Dear All,

For students the general trend is get their permanenet residency in Australia after their studies. However from July 2003 the rules have changed. Instead o fteh earlier requirement of 1 year full time study by internationl student for PR, now they have to study atleast 2 years full time if they want extra points for immigration to australia.
The news details are on http://www.minister.immi.gov.au/media_releases/media03/r03032.htm.

Cheers!

Dear Sanjeev,

I fyour intention is taking PR after course remember to enroll in a course which is of 2 years duration. Or atleast be prepared to study for 6 months more after your 1.5 yr course. Regarding finances following to be shown in bank for visa
Total Fee in university for 1st year and access to funds to pay for remining time:
12000 AUD for first year stay
2000 AUD for miscellaneous expenses like ticket etc

SO if suppose you total fees is 24000 AUD and first year Fee is 16000, then you would have to show
16000+12000+2000 = 30000 Dollars immediate cash or cash equivlaent + around 8000+6000=14000 Dollars which might be avialable in next 1 year to you.

Bottomline
around 10,00,000(Ten lakh Rupees) as immediate cash in BAnk. this can be combination of bank loan or your own funds. The persons whos funds can be shown are you , your wife or husband, parents. grandparents (Both Dada & Nana). Also check the latest rule I think they allow you to show fund sof real brother and sisters as well.

Regarding part time job in Australia, dont worry you will get it easily if you are not fussy. Part time job will take car eof your living expenses. A average student though should get atleast 5000 AUD with him to settle down.

Cheers!!
