Does Rahul gandhi know?

Neelam Ji, I agree with you and Yatinder. We people have to play a role and especially we educated ones. This country needs a rural educational revolution. We need leaders who can carry that out. We need leaders who can sacrifice their personal interest in the interest of nation. We don’t need weak spined leaders who compromise with the existing system to stay in power and for personal benefit.
Corruption?
In our country patriotism hasn’t been promoted ever at the scale it is required. Patriotism is the identity of a country. See in US how it is promoted, or Germanyor Japan. The politicians instead of uniting the country have divided it. Till recently the common man could not fly the Indian flag, it was a status symbol for highly placed leaders. Even today there are more restriction on flying it. Why cant I put the flag on my car or paint it on my car/house or wear on my dress?
Our kids wear American flags. If we encourage and promote patriotism, corruption will go. At time of Kargil when patriotism was promoted the common man came out in large numbers to donate jewelry and money to fight wa, youth came out in lakhs to join army, that’s what patriotism can do.
Today we see more party flags and no Indian flags. People have loyalty to hand or lotus but not to ashoka chakra.
Can we have a leader who doesn’t want to become cm or pm but is willing to sacrifice for bringing about a change.
I know it is not easy, saare system ko corruption and indifference ke deemak ne khaa rakha hai but we ve to try and break it. Otherwise history will only know us as a silent generation which kept silent when there was a need to speak.

Like you said Navin about encouraging and promoting patriotism, can country afford to have a crisis like Kargill? I dnt see any other way to unite in present time.Again if you say wearing national flag shows patriotism, then whole of tailors wud have become patriots.Be USA or any west country in this case have afforded to allow their citizens to wear national flag as dress, Can Indian Govt afford to see citizens hanging out on beaches with national flag as underwears? I guess its their dedication and over honesty towards their work which landed them in 'developed and mature states'. we are a young nation with lot of diversity followed in every segmant of life with huge gap in every approach.I know diversity isn't an excuse to development but its a big factor I believe.
And yeah! for a social movement I believe power is the key for a mass improvement. You cant stay apolitical.

Question is HOW? How people can bring together under a roof for a single or multiple cause which must satiate their personal as well as national cause without any crisis.?

I'm sorry to deviate topic from Rahul Gandhi and stuff but there is always time find practical solutions in a better way.

Hey that was brilliant as ever!

But you know lil' apprehensive to comment on you, who knows if you end up making a caricature of God knows whom.. (pls a sketch only in case...;) )

rahul ghandhi said his ghandhi family responsible for india's independence .
rahul keeps issusing such immature statements so that he remain in headlines after all he knows that his party has marginal presence .

b) Befriended Jernail Singh Bhindrawale for political benefit in Punjab and he was the one who captured golden temple and formed khalistan army. My father was posted at amritsar and I have seen trucks full of bodies of Indian army soldiers. The first battalion was Madras regt which was completely wiped out. By the way the first army officer to enter golden Temple was a Sikh officer who had volunteered to enter first. He received bullet injuries and was taken as dead, he was being taken for cremation when some one noticed movement in his body. He went on to become the adjutant of ima(Col Raina), I am fortunate to have met him.

You are opening a can of worms here. You speak of the truck loads of dead jawans. However, you do not think of the truck loads of innocent civilians who were killed in the incident. Whether they fell to our bullets or to Khalistani bullets, the government is always expected to be on a higher moral ground.

We the people who pay for the bullets should not be the ones who become their targets.

Whatever happened at the Golden Temple is a matter of shame for the government and for everyone who supports the terrorist activities of our supposedly democratic government.

I do not wish to debate this issue. But you must be ashamed for having any association formal or informal with anyone who has anything to do with the day our democracy was slapped in its face.

