India has become safer in last 8 years

Mate, come out of your illusion. Don't you know Islam is only religion that discards any sort of progress and evolution. It's the only retrograde religion which is hell bent to go back to stone aged era. Afghanistan is the best example for the same.

They're getting everything from govt but they just want to stay and live in filth and it's their problem not ours. To add radical islam is like cancer and it's gonna kill islam in longer run. It's already widening the gap between muslims and non-muslims and it's understandable.

Think about it!

A country cannot progress without upliftment of all communities. We often ignore this fact. We often see it from one angle only. What about other side. How much we pay a heed to the reports like Sachar report?

Muslims are ingnored and they are ingnored big time. Muslims by and large live in big and poor states. Even in states like Haryana, which is doing well on most of the social status indicators, Muslims get ignored. Go to Nuh, Mewat region in Haryana and see the conditions of that place. Even being close to Delhi and Gurgaon, the place is lacking basic ammenities. And also check how much money has been spent by Haryana government on this region as compared to other places. Its huge negligence.

Let me quote few lines from the article I pasted earlier on this thread:

"the Sachar report, it broadly showed Muslims to be stuck at the bottom of almost every economic or social heap. Though heavily urban, Muslims had a particularly low share of public (or any formal) jobs, school and university places, and seats in politics. They earned less than other groups, were more excluded from banks and other finance, spent fewer years in school and had lower literacy rates. Pitifully few entered the army or the police force."

"Too many official efforts to direct help, for example by spending more on schools in Muslim districts, also fail. Funds get stolen or diverted to non-Muslim recipients, Mr Habibullah says. Just as telling, far more is done to tackle rural poverty, with job-creation schemes, subsidies for farmers, and prices set above market levels for much farm produce. Muslims, predominantly in the cities, suffer relative neglect."

Marginalised section of a society leads to resentment and eventually disturb everyone in the country and often leads to domestic violence. This type of negligence often leads to an uncontrolled state.

A female is more concerned about being molested than a terror attack. How often a terror attack occurs ? A female has more odds of being a victim of sex crime than terror attack.

You got to read this as well -

ISLAMIC law and polygamous marriages will be denounced as forever unacceptable in Australia in a bipartisan parliamentary report that will define what multiculturalism means for our nation, and state there must be only "one law for all".

Also other efforts from our government is missing. Which is the most and utmost important than anything else:

That is to bridge the gaps between different communities in our country. Reconciliation efforts are missing. We have given it a least importance. Also we lack in understanding radicalisation.

Government in advanced economies take such challanges very seriously. For example, government in Aus has a agency called resilient communities. You can learn about it here: http://www.resilientcommunities.gov.au/aboutus/pages/home.aspx

They cheer the work of different communities and get them aboard and show examples to others. In this way they highlight and award the contribution of individual from different communities. They also allow them share the views like this one:

Advice to Australian Muslim Youth(http://resilientcommunities.govspace.gov.au/2013/02/04/advice-to-australian-muslim-youth/)

Their main excersise is to prevent people from being misled by extremist leaders.

This is what they do :

http://www.resilientcommunities.gov.au/aboutus/Pages/what-we-are-doing.aspx
In partnership with communities, the Australian Government is working to
address factors that make people vulnerable to extremist influences, including
recruitment by terrorists, noting there is not just one path to violent
extremism. Extremists often exploit social and economic conditions, and
individual vulnerabilities to recruit and motivate others.

We are continuing to develop strategies to counter violent extremism at an
early stage, before a law enforcement response is needed.

The Countering Violent Extremism Unit
is developing and
implementing a comprehensive and coordinated national strategy, and develops
initiatives that lessen the appeal of the violent extremist ideologies that fuel
terrorism.

In the 2010–11 Budget, the Australian Government committed $9.7 million over
four years to address violent extremism in Australia. This commitment builds on
an earlier decision to establish a Countering Violent Extremism Sub‑Committee
under the National Counter-Terrorism Committee, comprised of representatives
from all states and territories. The Sub‑Committee receives $2 million each
year for initiatives that help to counter violent extremism.

