It is all about Ego
COLVirender,
a) Do we call another Army offr a mr?
b) Do we call another Army offr Ji?
c) Is it proper on your part to spell my gotra, as you have done?
d) Dear brother, I have done many degrees, did I mention all, than how did you persumed that I am trying to show my qualification, donot you feel that at our age, level of maturity & experience, the remark of your feeling great on my being student of History, was childish.
e) THOUGH, EARLIER MOST OF THE TIMES YOUR POSTS WERE FOUND VERY PROPER IN ALL RESPECT, BUT AT TIMES & SPECIALLY IN THE ABOVE POST, YOU HAVE GIVEN ME THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU ONLY KNOW EVERY THING, HOWEVER IT MAY NOT BE TRUE.
F) Any way please donot get upset now, remember this brotherly advice, when you address some body next time. I have no ill feeling in my mind. regards
Dear Sir,
I understand now your problem, but I don't think you do mine.
Firstly, I don't see your rank with your name on this forum. So, it is difficult for any one and every one to remember it at all the time.
Secondly, adding word "Ji" should not offend any one including the Army Officers for that is the mark of respcet in our own mother toung. Thirdly, if "Ji" hurts, you then I used "Mr", since I did not remember your rank by heart and had no time to go back to all the posts where I could find it.
To stress upon a point we really don't have to mention our all the degrees. Well, I am neither as qualified nor I am as experienced as you are Sir.
More often than not our EGO takes precedence on our discussions. While we know exactly the way we are thinking we do misunderstand other person's point of view. I try to give respect to young members of this site, least I would be offending any older member of the site like yourself. My sincere request to you would be to add your rank with your name so that no one ever misses out on that, specially, if word like "Ji" and "Mr" mean disrespectful to you.
I have already said that neither I had been the student of History, nor I claim to be an expert on it or for that matter on any subject. Learning is a life long process and I do feel it is never complete. The day we start thinking that we know every thing, that is the "Dooms Day" for me.
We not only learn from older people, we do learn from younger people as well. On this very site there are pretty intelligent younger people, and I did learn something from them even today.
Once again I sincerely apologize to you, and stress upon the point, as to no matter what words I used to address you, none of them was meant to disrespect you.
I will close my discussion on this subject for two of us who claim to be sticking to the subject of discussion have taken it away, and I don't know about you, but I do criticize young memebers for the similar things. If you still feel agrieved Sir, kindly send me a personal message and I will surely address the issue there. But let us not hijack the topic here, for we would be setting a wrong example.
