Govt slashes health budget by 20%

Whats amazing is that not a single newspaper or news channel has covered it! Who controls media?

Yes. And no debate or critique anywhere. If you notice, the original report quoted is by Reuters, a foreign agency. If not for them our mainstream media would have blacked this news out. This does show whoever is in govt. BJP or Congress, they influence the media. No difference.

Given the miserable condition of medical facilities in India, especially in rural areas, the allocation to public health should have been increased instead of reducing. The logic behind reduction is not understood. A wider section of Indian population may not afford to go to the expensive private clinics for treatment.

It is also reported that "In addition to the healthcare budget, the finance ministry has also ordered a spending cut for India's HIV/AIDS programme by about 30 percent to 1300 crore rupees ($205.4 million).

India had the third-largest number of people living with HIV in the world at the end of 2013, according to the UN AIDS programme, and it accounts for more than half of all AIDS-related deaths in the Asia-Pacific.

In October, India was on the brink of running out of a critical medicine in its free HIV/AIDS drugs programme due to bureaucratic delays. A crisis was averted with the assistance of pharmaceutical companies and global health organisations.'' ---Source :http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/india-slashes-health-budget-already-among-world-s-lowest-report-638877

India Slashes Health Budget, Already Among World's Lowest: Report

I was watching one program where they measured the air quality of Delhi, there was a high danger mark in measuring instrument. The pollution level in Delhi was three times the High Danger Mark.
