Mukta,

With the increasing number of Ph.D. in sciences the usual route to a tenure track position or full time research position is through a post-doctoral fellowship.

The best way to obtain a PDF is to contact profs in your field especially those whose published work you have used in your research.

If you are attending a conference it is up to you to impress someone who can offer you a PDF or recommend you to someone else. So, do some research about the keynote speakers and other attendees. Make best use of time at the conference by developing as many contacts as possible.

If I remember right, Pantnagar had close association with the University of lllinois, Urbana-Champaigne and UIUC is one of the best places to look for a PDF position.

Hi Mukta,
Dr. Birbal Singh has hit the right cord. You have to look for groups and organisations who have been working in your field, find their contact details and send them a mail stating ur interest.
When you turn up to conferences, you get the whole record/booklet/CD of speakers, guests etc, who come to attend the conference. This way you can get their contact details, background of their group/organisation, their active workfield etc and will be much easier for you to get in touch with them. Moreover, international conferences usually have updated websites, where the talks and abstracts of the speakers are registered along with their group details. This can be a good start to you.
Good Luck !

Kiran