@Desi

Off-course, State should protect its citizens irrespective of cast, creed and religion. Now, what state did is under inquiry and SIT report is out. I believe, SIT looked into all aspects including up-to what level state was involved in the program. Hopefully, courts will punish the culprits. There are enough stories floating around on both sides. Rather than going theoretic, I would prefer to wait and leave to courts to decide.

@Swaich

Courts run on facts not on opinions and beliefs. Nanavati commission's report is the latest report based on which courts pronounced verdict. Any given day, I would like to believe judiciary than some media reports. Tehelka has all the resources, power and time to challenge any commission and/or verdict in higher courts if it feels injustice has been done.

On media credibility, just recently Varun Gandhi acquitted from hate speech cases. Biggest thing to notice is that video CD of alleged hate speech found to be doctored. Before last elections, every single channel was running his speech. Did they get from somebody? How CNN-IBN sat on cash for vote scam sting is also known. Argument given by Sagarika in an interview to Madhu Tehran is that they wanted to "re-check" the material they had. What to make out of this? In case of Varun Gandhi, they were not interested in checking the material but cash for vote, they went along with tip off from a politician and still, felt material should be re-checked. Electronic media is new in India, more active from last one decade. What others will do, when they come to power, yet to be seen. Lets wait & watch. Activism of middle class on social media is hardly 3-4 years old. It gained momentum with Anna's movement. I believe, if opposition also subverts media and doesn't preform, you will find anger against them also. It's as simple as this. One can name it some kind of organized campaign if wants.

@Swaich & @Desi

Rest my case. Any given day, we can agree to disagree. :) :)

@Cooljat & Vicky

You both represented two sides of the problem. Both things are need of the hour. Muslims are as much Indians as anybody else. Economic up liftment and uniform laws both are necessary to tackle the problem of radicalization. Equal opportunities for all and strong laws for tackle those who indulges in violence at the name of religion are the ways to move forward. Lets hope some sense will prevail in political class on the issue.

You got to be kidding me.

A uniform civil code may be very desirable (for Muslims), but what has that got to do with terror attacks? How will it save the country? What from?

The way you describe it, you seem to be jealous that a muslim man can marry more than one woman. Otherwise, what explains your belief that this makes muslims privileged? Muslim women (50% of muslims roughly) are also muslims - how are they privileged due to this?

Vikas, you have to read what I was responding to. I never said Hindus are responsible. That would make no sense.

In fact, if you are saying there is "durgati", you are actually agreeing with me. It was Jit who was indicating Muslims as most privileged people in India because of personal laws and I responded to that.

Art 44 of our constitution is of no use..we should scrap it as there is no uniform civil code in our country..Now members of other minority groups are raising voice for their seperate civil code...

isn't it funny???
Mate, wake up to the reality!! Stop this muslim appeasement bullshit and stop tagging muslims as 'Minorities'.
Muslims are being treated as privileged citizens in our country thanks to congress's long appeasement policy to draw vote bank. What they haven't got? They got there own Muslim Law, Muslim Universities, subsided haz pilgrimage, freedom to marry more than a woman and produce as much children as they want, their ow religious Madrase, reservation and lot more. But the problem with muslims is they want to islamisation every single thing in this world.

You talk about minorities - the real minorities are Sikh, Christian, Budhists and Parsi .. and they never whine about rights, special privileges, reservation etc.

UNIFORM LAW can only save this country or it gonna be banana republic sooner than later ..

Well, it was reply to Vicky's post about "Upliftment of Minorities".

A uniform civil code will save country from Islaminization. Recently Salman Rushdie said India has bigger threat from fast increasing muslim population than muslim terrorism.

India has a resident Muslim population that is procreating twice as rapidly as its Hindu population. A news documentary by an Indian news channel STAR News (now NDTV) on the population problem reveals that Muslims are refusing/rejecting family planning schemes owing to the instructions of their religious leaders that increasing the population will empower Indian Muslims to take over the government. In addition, Bangladesh has sent more than 20 million of its own nationals into northeastern India - the states of Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland are already flooded by Bengali Muslims, who will soon become the majorities.

