Food Security Bill or a Lollypop?

Farmer's Suicide will increase drastically with Food Security Bill, in most of the area farmers pay in terms of food to their labour instead of money, Now no labour will accept food they will ask for money, farmers are always short of money, they also sell usually 20 % of crops in village . Now no labour or other non farming community will buy directly from farmers. Still Govt do not procure all the produce of farm . Do you think farmer will be able to sell all the wheat or rice? No. Now all the left will be rotten in farmers's field instead of Govt Godowns. Farmers will pay very heavy price for this Food Security Bill. I think most of the users on Jatland Forum are from medium or rich parents and they do not know much about farming.

+ Plus +

Gaaon me aaj bhi Barter trade chalta hai, kirane ki dukano pe (because of liquidity crunch of farmers).....Food security bill ki wajeh se gaon me kiraad bhi anaaj lene se anakani karega, and/or exchange ratio kam kar dega (as abb use khud ka ikkhatta kiya hua anaaj bechne me dikkat ayegi....kyunki abb har gareeb/majdoor ke pas sasta anaaj rahega....aur itna anaaz ikkhatta hota nahi ki wo mandi me jaa ke bech ke aaye aadhat ko)

Indirectly baaki ki aam ghar ki cheezein kisan ke liye apne aap mehangi ho jayengi...

Dusara Nuksaan kisano ka ye ho ga, ki abb support price me sarkar maamuli badhotri hi kar pane ki stithi me rahegi (kyunki is bill ki wajeh se uski liquidity kam ho jayegi), but kisan ke liye jo input costs hain, wo apne normal rate se badhti rahengi....

Sir, first of all mind your language. Habitually, you have been calling everyone who does not agree with you as 'botru'. Agreed, you are extra-smart guy but do not think that all others are dimwit. What resources you are talking about? Our country has all the resources available. The biggest resource is goodgrain itself, which we have in plenty. Other things required are manpower and transport faciligtes which also we have. India has sufficient Indian Rupees also to meet the expenditure towards wages and procurement of grain etc. No hard currency or import is involved. Everything is indigenously available and it is only a matter of book adjustment. The main thing is availability of material which already exists. What else do you need to implement this programme? Above all, if this programme is detrimental to the Indian economy why the bill was not stalled by the opposition in Parliament. Now, no more silly questions.

1. INR kee kamee konya, aur chhaap le ge, kammi kyukkar howegee
2. Opposition did not stall the bill, that does not mean it is good, they also do not want to be blamed for stalling this kind of bill. Just like they do not oppose reservation to SC/ST, even though we all know how much Reservation have helped SC/ST in last 65 years.

Damn! They are not smart, they are rascals of the highest order who have looted the common man for almost 60 years.

Hypothetical situation ..........suppose Modi PM ban jata hai .

What I was wondering ........from decades jo humara nuksan hua hai by Government ( i m not saying congress ) . It would also take decades to repair the DAMAGE , Modi is not magician .

For Eg ......Congress played right cards with Food Security Bill 1- They might get votes
2- Agar votes nahi bhi aaye agli Sarkar ke pas paisa hai nahi is Food Bill ko success banane mei , then in opposition woh Govt ki full on A B C D karenge .
3- Agar agli sarkar Congress ki aa bhi gaye , so what itne sare bill pass huye kitne success ho gayee ek aur add ho jayega Food bill .
4- This is WIN WIN situation for Congress........damn they are Smart .

1. You are talking about bygone era when the labourers used to work in lieu of a few kilos of food grain. In most cases they accept hard cash only.

2. Farmers have been selling their produce to the nearest market (Anaaz Mandi) for decades. The food grain bought by local non-farming people or labourers in your parlance constitute only a negligible part of the sale.

3. The foodgrain will continue to go to the markets and government store houses

4. The minimum support price will always provide a cushion to the farmers against any potential fall in prices.

Would like to make following submission in this regard:

1. Hunger must prevail over economics and statistical reasoning. Why would the people who are dying of hunger bother about the economy which cannot give them bread and butter.

2. No bill or mechanism of governance can be completely free from faultlines. Present bill also could be fraught with some potential loopholes. But doing nothing for the impoverished population is far more criminal than passage of this 'faulty' bill.

3. The fact that the opposition party fancied by some people here does not have the gumption to
oppose a bill perceived to be detrimental to the national economy, is a testimony that majority of
people in India supports it and none of the party want to earn wrath of this biggest chunk of
population which badly needs this bill.

Very Good article Satinder. Thanks for sharing!!!

Without even having a clear definition of " who is poor and who is not" - such a bill can not be implemented in true spirit. Govt is misleading by saying that 67% of the population will get food through this. They themselves ( through planning commission) have said that anyone earning more than Rs 28 is not poor.

My fear is, Planning commission recommending lowering down tax slabs to Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance to widen tax net on anybody who's earning more than Rs28/day. May be, that way govt could generate surplus funds for FSB.

And since with the implementation of Food Security bill, Planning comission might revise Rs 28/day to Rs 10/day or even lesser. And so, the question again.
What is the definition of POOR in india?
What is the eligibility criteria for entitlement for FSB benificiary?
And how govt is gonna control, that grains will not be siphoned off, from forged poors?

VP Singh Ji, In villages still they find the exchange of crop product instead of money more suitable to them, u can visit any village just 80 Km from Delhi , you can see it there. May be you may belong to rich farmer family

Krishan Ji, there could be sporadic cases where exchange of crop product takes place. Also, the barter system is no more in vogue in major parts of rural India. Let me tell you that I am not a rich farmer. I am a humble farmer with a small holding of just 8 acre, which too I got in inheritance from my father. Therefore, I do not have to engage labourers. Moreover, I myself have not been able to do farming for quite a few years and my brothers are taking care of this small piece of land alongwith their own holdings adjoining. But, I have seen my father engaging labourers for harvesting and paying them wages in cash. I have seen other people also in my area with bigger land holdings engaging the labourers on a daily-wage basis payable in Rupees. In the vicinity of Delhi upto 80 km this may not be the practice as claimed by you. My village is outside this periphery as it is about 150 km from Delhi.

India runs risk of sovereign debt crisis: Christopher Wood, Chief Equity Strategist, CLSA

One para from the above article

Following the passage of the Food Security Bill, concerns over the fiscal situation have become more acute, renewing doubts about the government's ability to control spending ahead of elections due next year. "In this respect, it hardly inspires confidence that Congress leader, Italy-born Sonia Gandhi, appeared in Parliament recently talking up her expensive Food Security Bill," Wood said.

3-4 roti khao aur kanress ne lao, taaki aagle 5 saal pura desh roti na kha sake.....Humbe road nhi banane, jahaz nhi udane..humne desh lootna se...aur wo loota jayega jab desh me garib honge....kangress scheme nikalegi...fir neta paise khayenge....

Kati sahi baat.

Loot loot ke inka jhhed na bharta.

Actually 65 years of experience in looting the country has taught the Congress party how to market/advertise their loot in the name of various Gandhi Nehru so called development schemes.
