none of leader or govt. has been successful in controlling corruption which is the biggest block in the country's progress, but then isnt the people are responsible for this major evil? So it requires every citizen to be responsible n honest towards his duties, whtever is the duty of that individual without considering it petty or mean.
But yea we need good, genuine, n intelligent leaders for the better development of the country, who has a sharp n clear cut vision for the future, n who can make relevant policies n can bring them into action so that we can match the developed countries. For this the revolutionery educated youth of today need to join politics, n which surely is nt possible if we ll b having leaders like Rahul Gandhi in future....!!!

Clueless!

...The young turk is as clueless as some baby-boomer strolling into a modern war zone!

I did a 'quickie' sketch cartoon of him putting his (or maybe it is his royal family's) foot in his own big mouth...

well, and.......I guess the cartoon says it all........

(attached here for your viewing pleasure!) ;)

Neelam Ji, I agree with you and Yatinder. We people have to play a role and especially we educated ones. This country needs a rural educational revolution. We need leaders who can carry that out. We need leaders who can sacrifice their personal interest in the interest of nation. We don’t need weak spined leaders who compromise with the existing system to stay in power and for personal benefit.
Corruption?
In our country patriotism hasn’t been promoted ever at the scale it is required. Patriotism is the identity of a country. See in US how it is promoted, or Germanyor Japan. The politicians instead of uniting the country have divided it. Till recently the common man could not fly the Indian flag, it was a status symbol for highly placed leaders. Even today there are more restriction on flying it. Why cant I put the flag on my car or paint it on my car/house or wear on my dress?
Our kids wear American flags. If we encourage and promote patriotism, corruption will go. At time of Kargil when patriotism was promoted the common man came out in large numbers to donate jewelry and money to fight wa, youth came out in lakhs to join army, that’s what patriotism can do.
Today we see more party flags and no Indian flags. People have loyalty to hand or lotus but not to ashoka chakra.
Can we have a leader who doesn’t want to become cm or pm but is willing to sacrifice for bringing about a change.
I know it is not easy, saare system ko corruption and indifference ke deemak ne khaa rakha hai but we ve to try and break it. Otherwise history will only know us as a silent generation which kept silent when there was a need to speak.

rahul gandhi has not said this to get votes from educated people, he has said it to get votes from uneducated/illiterate people.
thats what i am emphasizing - people have been deliberately kept illiterate and then the illiterate people have been manipulatedso that those who want to stay in power can stay in power.
The governments couldnot bring in development in 60yrs what private enterprises ve done in 5-10yrs. The point is if the politicians wanted india to be developed india could be no.1 but people preferred power and preferred to rule.

rahul gandhi has not said this to get votes from educated people, he has said it to get votes from uneducated/illiterate people.

Navin Bhaai
In india mostly uneducated/Illiterate people cast their vote...Educated People find Voting day as free holiday...U can compare Rural Vs Urban Voting Percentage...Rural always have edge in it...

ofcourse Yatinder
rural aadmi nai 100 rapiye milain saivote geran ke ar kise kise nai daaru ki botal. Vote tai gerainge.
Those who could help havent, we educated have to wake up out of our selfish sleep and do something.

The problems of corruption, unpatriotism n disloyalty are not something which emerged on scene after independence. This country is and was always full of covetous n mean people. Even when the coutry was stuggling hard for freedom, there were people who betrayed their own brothers who were fighting for the most nobel cause----Freedom of the country, and sold their conscientiousness to the British for few materialistic benefits. I wonder how one can be so treacherous.....!!! Yes you are right Naveen ji, the root cause of corruption is that people in this coutry are not patriotic (dedicated would be a better word thou) and are so selfish and self-indulgent.

Strongly Agree with you Navin Bhaisaab!!
Indeed these spineless greedy Neta ruined our Country!!
Specially this Gandhi n Nehru family.....these Leaders including today's Gandhi family think our country is their pvt property!!

Ish desh ka kuch nahi ho sakta....maan ne maan mera desh mahaan!!

Rock on!
Jit

(I have affiliation to no political party, only to my soil and my country)

every text book teaches our kids that nehru gandhi family is the greatest family of india. what about the millions who have sacrificed for this country. the country doesnt even know the birthdays of other martyrs. if they were so great why couldnt they make our country a Japan in 60ys of their rule.

If he wants to do something for the country he should get to some ground work rather than praising what his papa did.

Specially this Gandhi n Nehru family.....these Leaders including today's Gandhi family think our country is their pvt property!!

Jit Bhaai...This is not only Gandhi Family, all r like that...Chautala wants his family to continue,Mulayam wants his family....Lalu has his family...Karunanidhi has stalin ready...Bal Thakrey has his family members...So everyone wants their Son/Daughter to take over...
