majority of the times it is the chord tht connecting the hard disk nd the comp tht is faulty...
was ur hard disk of the type wherein--- hard disk was separate and the casing was separate?? by the looks of it this seems to be the case...
casing has 1 year warranty nd hard disk has 3 -5 years...maybe u wud want to go to the shop u got it from...

It has seprate casing n m sure dat hard disc is only faulti nt pc.....
as others r readable.....
