Dear Friends,

We (the Jat community members) have been discussing about meeting in December.

Lets start working on it.

During this meeting we can have the following -

1. Brainstorming about social issues and what needs to be done.

2. Cultural event.

3. Visit to a village along with some activities. It could be overnight stay too if people feel fine for it.

4. Personally, I am a man and believer of action/work. If we plan to get together we should be able to do some creative work and not just shake hands.

We want inputs on

a) suitable dates - finally we will ve to agree for one.

b) the events you would like to be part of.

Please everyone, a feedback is needed on this at the earliest.

Warm Regards

Navin

I am posting this message on jatland_seva, delhi_jaat_meet, jatland.com. If there is any other forum, do let me know. We need to unite in our efforts.

Thanks Navin, for starting up the thread. Yes, we are hopeful to achieve something from this meeting. As Navin mentioned, our commitments should realize into actions otherwise talks don't serve their purpose. So far, tentative time is between 25Dec to 10Jan... We also need lot of volunteers who can help in execution of event... Exact agenda and outline of events will be posted later...

Thanks
Vinod

24th/25th Dec, agenda

24th/25th Dec is a weekend and it could be a fine time for this gettin g together from the dates provided by everyone till now.
People who are in, as of now-
Dev Sir?
Vinod Sangwan
Mukesh Kumar
Navin Farswal
Shailendra Tokas
Jitender Mehta
(This list has to grow)

Lets hit the nail on the head. To the point: -
The Event -
1. Location Delhi/Gurgaon - Maharja Surajmal Institute, Delhi is one possible venue. (Venue wont be a problem and can be arranged free of cost)
2. Organising the event, group discussions, talks, tea/food - no problem.
3. How many would want/prefer to have a cultural event - folk songs etc
4. How many would prefer a village visit (maybe overnight/daytime)

The Work -
1. Starting a project to spread education (more importantly -awareness). Visits to villages and schools.
2. Starting a helpline for those needing help as economically weak, physically handicapped, orphan, elderly, or simply students looking for career counselling.
3. Meeting leaders - well, you can even meet the CM but would it help in any way(because he only has his agenda in mind)?

We should not think of changing things overnight and simply concentrste on starting the work. If we remain sincere results will follow.

Thanks Navin for the place. Folk songs will be great!! Include in village trip.

Followings to made note of

Navin bhai, please have a group of atleast 10 people from now on ready to share the responsibilities of organising this show. I admire your guts and Josh and i am sure you alone will be able to move things a lot but remember the followings and act accordingly:

1] Remember it will be winter and hence the show has to be organised in such a manner that people can fall back to their pre-selected places for rest &sleep during night after the meet otherwise it will be a tough task[specially gudd-de kathhe karna]
2] Expenditures incurred be made note of and be shared by all subsequently except the students and those who are not earning.
3] Kindly involve Maj Kulwant and Uday dahiya and Kanta as they will be of immense help to you apart from Shailendra bhai and Delhi Jats in general.
4] if you plan visiting a village then the village has to be selected now and people of the village requested for kind of co-operation solicited from them, otherwise they won't bother....Ittne seedhe-sadhhe bhi na reh rhe sein ibb mhare gaam aale.
5] Make a blue print of things to be done and organised and they way we are going to go about it....no deviations there after.
6] Thing which will be in demand will be...CHAI-Coffee .....Remember
7] Agenda should be in place and it should be made sure that the meet is organised in a professional manner...otherwise too casual an approach spoils the show.

List is not exhaustive but these will be important points for consideration. Let us organise it in a sophisticated manner with simplicity in our conduct.

Wishing you all a great success.

winter meet

great thought...count me in....I can strum a few chords on my guitar if someone out there is willing sing...I can even ask my friends to perform as a band if the cost of hiring the sound system is taken care of.

Every one is invited to join in.
(People keep confirming participation in advance, else we will run short of time coz we have to plan logistics)

Respected Dev Sir,
Thanks for the points. Also please confirm whether you would be coming.
Well, definitely Uday Sir, Kanta madam and others will be involved.

1. tea, food, snacks, bonfire, hookaa, will be taken care of.
2. audio will be there, visual aide we will try
3. my nanaji is a sarpanch in village barhana 45 km from Delhi on rohtak road. People should be willing to stay in village conditions, though they will be taken well care of. Visit to school, the fields and around village can be organised
4. Expenditures will be kept to minimum but the expenditures incurred will have to be shared in advance. 90% things will be made available free of cost, 10% will ve to be paid for.
5. A cultural group can be called for folk songs/jokes. (we will have to pay them)

The event will be a daytime event (visit to the village and overnight stay can follow)

I will be too happy to be part of

My dear Navin, God willing i will be there to share the expirience. I am excited about the whole concept. Thanx.

Dear All,
A few thoughts -
1. My personal experience and principle is to keep things simple and straight
2. The purpose of us getting together is to do a little good work. If we plan to set up an elaborate organisation first, it will be a long time before we will be able to do some good work, if at all we are able to. There are a lot of organisations/societies that have been set up, funds have been raised, buildings have come up but if we talk about bringing out a social change, its a big zero. The villages continue to be the same - poor hygiene, no addressing of any social issues, poor education and awareness, pathetic conditions in schools. If we plan to make any difference, we need to do some ground work.
3. I have worked with a number of NGO's in the past and i have seen that in most cases 99% efforts and funds are used up to run the organisation itslef, 1% may reach the cause. To call a stick a stick and a spade a spade.
Lets come together with a positive frame of mind.

The event can be a place to come together, interact, identify with our roots and ofcourse put our heads together for doing some good work.
In my opinion, the village visit (for those of us who are intending work) is a must. It will give us all a better idea of the on ground situation.

Regards
Navin

Dear Navin Bhai,

Our family is your great admirer. Since we should be in India during Dec 17th 2005 to 02 Jan, 2006. Any date during this period would suite us.

To make the get together fruitful andinteresting too it is good idea to include the cuktural events. Let our children also get a positive exposure to our culture.

As regards the social issue are concerned, there are so many of them so let us pick up few most important ones and initiate constructive work.

I personally feel if we want to work let us keep the politicians away as much as possible.
