Hi fellows:

Let us utilize our energy for positive thinking. Here are a few real life situations. These situations convey different themes. Give your honest answers to the best of your spontaneous actions/reactions.

Note: Your answer should reflect what you WOULD do and not what you SHOULD do.

Case 1. You are at a pond which is rather deep and you can’t swim. A small kid falls in the pond and is about to drown. What will you do?

Case 2. Three/four strong guys just kidnaped a 20-year girl and they are taking her in a nearby house. They will certainly misbehave with her. No one else is around except you. If you interfere with them, they are going to beat your head. What will you do?

Case 3. You are alone at your tubewell in your farm. In the night 4-5 big strong guys show up and they are ready to take the motor away. What will you do?
 
What I should do?
- No points for guessing. I should try to save all three (boy, girl and motor).

What I wud do?
- Can't predict.
Actually, it difficult to tell what i'll do in such situations....
In my opinion, human decision making procees is very complex and depends on lots of other things at that point in time. So without being in such situation, it's not possible for most people to predict their response. Otherwise in general if someone put this question then most of the junta will give morally correct answer (including me ;-)).

This situation does not have to be in the US. What would you do in India? There is no 911 there!

'Dharam Sankat' mein daal diya appne to poore JATLAND ko? Koi chuskta e konya!!!Let me try. Waise bhi 'Fauji' ka dimag gutne mein ho se. Bhool chook maaf.

In the first instance I shall jump to save the child ONLY if I know how to swim. If I am a non swimmer I shall jump to save the child only if I see that few people are not so far away and may be they too will jump to save two drowning individuals, the child and me. But if the child was mine, I shall jump irrespective of the fact whether I know how to swim or not.

Second episode. I shall quickly analyse and see whether I can take on at least two of them, hoping that the girl will take care of one. I know the fourth one will run away. But if I can't take them on and there is no facility of dialling 911 or 100, I shall stand at a safe distance and throw stones, hoping some passer by will come to my aid. But if the girl is my sister or daughter, then number doesn't matter. I will rescue her.

Third. I have no intention of sleeping in the farm house. And if I am the one who is sleeping there, I shall be armed and not hesitate to shoot.

You must be wondering why these double standards in the two earlier instances. The answer is simple: That's how it is.

Best deal would have been to invite the responses by email and then paste them all here as that would have been the best way of making assesments. However, since this is an open debate, let me also try to respond.

1. Child drowning: Since Child has just fallen and is still strugling up and down in water, he has to be very near the shore of the pond. Under the condition I will pull out my belt or pants depending upon the distance and hold one leg length of the pant and throw towards child to hold the other leg length. I am sure child will respond and catch my pant's length. After that its simple...just pull the child out.....hahaha..Don't tell me that child is further away than my pants leng lengths...He can't be alive if he is that far away....hahhahaa...By the way I am reasonably good swimmer.....

2. Now let me try to rescue the girl..Since physically I am not as strong as Col. sahab, I will use my brain power more than my muscle power...I will let the guys enter the tubewell along with the girl..wait for few seconds...then I will go near the tubwell and give fake orders to some fake persons and make the guys feel as if they have been surrounded by quite a few number of people and there is no way they can escape now..In the meanwhile I will climb the tubewell roof with few bricks in my hand..Then I will issue another fake order that come out of the room with your hands raised else we will break open the room and kill u guys..I am sure the guys will come out and without looking around, will try to run away very fast....I am sure the trick will work...however in case any one of them tries to look around, he will get the brick on his head....

Case 3...No way....I am always prepared for such guys...I am sure if the guys know about us, they won't dare to be within even one mile of us...and if they don't know, they will all end up caught and beaten up...I am not going to disclose any more what I will do to them....hahahahaa
