Right now, a debate is going on on Zee TV about the movie Nishabad. The participants are off the screen due to acommercial break. I thought, why not to engage our members in this debate.

Participating in the debate other than the Anchor are Prof. Batuknath, his beloved partener Julie and Singhal of VHP.

Main questions of the debate are whether to allow such movies to be screened in the cinema theaters?

Shouldn't Abhitab Bachan have refused to work in this Movie?

I am of the view that even if the was to be made, Amitabb Bachan should,nt have accepted this offer.

My contention is that millions all over the world idolise him and see him as a role model. Although it would be hypocratcal not to accept such relationshops in our society but his presence in the movie would create or rather have created a new controvercy. Already demonstrations are going on in some part of the country particulaly his home town Allahbaad. I also believe that this kind of demonstrations have a political motive too considering his closeness with Samajwadi party.

Interesting!!!

Hey,

Sir I happen to disagree with you. Firstly I dont think that Mr.Bachan should have declines this role. I dont think that an actor should be a victom of his popularity. Its a sensitive subject and I think only an actor like him can do justice to such a role.

Secondly I totally disagree with the idea that this is against the society. There is nothing wrong with some one in love with some one. There are other important social evils that we should be REALLY worried abt, then 2 people in love. Dowry, female foeticide, racism, castism to name a few.

Udit.

Well I have not seen the movies and even dont know whether its has been released or not. But I have read a bit abt the core subjet matter of the movie.

I would only like to say that besides an Actor Amitabh is a true professional and I appreciate him for that. And as a ture professional he shold not be critisized for appering in a movie, however sensitive the role may be. After all its his bread and butter and we should leave up to him to decide what he want to do in his profession. And as Udit has said only an actor like him could do justice to a role like this.

Mr. Bachaan is an actor and he should not shy away from a role because it is contoversial ..... rather he should do more such work ....... because he is not only an entertainer but an artist also and artists have always and must always play an important part in stimulating debate about contoversial matters like these ..

And people should not link the roles palyed by an actor to the individual himself ...... just like in real life he is not the Dewaar guy or the Sholay guy ... the Nishabd role has nothing to do with him as a person .... and he should not be criticised for acting out a role because thats what his does and is his job

People should relax cause it is only a movie. It is meant for your entertainment and if you have a problem with it don't watch it. It is that simple...

Yes it is destructive

And corruption, hypocrisy, casteism, superstition and general delusive behavior is very constructive. What kinda question is this - are you high?

My friend saw it on its premier n she praised it... critics are praising it. However i have not seen the movie. But in one or way or other a movie brings out good and bad points of society and it is on viewers how to take them

For Instance, Rang De Basanti was praised so much but does anyone really have gutts to do the kind of act shown in it? Even if we get the gutts would the same people who are praising the youngsters in the movie praise and support them?

Life is so Filmy and films are so full of life!!!!

Bhai saab, u r right in saying that he didn't become a deewar or sholay guy just because he acted in those movies but the problem comes when he gives a statement in TOI that what's bad if a 60 years old person loves a 18 year old girl.
In earlier times, there used to be bemale vivah(bad match marriges) , when old males used to marry very young girls & many of our reformists(Swami Dayand & a few more) have fought against this bad practice to get the things in order.
To me, this statement seems like a statement that encourages the bad practice of Bemale(bad match) vivah.

Hey,

I think u are not taking this in the right context. This is not abt geting someone forcefully married but 2 ppl in love. Entirely different.

my 2 cents...

Havent seen Nishabd yet, so not in a position to comment on the movie per se. But whatever I know superficially of Nishabd reminds me of Jogger’s Park, another movie very close to this theme. That was one awesome movie, very well made, very true depiction of the emotions, very sweet movie, very close to real life.
Whats the harm in showing “hush hush” areas of real life, in a dignified manner in reel life? In fact its quite commendable that we have these people in the industry who dare to pick themes like this.

cool movie

its very gud movie..typical ramu style....very gud adaptation of the mentality of a person....full marks to movie..

So far playing a role is concerned....there's nothing wrong in it but when it comes to implimenting that role on one's own life it becomes controversial, if theres nothing wrong in 60 YRS oldman falling in love with 18 YRS old girl then Why could not Amitabh fight to marry REKHA she was a perfect match. 60 Yrs old man can fall in love with an 18 yrs old girl but what about the Wife and the Daughter of similar age of his Girl friend? WHO WERE ACTUALLY LEFT 'NISHABD'?

Age is just a No.

Factually incorrect. Read Satyartha Prakash in which Swami Dayand clearly states that ideally a 24-year-old girl should marry a 48-year-old male.
Not exactly 18:60 ratio but a huge gap nevertheless.

Anyway, I m not against any relationship although I would be tempted to bet against the longevity of it. If not for any other reason

, for the sheer fact that he's a 60 year old and (ahem) might not last long (spare the pun).

But you may say: Babu Moshai! Zindgi badi honi chaiye, lambi nahi.

Ji kabir ji, bilkul sahi kaha ki satyarth prakash mein ye hi likha hai aur maine padha bhi hai(male 48 & female 24 is said to be uttam vivah) parantu shreeman ji pehli baat too aaj ke samay mein 48/24 hi laagu nahi hota aur doosri baat there is a lot of difference between 48/24 & 60/18.

What is the recommended age of a girl for a boy of 24 as per Satyarth parkash?

Sir, as i have already stated that 48/24 is not possible or practical now but it used to be practical and hence a practice in ancient times & when we say ancient times then we surely don't talk about marriage of a 24 year old boy.
and many things said by Swami Dayanand are said according to the times(when they were said)
& we need to understand that Satyarth prakash is not going to serve as a merriage age recommendation book it will be better that we take this book as a best practices book, which is based on scientific phenomenon.