Why should we be ashamed of something which is unrelated to us.
I am proud of the army's role during Op Bluestar, where there were orders to be followed, they followed it nice and proper.
Indira should be ashamed of her liasion with Bhindrawale, but at the same same time she had guts to take the blame and correct it by ordering cleaning of Golden temple ( there were no cilvilains).
The defination of "democracy" , according to you, needs a relook.

Hi Sumit...
Please clear how democracy was slapped by Operation Blue star...

Bhai Yati,
Sumit bhai ki website/blog dekh le. Fer nahin bujhaiga tu.
Haadai yo discussion laamba ho jyaga.

My intention to begin this thread was to bring forward the wrongs which have been done to the common poor man and to encourage every one, including myself to do whatever little we can to improve things. We owe it to the countless people who sacrificed their lives to protect our country and with a dream that India will be a good and strong country and an example to the whole world to emulate.

Well, op Bluestar was the turning point for a big movement to come whose effects we could have seen till recent years. If indira had the guts or not, that is not the question?

It was her mistake and the whole nation has to pay.

Blame again lies with the Indira(Nehru n company) and how could you justify such a big blunder on her part. Isn't she responsible? How did she rectify? Did she resigned?

If Indira Had the guts she shold have been the first person to step into the Golden Temple. Sitting in a bomb proof shelter in New Delhi and directing jawans being paid 1000 rupees/month to walk into a fire-pit does not define "guts" according to my understanding.

I cannot change minds on this forum. But we must remember that when a democratically government orders troops to assault the very people who voted in the democratic process, it is a slap in the face of democarcy.

And as for you Mr Lakra, just keep in mind that you wont have the right to shed a tear on the day the government orders the Army against your loved ones; and godwilling they will do their job and follow their orders "nicely."

I know of people whose loved ones happened to be in the golden temple on the unfortunate day. Children as young as 1 year old were dragged from their own pool of blood. What sort of democarcy are we talking about. What sort of human rights are we talking about?

End of discussion. I urge fellow members to focus on other elements of the thread.

...I take exception...

...Yes bhai logon, I too think it is most advisable that everyone here concentrate on the topic and refrain from getting sidetracked;
ps. I am an Army brat of a late war veteran myself and unfortunately take a huge exception to any (and this is not the first time I have noticed these pathetic moanings), ...huge exception to any cowardly references to the Army’s role and responses to any kind of home grown (citizens' perpetrated) civil insurgency……………specially coming from maybe some civilians whose family tree itself for example may quite well have never grown within a mile of the smallest of small army cantonments! (no pun intended!)… Listen, please- just don’t! ….Simply stick to the specifics and do not try and jump to conclusions about a way of life (or the culture) that you may/or may not know the first thing about except for maybe having looked at from far thru frustrated, even misinformed and defeatist eyes!

Indira gandhi was a brave and agressive lady. She was hero of 1971.No one can match win of 1971 with anything...She did some wrong things but she was bold...

mere liye to sabse corrupt lady wohi thee. India mein corruption ki roots indira Gandhi ne hee jamayi. 1971 ki ladai ke bal par we can't forgive her for what she did for 16 years. 1975 is darkest year of Indian polity. Don't forget that and it was her.

Gulia bhai ne sahi kaha hai. Yeh dekh ka naash kar rahe they...hain aur kar ke rahengey! I don't have problems with congress but the way old congress members bend in front of this Nehru family is disgusting. Congress must explore other options!

Dying is one thing, sacrificing one’s life is totally another thing.
Soldiers don’t die, they sacrifice their lives.
A soldier knows he is going to die, he knows he may not be remembered, he knows that no statues will be put up for him, no roads will be named after him, no government holidays on his anniversary, his family will live in misery and he wont be there to fend for them, he knows the people may make a mockery of his sacrifice by being corrupt and by taking the country to the dogs, he still goes ahead and sacrifices his life. Nothing can be more selfless and honorable.
We owe our freedom and safety to these sacrifices. Else the distance between India and Afghanistan is not that much. There are enough people out there who would love to see an Afghanistan here with the Islamic flag atop red fort.
