I just saw the video. Frankly, I believe it is nothing but propaganda. I had been without faith for quite a while. Due to recent setbacks in my life, I have kind of become faithful. After seeing a close friend hit the lowest point in his life, I decided to observe the most basic tenets of Hinduism, like observing Tuesdays as vegetarian-only days. My recent lifestyle-changes have given me hope in life. Things have started to turn around for good. And guess what else, my faith is not trapped in a statue. So is the case for millions of other Hindus.
The woman in the video breaking a status just validates her low IQ. She never had a clue about what Hinduism stands for. The mythology, the idols, the traditions are not the end, but the means to an end. By the end, I mean the basic ideology that lies at the core of Hinduism like being humble, being faithful to god, respect the envrionment we live in, love the beings who share that environment with us etc.
My faith does not lie in idols. But, it lies in the peace and meaning it has brought to my life. Someone breaking idols and making Youtube vidoe clips of them doing it makes me have nothing but pity on them.
May their god of choice give them wisdom and the strength to live in a tough world, with a low IQ!
As for you Devika, I think you have walked off to the other end of the spectrum of insanity. I gave up all hope for my friend from college, who I spoke about in an earlier post in this thread. I don't have any hope that someday you will stop bothering about all the kooks in the world and start thinking about how to make this world a better place. And that my friend starts by improving your own quality of life.
Stop worrying about crazy people and the things they do. It will only raise your blood-pressure and you will age prematurely. Think about which Adam Sandler/Seth Rogan movie you would like to watch tonight and laugh till your eyes pop out.
Go out and make firends with people who do exciting things. Spend more time away from the "Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade" channel on Youtube. We already have enough nuts in the world. Trust me we will do just fine with one less nut.