Read here - http://www.islam-watch.org/Others/Islam-Population-Bomb-Fastest-growing-Religion.htm

A unfiorm civil code does not have any provisions on amount of children. Even Laloo had 11 kids.

If you are saying that a muslim man who has 4 wives has more kids, well it does not work like that for the following reasons. A man doesn't give birth - a woman does. The 4 girls married to different men can still have the same number of children. In fact, if 4 of them are married to one man, they are likely to have lesser number of children individually as the man will worry about property split, taking care of a big family, etc. By the way, muslim men having 4 wives is very rare in India. There is a sanction in religion, but the practise is of Arabs with a different culture. Some use the sanction in the religion, but statistically, most Indian muslims don't. Ghar mein kalesh ho jaayega. They are more likely to divorce and remarry.

If you are so worried about Muslim population explosion, you should spend your time in spreading education amongst Muslims, especially women. Birth rates have much more to do with that than with religion. It can be proved by analysing data that the number of kids are inversely proportional to the level of education a girl attains. First of all, if a girl marries late because she is studying, the reproductive period is shortened. Secondly, awareness, career and other interests make a big difference in how many kids you want. Thirdly, education gives her a voice to assert herself.

Finally, there are 15% Hindus in Bangladesh. They are the most persecuted lot there. It is logical most of them cross borders to India. Are you opposed to that as well or are you just opposed to bangladeshi muslims crossing over?

Education! Do you think it's possible? You very well aware about the pathetic condition of women. It's only few good liberal muslims who should dare to speak against hardcore radical islam and spread some education and awareness among themselves.

My heart goes out for poor real 'minorities' including Hindus, Budhhists, Christians in Pakistan and Bangladesh and also Sia and Baloch in Pakistan. But I stricly against illegal immigration of any kind.

"Afghanistan is the best example for the same."
Some Correction here , situation is bad there because of Talibans not coz they are muslims .
Afghantistan mei tab Rock Music tha jab humei Rock ka R bhi nahi pata tha.

I know Kapil you are logical and rational enough not to say this but Muslims in India try to project as if Hindus are responsible for their plight, instead of blaming their own rigid value system and irrational thought process (atleast sometimes).

I think the blame game happens both sides. Its elementary human nature to blame everyone but their own self for their misery. If one could look within and analyze, half of the world's troubles would be over. Sadly, that doesn't happen and we are all guilty here.

Muslims blame Hindus for bias and social and economic exclusion, but Hindus (as just seen in above posts) also blame Muslims for dragging the country down with them and plotting to Islamicize the country.

There are many of us here who believe Muslims are the scum of Indian society and India needs to be purged of them to develop. There are others who feel Muslims are responsible for all terror in India. The following is the story of a Deccan Herald journalist who was picked up on mere suspicion and lies were spread by the police and picked up my media to destroy his credibility. The point here is that even when Indian Muslims do try and make an honest living, incidents like these cast doubts in their minds about the fairness of Indian society and administration.

‘I was discriminated against because I am Muslim’

In 2008, a youth was arrested from my neighbourhood in Hubli for alleged links with the Student Islamic Movement of India. He was studying to be a doctor and had no history of indiscipline or run-ins with the law. His family was traumatised, and still is, for he continues to languish in jail. If that could happen to a young, educated Muslim like him, it could happen to me, too, I thought then.

Five years later, that passing thought became an ugly reality.
On August 29, 2012, a posse of armed policemen barged into the one-bedroom flat I shared with four other boys in Bangalore. They pretended to be looking for my roommate Shoaib Ahmed Mirza, whom they accused of plotting to assassinate some right-wing Kannada columnists. Ironically, they had picked him up from the locality just a while earlier. In our flat, they slapped his brother, Aijaz Ahmed, abused the other three and suddenly handcuffed me too. I pleaded with them to tell me why they were taking me away. I asked one of the policemen, whom I had spoken to earlier when I was a crime reporter with Deccan Herald, what was going on. All I got was a sarcastic look. The brazen manner in which we were picked up was more like a kidnapping than an arrest. With my pleas unanswered, my mind slid into numbness. I went blank. I could not think. The story of that youth kept replaying in my head.

