As the convention has it, honours are conferred on people with impeccable track record, unblemished/clean public image and the meritorious service to the community or society at large. My congratulations to those who have been honoured, notwithstanding the fact that the criteria of giving away such honours is incomprehensible. It would have been more appropriate if a brief account of the services rendered by the recipients to the community and the criteria laid down for such honours was also made known to motivate others to render their services to the community. It is presumed nepotism has no role to play in giving away such honours. ( Incidentally, I happen to know some of the 'honourable' couples mentioned in the list and have my reservations about their credentials.) I would, however, like to refrain from making any further comment as it may warrant some unnecessary controversy. While surfing Jatland it has been noticed that there are quite a lot bright and dynamic Jats based in London who have contributed to the community in a great way through their rich, healthy and informative writings on Jatland.com. Some of them deserve to be honoured too. Anyway, my congratulations again to all the recipients of the honour and to their patrons. Let us hope, more and more people will be entitled to such honours in future.
