Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda, who was blamed by a former air hostess in her suicide note, has resigned. His resignation comes on a day the Delhi Police registered a case of abetment to suicide against him. Geetika Sharma, a 23-year-old former air hostess with the domestic MDLR Airlines, committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Ashok Vihar in North-West Delhi on Saturday.

"I have resigned so that there is no hindrance in the investigations... These allegations are without basis... I don't know how it happened; investigations will bring it forth... They say I have harassed. I don't have any direct relations with any employees," said Mr Kanda.

According to the police, a suicide note was found in Geetika Sharma's apartment that blames Mr Kanda, the Minister of State (MoS) in the Home Ministry in the Haryana government and also the Chairman of the MDLR Airlines. He also owns a fleet of hotels including the Park Plaza in Gurgaon. The MDLR Airlines ceased operations in 2009.


The police have booked the minister under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for abetment to suicide and a team has been sent to Mr Kanda's home in Gurgaon.

"I'm ending myself today because I'm shattered inside. My trust has been broken. And I'm being cheated. Two people responsible for my death are Aruna Chadha and Gopal Goyal Kanda. Both of them have broken my trust and have misused me for their own benefits. They have ruined my life and now they are trying to sabotage my family members," Geetika wrote in her suicide note.

Geetika's family alleges that she was mentally tortured by Mr Kanda.

"When the airline's operation was suspended, Mr Kanda offered her another job. She refused that offer and joined Emirates in Dubai. He then wrote a letter to Emirates stating that she had a bad character, which lead to her termination," alleges Gaurav Sharma, her brother.

He also says that when his sister returned home in 2011 she joined Mr Kanda's company after he convinced her but she was allegedly 'mentally tortured'.

He also mentions that the suicide note left behind by his sister said ... "They have taken advantage of the innocence of my parents. I am doing this to prevent myself from this torture."

The police are now investigating these allegations but have still not managed to contact Mr Kanda.

Meanwhile, Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda promised action. He said, "I have come to know about this. I am finding out the details...let me check the facts. We will take appropriate action." The Opposition however has demanded the resignation of Mr Kanda and dismissal of the Haryana government over the case.

Leader of the Opposition and INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala today demanded that a DNA test be conducted on former Minister of State for Home Affairs, Urban Bodies and Industry and Commerce Gopal Kanda for allegedly fathering an illicit child from a woman named Ankita as alleged in the suicide note of 23-year-old former airhostess Geetika Sharma.
“A DNA test should be conducted on Gopal Kanda to check the veracity of the allegations levelled by Geetika Sharma in her suicide note,” Chautala told a press conference here today.
Chautala, who circulated the copies of the suicide note, demanded the arrest of the former minister and his disqualification from the Haryana Assembly.
“Since the case has been registered in New Delhi, the INLD will write to the Delhi Lieut-Governor to expedite the probe,” he said.
Demanding the dismissal of the Hooda government and imposition of President’s rule followed by fresh elections in the state, the INLD supremo alleged that “criminal elements” were having a field day in the state against the backdrop of political patronage to them.
Taking potshots at the Hooda government for its various acts of omission and commission, Chautala claimed that yesterday’s incident involving Kanda was not an isolated one.
“A series of incidents over the past several months has shown that the ruling party cares two hoots for the rule of law and criminal elements are ruling the roost," the INLD chief alleged. He said he had written a letter to Governor Jagannath Pahadia, demanding the dismissal of the Hooda government and holding of fresh elections in the state.
Alleging that Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was at the mercy of Independent MLAs like Kanda to run his government, Chautala alleged that corruption had crossed all limits in Haryana.Chautala refuted allegations that Kanda had been close to him before his election as an Independent candidate from Sirsa in the 2009 Assembly elections. “We had no personal or professional relations with him at any stage,” he said.

She was working as flight attendant in MDLR airlines. fer is lalaji ar Geetika ke beech dosti huyi. kuchh time baad anban huyi to Geetika ne MDLR se resign kar diya. lala kanda with his sustained efforts brought her back to MDLR and this time as a Director. inme fir jhagda / anban huyi. Geetika left MDLR for good this time and joined Emirates Airlines later on. tab kanda ne fir apni jyaat dikhaayi, he wrote to Emirates Airlines' administration launching a scathing attack on Geetika's character. As a result of which she was fired (or resigned, not sure). This is probably one of the many low-life acts jo kanda ne kiye honge Geetika ko tang karne k liye. He would have made her life a living hell because committing suicide is the last resort where a helpless victim would turn to. saja to isne aisi milni chahiye ki ye saare tharki politicians kaan pakad len.

Par chidiya jaal me fassi koni suthri dhaal is dhaid ke.. Fer iske ghar ne ana jana shuru kar diya eehne.. Parpanch to sare rach diye the is rehdi aale ne, par hath kuch ghaat e laagya dikhe se!

..........................Around two months ago, she was sent to Singapore for business visits and Kanda used to accompany her often.

.........Sources said Sharma held a top post in the management and had accompanied Kanda during his visits to Goa.

हम्बे.... हुडा के भी रडक रा था यो तगड़ा......... उस के mla पूरे हो रे सें एब्ब..... 41 तो कांग्रेस के + पांच हजका आले + एर और बाकी जीभ बगाए-ओड़ निर्दलिये...... एब हूडा ने जरूत भी कोणी थी इस कराड की... एर यो कराड समझा कोणी इस बात ने .... हवा में इ रह्य.....
एर चौटाला आले छोर्यां का टेम हो ए ( सरकार उनकी हो ए ) तो यो कराड हरयाणा छोड़ जाना था पक्का.... एर अगर इसा होया तो छोड़ जागा..... नहीं तो इसके भुंडा रगडा लागेगा...