My first night in the cell was the longest night of my life. We kept pleading with the cops, including the junior-most constables, to not destroy our lives. During our 30 days in police custody, the cops abused us in every way they could. One policeman asked me, "So, you work for a Pakistani newspaper?" I don't even want to get into the nasty things they said about my faith. I was surprised that unlike the others, I was not physically abused. Outside the prison, though, I was planted as the "mastermind".
When we — the 15 of us arrested in the so-called assassination plot — were shifted to Bangalore Central Jail, for the first two months we were locked inside a separate barrack, which meant we were denied access to facilities available to other inmates, such as outstation phone calls, the gym and the library. Later, when we were shifted out from there, we could avail these amenities, but it exposed us to taunts from others. The prison authorities used to refer to us as the "bomb case people", and other inmates seemed to believe them. They'd say in Kannada, "Enu ide iwaradu." (They must have done something wrong.)I did not mingle much with others. I spent time reading the Quran, that my sister and brother got for me during one of their visits, and taught English and Urdu to two of my co-accused. There were times when I ran out of hope, fearing that I may languish here forever. But then, my innocence reclaimed that hope, and I would feel confident that I would be out soon.

Six months later, on February 25, 2013, I was released. But even before I could get over the police hostilities I had endured, I was told about the the media onslaught during my time in jail. I had been dubbed the "mastermind" of the plot. Some of my former colleagues told me that a senior police officer, who was not even investigating the case, misled journalists that I had joined Deccan Herald with the sole purpose of blowing up the Metro station opposite my office. The media blindly, mindlessly, reproduced his words. Similarly, going by the police's words, the media said "radical literature" was seized from my office computer. That computer had an Urdu poem about Republic Day, written by Sahir Ludhianvi, a Leftist ideologue, who was part of the Progressive Writer's Association.
Honestly, after our arrest, I was prepared for such reportage. That I was called a "mastermind", for example, did not surprise me. But some stories were painfully insensitive. A news channel "broke" the story about my father in Pakistan who "guided" me from there. My father died of a heart attack in 2006. I even have his death certificate. Can you imagine how it feels to deal with such bulls**t? Another news channel said I had Rs 50 crore in my bank. If I had so much money, I would certainly have owned a newspaper.

The way the police and the media reacted to my alleged involvement in the so-called plot has convinced me that there is an institutional bias against Muslims. When you put all the facts together — that I was picked up for simply sharing a room with a suspect, that an Urdu poem on my terminal was interpreted as a fanatical text, that so many other Muslim youths have languished in jails for terror-related cases only to be let off for want of evidence — how can you expect me to feel otherwise?
This is not a new feeling. When I was studying journalism in 2009, I had suggested "media coverage of terror suspects" as the subject of my thesis, which my teacher rejected. At that time, Muhammad Hanif, a doctor from Bangalore, was arrested in Australia on terror charges, which were later proved to be false. There were similar arrests for the Malegaon and Mecca Masjid blasts. The media reports sensationalised such arrests, and engaged in character assassination. It was as if they had taken it upon themselves to prove that the accused were guilty. When Hanif was exonerated, the Australian government issued a public apology to him — something the Indian government has not done for so many similar, wrongful arrests. The media has reacted in the extreme to me — extremely cruel when I was arrested, and now, extraordinarily supportive after my release. I am inundated with phone calls from journalists, asking for my side of the story. Even though I am disillusioned by the media, I have not lost faith in it. That faith comes from some truly fair reporting, specially in the print media. I want to return to work as a journalist.

