Ashwini Chaudhary, national honoured champ for debutant director for his Haryanvi film Laado, has done it again, certainly made an impact in delivering his new film “DHOOP”. A trail of emotions, bonds of family after the setback of losing the only son for nation, it comes so close to heart of an indiviadual, who faces the time when his son is on the border and has no or little news of him.A true story of 17th Jat regiment, Captain Anuj Nayyar, killed in Southwest sector of Tigerhill on July 5,1999.
I remember the time, during Kargil war, how many young boys were martyred and their bodies arrived in floral tributes making their way to respective houses in villages in Rohtak.People realised how grave the events are especially for the region who lost the brave soldiers, but imagine for parents and kins who lose the soul that they have reared their whole life just to end up for this day! How the dreams shatter and what tremendous grief where all words feel numb to condolence. How our families simply could never dine and everyone’s appetites vanish off just listening to news on 'aajtak/samachar', sudden gloomy indispensable silence that haunted our homes and was the same appalling grief in every family of our community at my place Rohtak and can imagine it being all over India, who were directly /indirectly connected with the war.
This movie strikes at the cord of human element realising how disgusting our society could be, so debauched and immoral that they fail to negotiate the sorrow feelings of a father who lost his only son, have we all gone blind for monies that we have lost the touch of being humans!! Does this mean that we people who feel so proud of our brave children who fought at warfront is all worthless, when those brave sons lay their lives just to be counted as number of soldiers and presented as statistics in evening news or crunch in morning newspapers and the worst for their parents to fight the war in their home on their own lands to maintain the dignity and identity of the lost and live with the posthumous signs of their sons. How hollow our pride is rendered with view of the real price of life shown in this movie.
Ashwini certainly brings laurels to his dedicated work for making a reality, worth to be presented for Indians, a triumph to bring those people in picture whose unsung endeavours are lost in the soil of India, maliced under corruption.
The narrative reviews of the movies could be found on any bollywood site, but to feel the struggle and chill of a lost member or an uncle/friend/acquaintance/neighbour, distant relative,( Iam sure we Jats must have loads of examples to specify) then go and watch it. This movie not only breaks the norm of simple masala three-hour saga, but also adds meaning to cinema. What an immense performance given by veterans like Om Puri, Revathi. They have done justice to Nayyars and added life to the characters. Simply to say, if you are a true Indian, just watch and feel how its being like an Indian especially we Jats who are elite glorious heroes for defence, go and feel the nerves of parents whose gem went for Kargil………..

Hi Kiran, to b honest this is one of the best reactions i hv got on my film. thanks. it is commendabl tht sitting thousands of miles away from ur motherland u r still so near n cn feel so passionately abt the issues abt which even our own society has grown so insensitive n crude. this gives hope to ppl like me who still believe that things can change for the better.ppl wth vision n thoughts like u can also save others frm bcng cynicalabt th rot which is taking place all over.i am so happythat a small n honest film like DHOOP is touching chords even that far.god bless n take care.

Dear Ashwini,I wrote wot an audience should feel after watching your movie.A
true story which people heard like any other crisp news and forgot, u depicted
reality which is deteriorating and rotten and reflected back to society thru ur work.
we need ppl like urself who have nerves to get into real stuff, breaking norms and make waves in ur own stride.Your work certainly is commendable and creditable. Thanks heaps for appreciating my words.
Regards always
Kiran

kiran ji, i enjoyed your comments about ashwani chaudhary,s dhoop no less than i enjoyed the film. i cried when i saw the film. really it is the kind of film of which everybody should be proud .i dnt knw why but creative arts are not appreciated by our community. even on this site whose members are well read and well placed generally do not discuss finer elements of life. maximum posts are on the humour site but a film like dhoop and its implications on society at large which is made by a member of our community is not discussed. it is not very good.but your comments really deserve praise.

Never better time to watch this movie than, go and watch it ya and give ur reactions on the movie!!
Kiran
