Congratulations to all people of Haryana. Many such feathers will be added in future, the efforts of the Govt. and CM have started taking shape. Hope for the best, the state will be top education hub, efforts are on. This will definitely work as catalyst in motivating our youth to aspire to get into these institutions, be optimistic and think positive.

Hope the current govt ( and coming ones too) give some emphasis on school education by recruiting "talented" teachers into govt schools (not not just "MLA ki List mein Naam aale"). If you equip most of the students then only they can dream of getting into IIM... else it is always a dream for a common middle class student who has never been able to get admission to a pvt convent school.

Once you equip all the students of the state to compete, no matter where IIM is located, they will be able to make their presence felt.

IIM in the current scenario is not going to help the local people as claimed by few of the members here...Given a scenario if you are MBA aspirant and get placed in IIM - Ahemdabad and same time in IIM Rohtak also... Which one he would prefer today? IIMA for sure (unless some rare personal issues). Then how come location is advantage?

Jarurat IIM ki nahi, Jarurat hai basic education system ko majboot karne ki.... Geeta Bhukkal ji & Hooda saab... kuchh to karo !!!

Anil Bhai,

You have raised pretty valid points that i really appreciate.

IIM being located at Rohtak puts the city on global MAP.

Who knows may be 10 years downthe line priority will be IIM Rohtak rather than IIM Ahmedabad.

Any educational institute n specially will big brand name like IIM is more than welcome at Veer Bhoomi Haryana.

I agree thrust must be on quality basic education.

Much as I like this, I do believe it could have been better. An IIM, or indeed, any higher education institution, needs to attract (a) quality teachers, (b) good students and (c) provide a conducive ecosystem that is relevant (in this case, proximity to appropriate businesses). Rohtak will struggle for a long time to come on all 3 counts I feel. Gurgaon would have been so much better and would have made it then only IIM in a major metropolitan area, other than Bangalore. That would have guaranteed almost immediate success.
