In todays world, two new names have been making news: INDIA and CHINA.

If we compare these two nations then make differences emerge.Today the chinese GDP is very high.Almost double the indian.Before comparing we must consider certain facts.
(a)China got independence in 1950 and India in 1947.
(b)China has been a communist nation till the previous decade.
(c)Chinese people are not very comfortable with the business language of the world i.e. English.
(d)China has greater landmass.
(e)it has greater population
(f)It is not as diverse in terms of human resource as India.
and many more these and thats.
The situation right now is that China is ahead of India in terms of the income per person.India today is major player in IT.This is mostly due to the fact that Indian people are more aquainted to English and of course very sound academically.But a large volume of the IT business in India is in the form of BPOs and KPOs.Reason:Good english.
Lately,China has been aggressively trying to popularise english amongst its people.Once that is achieved,a very important source of employement to indian people will get divided.Almost all of the fortune companies have established themselves in China.
China has achieved birth rate control because it implemented the one child policy very aggressively.And because these measures by the chinese,India is poised to take china over in maybe next decade.
Chinese sports persons have been winning laurels throught the world in all the fields(Courtsey:A plan enforced by the athority under which a child is observed to the field in which he is performing better.For ex. if in class2 a child is attending general school and plays sports as well as equally concentrates on studies,then his performance is observed over a comfortable time.If he fares better in sports then his emphasis is increased in sports and reduced in studies and so on)
The basic reson according to me is the honesty with which the chinese government is implementing every policy.And most certainly,in the near future the China is going to be the world leader.Their infrastructure policies are aggressive and honest.And we kow that as a result,chinese cities have become one of the most developed cities of the world.
Because of sincere governance,china i surging ahead.But what about India.It has become a tradition in India to take studies seriously while everyhthing else is secondary.Indian developement(far less than china) is more due to foriegn direct investments and the FIIs.And these investements are going to change the face of india over another decade.But why is India always behind China and what should be done about it?????

Bhai China is still a communist country. Secondly laws are enforced strictly whereas in India laws are made to break and can be changed anytime on the will of politicians (on the basis of vote bank).

The most important reason which i feel is India and its people competing with those who are below us. like we are always in competition with pakistan, which is not our nearby opponent in any sense whereas China targets the best that is US that's why china is a head of India.

Take an example:

We made a Master Plan to make our nation capital one of the best city in the world but all is diluted for the sake of vote bank politics.

law abidder are the losser and law breakers are the gainers.

Hope we can change our country.
 
Independance?

I'm delighted to see people discussing developmental issues as well here.(Believe me most guys are fooling around jokes here.Take it easy)Well Sir, We got independance in 1947.Right.But since we were habitual of getting ruled for centuries, we didnt know what shud have been our governance.We have embraced the most popular system in modern times which is none other than democracy.Good Idea.We have inspired our constitution from matured system of Western counteries like US,France,Ireland etc,and felt overwhelmed profundly.Where is the way to rule India in Indian way.I think we shud have learn more from Britishers.I mean administrative way which we didnt.Empowered democracy is wonderful idea though.But once again country get kind of leaders which we send to houses.China started liberlisation in 1979 and started EPZ,SEZ policy,where we are fighting over erratic way of imposed SEZs.Even China successfuly copied Free Economic zones policy of Ireland(First SEZ in 1940 in Shhanon).Thaty every economic book these start and end with success of "Celtic Tiger Ireland".May be its the Famous Irish Potato famine which ignited Irish people to become wealthies nation on this earth.Sad our Centuries of slavery couldnt inspired us neither do our cultural heritage.Implimentation of any system of governance depends on citizens.We have "Who cares" attitude comprehensively plus we got very brilliant leaders which made states rather exploited states for their profession(now its profession not a social cause).
Fault is with in us Sir.We need empowered democracy.Which requires dissoultion of ego,selfishness,openmindness as basic citizen values.I'm higly optimistic.THings would change definatly all we need determined people.(Good people theory doesnt work anymore).

thanking you all for posting your views plus a special thanks to deswal sir for those very impotant links,i would like to say that it being understood that the problem lies with the polity of this country,the problem can be solved if a lot of commited people enter the politics(some will not do as they would be suppressed being a minority) with interest.But today we want to stay away from the indian/dirty politics and the reigns continue to stay with the ones already out there.
What do you think about a marshial law.Although radical,but this proposal if committed can end a lot of misery and weed out the unwanted.Of course india's image will fall internationally given that it has earned a name for being democratic.But this image can be built.the important thing is that when internal problems are solved then certainly it would not take too much time to turn things around...any more options???
 
