Climate change has potential impact on life and livelihood both. As estimated 2-5 degree change in temperature in a century shall pose greater degree of consequences on life, weather, food, water in form of Sea level rise, submergence of low lying areas, frequent cyclone, cloud burst, avalanches, chnage in crop pattern, need of lively hood etc. The various govts have taken up climatechange is a major issue and working to understand the related issues to have a long term stertegy to deal with climate change.

Good information.

Could you enlighten us on what steps/policy/programme Government of India has initiated on the issue.

World class storage facility of food grains seems to be a far cry as of now as we hear so huge quantity of wheat and rice is damaged in stores or stored in open. It must be a priority of any government to preserve the hard produced and procured foodstuff is not rotten in this way any longer.

But it has to be seen if the Government rises to occasion or not and also when !

I will talk more specific to India than world as shifting population and utilizing resources of less dense countries is more complex and involves local concerns ( we have seen in case of Georgia. Within we are already growing surplus food, the thing is we are not managing it well. Few measures we need to take is-
1. - Population control
2. - Protect agriculture land from corporate mafia
3. - Built modern storage facilities for raw food
4. - Improve Supply chain management
5. - Monitor and control right from production ->supply->storage->distribution.
6. - Develop integrated farming structure

I am working on an initiative to build a framework for National Integrated Farming. It would be highly appreciated if people can give their views on Integrated Farming.

As per FCI report in Haryana this year we spoiled Wheat due to poor storage which could have fed whole Haryana for a month.

purposefully it is allowed to rot. now venod sharma's and other cong leader distillary in punjab will buy it at cheap rates (as low as 50 paisa per kg) to make premium malt whisky.

Dr. Saab along with population control today natural resource managements and adoption of new technology among farmers is must. Because where i think our farmer community in india is treditional for thier agriculture activities. So first of all our farmers should be aware about food security and climate change and its impact on agriculture production. They should change themself according to changing climate and increasing food demands. Whereas govt. Should also provide f
storage facilities and training on post harvest management of agricultural produces especially for perishable produces for farmers. Although here some other methods to save food like make aware peopls about food wastgae , food packaging, & preservarion etc also helpfull...

How it matters of Farmers in Haryana , no farmer is happy in agriculture profession because most of the farmers are small farmers. Land holding is small and nobody want to do farming. If the son of a farmer with 50 bigha land get police constable job, he will immediately join it. Why?
We need to think of making farming profitable profession. Begging from Govt will not solve the issue. Only solution is raise cooperative orgn and become group.