My father, who used to run an Unani medical store, wanted me to become an Unani doctor, but I was good at languages and social science, and began working as a journalist in the Urdu newspaper Rashtriya Sahara in Dharwad in 2007, while doing a PG diploma in journalism. In 2009, I joined Deccan Herald, where I first covered crime, and then education. Journalism has always been close to my heart. But, I have become sceptical of reportage. I will always think twice before trusting a news story. I want to work on the desk and ensure the accuracy of a story.
I do hope to live a normal life. I am overwhelmed with visitors who have been pouring into my home, welcoming me back, and putting an end to my fear of being stigmatised for life. My ex-colleagues are also in touch with me. Throughout my life, I have never been discriminated as a Muslim. I have always believed that Muslims must stop feeling as if they are victims of the system, and must strive towards educating and empowering themselves. But my six months in jail as an educated, empowered Muslim, paints a contrasting picture — that I was discriminated against because I was Muslim. These are two extremities. And though one positive extreme gives me hope, as does my faith in the judiciary and democracy, the other extreme puts me in despair. I am trying to find a middle ground to this dilemma. I have truly experienced the uncertainty of life. I have reflected a lot on my own life, and if something good has come out of this ordeal, it is that I have emerged a better person. Now, I look at the larger picture of life, and can empathise with others' sufferings. As told to Irena Akbar

Again usual whining story. Have you wondered why only only muslims to blame when there's terrorist attack or a bomb blast? Answer is very simple cuz' 99.9% terrorist are muslims and they kill innocent people in the name of Allah. Here I'm not denying the fact that there're few good honest patriotic muslims are around too .. but this is their bad luck cuz' as I stated earlier radical Islam is cancer and it'll eventually engulf the Islam itself if these few good muslims don't come forward to do chemotherapy n' remove the cancer.

And mind you Muslims are not discriminated in our country, India is most secular country and that's the reason muslims are more safe and more privilaged here. A country where from President to RA&W has been Muslim, from every other top bureaucrat to Lt Gen to every walk of life muslims are doing well and still they whine about discrimination. Utter Bull$hit.

shick-head like Dr Zakir Naik, Owaisi roaming freely and spreading hatred and painter like Fida Hussain could paint nude paintings of Hindu Devis without any much trouble, such freedom where else can you have?

Come out of your muslim appeasement policy mate .. wake up to the reality!

Aur Bualo Pak PM ko, khana khilao, khatirdari karo aur, vida karne ke baad apne jawan marvao. Wah reh mere desh!

It's high time either Indian Army should revolt or Jawans should quit army, why to waste their precious life in vain!!

Sane Politicians .. tere ye Sane log hi to khaa gaye desh ko, latest example is this bloody traitor Omar Abdullah who shed tears for traitors and stone pelters, and an awkward silence for martyrs.

Not just the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, but no politician was present at the ceremony that CRPF had organised to honour its men. The faces of most jawans were inscrutable when the bodies of their colleagues were brought out draped in the Tri-colour. They were inscrutable when they paid ceremonial tribute. But the rage was apparent when they asked if the chief minister cared only about civilian deaths. "Where is the Chief Minister? We risk our lives to protect our country. At least the chief minister should have been present at today's ceremony," a jawan said.

His colleague, equally distraught, said it was an unequal battle on Wednesday as a CRPF camp was attacked by the two terrorists loaded with arms and explosives. The CRPF men, they said, had just lathis. "They deploy us without arms, we lost five men yesterday as they were unable to defend themselves," he said. This soldier said he felt "orphaned" by the CM staying away from today's ceremony. "The Chief Minister visits families of civilians when they die in street clashes," he said, adding, "Nobody cares about our life."

At times I thank god that we have some sane people running the country

Gussa posts ki jagah vote dete waqt use ho to desh ka kuch bhalla ho sakta hai. For votes everything is put at stake. Politicians are not bothered of National interest. They get votes and form the govt without doing anything for us, why would they improve things for us then.
Our attitude "Ye to hota rehta hai" and "Mere baap ka ke ja se" is something keeping us way back. Jit sahi keh rha hai Soldiers ki koi ijjat nhi hai apne desh me. Sentiments sab dhika de hai par unki situation wahi ki wahi hai, infact aur battar hon lag rhi hai.