Why India has and edge over China..............

Dear All,

We have all been praising China as compared to India. We all know that China and India are going to be the dominant economic powers by the middle of this century.

Dont forget both India and China are developing countries. 33% of the world population lives in these two countries. Therefore expecting overnight change is not possible. However because of the following I feel India will outpace Chins in the longer run.

China started liberlisation in 1979 i.e. almost 30 yrs back where as India decided to opne up in 1991 (15 Yrs back). because of its early start China's stupendous economic growth rate surpasses India's but dont forget India has now reached the 6% plus rate of GDP growth that marks the emergence of a developing country.

India is changing, and changing rapidly. The Mumbai Stock Exchange's Index of 30 blue chip companies has more than tripled in the last 2½ years, far outpacing the China's stock returns.

India lags in the hard infrastructure of roads, airports, and buildings, but leads in the "soft" infrastructure of democratic institutions, free press, and an independent judiciary.

The English language, Democracy, and Freedom of the Press -- is something which gives India an edge over China and will surely benefit Indians in the longer run.


1.Freedom of the Press : Everbody knows the way access to information is controled in China. But dont forget free access to information and the freedom to act on this information results in a climate that respects wealth creation.

2. English lanuage : English gives Indians a comparative advantage in the growing informational sciences and services, while the Chinese advantage still resides in manufacturing. And we all know the future lies in Knowlegde based economy and we have taken a lead in that over China.

3. Democracy : Though our leaders add politics to everything but still feel happy that we are living in a democracy. The recent example of Singhur in West Bengal is an example. Even the ploiticians know that rapid economic developmet cant be achieved solely thru agriculture. We need industries as well. Democray is the best system in which power can evolve from the private sector, not from dictates of the government.


And last but not the least China is already getting concerned about the future implications of its One Child Policy. They are already facing a shortage of young workers and the siltuation will worsen in the next couple of decades. And with the existing population getting older they will have to spend a lot more on health and welfare. Whereas India has a vibrant young population to support the economic boom that we are currently experiencing.

I strongly feel that in the coming 10-15 yrs India will surely overtake China.

Dear All,

I would like to add a few more facts to my previous post (above) regarding the disadvantages of China's One Child Policy:

Now that China has build a massive manfacturing industry therefore it naturally need an equally productive work force to keep the show running....but the communist giant is facing a shrinking workforce as a fallout of its One Child Policy the future of Chinese Industries does seems bleak.

China 's working-age population will peak at 1 billion in 2015 and then shrink steadily. China then will have to provide for a graying population that has limited etirement benefits

By mid-century, India is expected to have 1.6 billion people - and 220 million more workers than China.


That could be a source for instability, but a great advantage for growth if the government can provide education and opportunity for India's masses.

China in Long term plans and objectives
in 1962,the thinking was that China can't attack India till the railway line from peking to Lahsa , the did attack us on 20 th October of that year ,but continued constructing the line made ready a few months back, there is a talk of diverting the river Bharamputra to augment their water supply, China started developing the Gawadar port in Pakistan not so much to help Pakistan as to open a route to itself

What India can learn from China

recently Encouraged by the economy growing at nine per cent, Finance Minister Jee on Monday said it would not be wrong now to compare India with China though there was a lot to learn from the neighbour, especially execution of projects in time.

"China and India in many ways complement each other but in many areas we compete with each other," Chidambaram said.

he said that what we can learn from China is about execution of projects within time, strict discipline and reward-punishment system for those who are incharge of the project execution.

India should emlate China in the matter of infrastructure and there is enough room for both India and China to grow in thie world...

yes we must learn positive attributes whether it is from china or us. its the way of life of nation.
