Let me first thank Deshwal Sir for bringing again a topic of sorts! Next , happy to see Brahm Sir back! :) [ many tks dear :) ]

Let me present my take on this (though I start by apologising for any absurdness , immature content that you may find ! )!

Brahm's take ( and he to me sums up by excusing himself for being aymptotic to the topic ! ) probably lets out more of the author's self than the topic , I am sure he will give himself more time to come out with something more relevant to the topic ! ( This is from a critic , and i hope Brahm would not mind it ! )!

Brahm Bhai, You have rightly observed about what was going through my mind. Although it was incidental that I stumbled upon that video and my reaction was spontaneous but got carried away to my blissful corner. Yes, am nostalgic about my past, my childhood, my loving immediate and extended family, my village and village folks.

Life was so simple! Day- to-day necessities were simple with minimum of greed and deception! But what to do? Could anyone stop the wheel of time?
But, I have this weakness to get carried away with simple situations. I get carried away and relate this situation to my self and to my little world.
[ this is exactly i was trying to convey in my 1st post... i'm glad i caught yr. mind... Sir ]

I would think of those moments where I could provide every thing possible to my two kids where they don’t hurt any body and don’t get hurt by anybody! Because, sometimes I get worried about them as they are young. They are restless like the younger participants in this thread( Sunil and Sateynder)

exactly anil, you definitely caught my mind which later, has been confirmed by deshwal sir in his subsequent post. indeed my post was an attempt to define/extract as to what was going through his mind, which i guess, i was able to. that is why i put a disclaimer at the end of my post by saying… “pls excuse me if you find my thoughts being absurd or going on a different tangent”.

to define something called love… (which i wonder if anyone can do?) is something like defining god. what is its exact definition? in which form does it exists? is it love btwn a man and woman, love btwn a teacher and a pupil, love btwn a child and a mother… careless love, selfish love, divine love, blind love, endless love… !!! you give me any alphabet from a to z and I’ll define love in every different way. in other words - you touch one aspect of love and i can write 100 posts each carrying a different meaning. so the bottom line to me is that every individual can have a different definition(s) of love which is distinctive to his nature and his perception.

to summarize very briefly, let me put it this way..
1. love is connection - soul, mind, heart, body, interdependence
2. love is understanding - empathy, compassion, commitment
3. love is acceptance - non judgmental, freedom to be self
4. love is wanting what is best for the other
5. last but not the least love is “the only force in the universe capable of defeating evil, demons, and also has incredible healing powers".

i know this again is not complete cos someone else might like to add a bit here and there or remove some bit.

as the topic unfolds further, i’m reminded of my assembly sessions in my school days, which in those days were n’vr liked or appreciated by us… cos it used to be long session starting with couple of bhajans, followed by 5-8 recitations, principal’s briefing/speech and to conclude with our national anthem or vande mataram. a small boy from primary section (their assembly session was different then ours) walks to the podium with confident strides… adjusts the mike to his height… confidently gives a brief glance to the audience nd recites… “god is love” and finally walks away, forcing every audience to give a laugh on his innocent gesticulation.

... his innocence was love !!!.

Love – further defined

If you love someone…

THE ORIGINAL VERSION:
If you love something,
Set it free…
If it comes back, it’s yours,
If it doesn’t, it never was yours…

THE POSSESSIVE VERSION:
If you love somebody,
Don’t ever set them free
.

THE PSYCHOLOGIST’S VERSION:
If you love somebody,
Set them free…
If they come back, their super ego is dominant,
If they don’t come back, their id is supreme,
If they don’t go, they must be crazy
.

THE MARKETING VERSION:
If you love somebody,
Set them free…
If they come back, they have brand loyalty
If they don’t, reposition the brand in new markets
.

THE HOUSEWIFE VERSION:
If you love something,
Set it free…
If it doesn’t move, then you either
gave birth to it or you married it.

Have the feeling of love , care , affection , gratitude to people who you love and who love you! Always be prepared to do and give more(Expect more from yourself!)! Life's experiences are something not to be geat deal concerned about but taken in stride for the learning curve!
Remember that you cannot change the perception of everyone in a short span of time and there will be people to ridicule (literally making a mockery of ) your behaviour and ways of working and that will always drive you to deviate from your path to peace and love! There in lies the test ! There in one must muster all courage to keep doing what he/she is best at (and that should be giving love and affection and more of it!) Also at the end of it , make sure you discount the happiness and love that you have given to others in your balance sheet records as well! That is a good and more correct measure of the love and affection that is "around" you! Do not be internally directed when analysing broad things like love , care and affection !

anil, let me add a story to your above thoughts… here it goes…

One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley.

A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart.

Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said, “Why your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine.” The crowd and the young man looked at the old man’s heart. It was beating strongly, but full of scars, it had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn’t fit quite right and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.
The people stared * “How can he say his heart is more beautiful?” they thought.

The young man looked at the old man’s heart and saw its state and laughed. “You must be joking,” he said. “Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears.”

“Yes,” said the old man, “Yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to whom have given my love - I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren’t exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared.”

“Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn’t returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the empty gouges - giving love is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?”

The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks.

He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart, and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man’s heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges.

The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man’s heart flowed into his.
They embraced and walked away side by side.

:) nnjoy this song... especially loaded for all of you, couple of minutes back... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmamDCbTujw
