Is there good side to corruption and black money?

Though corruption and black money is to be condemned in all its forms, however, lately I strongly believe that there is a good side to black/ invisible money. The way the white economies in the west are collapsing one after another, role of black money becomes very important under such circumstances. Let us face it that irresponsible governments play with our white money. Black money is what can save a nation from the collapse under such conditions. Black/ invisible money provides the safety net when white economy collapses in the hands of irresponsible government and greedy corporate. We need to separate corruption from black money. In my view corruption is bad. However, there is good side to black money. Black money needs to be defined differently. In my view irresponsible governments are like thieves. Black money is one way of hiding money from thieves.

The unaccounted black money has caused high inflation in India. Black money in property has made it so harder for Indian Citizens to survive. At this point of time, it is hurting Indian Economy very badly. I do not see any reason to defend black money.

Further - From your post, RK uncle ji, I feel that you are trying to separate out two things which are tightly linked --- black money and corruption!!! You are saying that black money can help any nation...... every single paisa which has no known and legal source is called black money. You give Rs 5 note to a bus conductor to buy a ticket and he doesnt give you the ticket and slips the note into his pocket --- that note becomes black money immediately as it is not accounted for. Dont you think that conductor is corrupt in that case?

I feel that black money can be accumulated only with corruption in 95% of the cases...!!! Someone who doesnt pay the taxes and accumulates blackmoney is also corrupt. He is evading taxes - laws of the country and hence the reason. He is keeping the money which belongs to others - Country's Govt and its citizens in this example.

Do you mean Sonia Gandhi has black money in Swiss banks but she is not corrupt... or otherway round?

What has the "black money" done to save an economy from collapsing in the long term? What is the role of black money in collapsing an economy?

If India is not that much impacted by the economic slowdown then it is because of our conservative financial planning approach. Living on credit is considered bad in Indian society and hence there has never been the artificial ballooning (except for real estate) of the economy that could burst. Any economy is fueled by real consumption in white not black.

On other hand, it is the black money that leads to greedy practices, both by the corporate world and the governments. It causes inflation and artificial hike as seen in the real estate sector. If the Indian economy ever goes for a toss, it would be because of black money only.

As far as inflation is concerned its the total amount of money in market (white+black) which matters. Hope I am not wrong on this as far as my limited knowledge of economics is concerned. White money at the hands of financial institutions and government is put to more misuse than the black money in the hands of a tax evader. Tax evading businessman uses black money in his business most of the time which in turn helps economy. White money at the hands of irresponsible governments is often wasted in populist schemes like NERGA, Mid day meals etc. I am not saying that black money is 100% good. All I am saying is that black money also has some good side to it. Fundamental question is that the value of money (black or white) is only to the person who really earns it. Governments do not earn money in real sense. They only collect money and then use it in somewhat arbitrary manner. Black money plays the role like a capacitor in an electric circuit. In my view there is a difference between a person earning money through work and hiding part of his income as black money and another person extorting money in bribes and then hiding it. First is economic crime and second the full scale crime. Its the first type of black money I am talking here. Governments are like a milkman who will often milk the cow dry and leave nothing for the calf. Hope I am able to clarify my point.

Dear, Black money not only responsible for inflation but it imbalances economy, icreases rates of real estate/gold etc, increases govt expenditure, make life difficult for everage earning people, increases corruption and I feel it has no positive/good side/effect

Because the Khangressis do long term planning ensuring that even if they are not in power in future, no one can touch them.

They entered into various DTAA agreements with foreign govts., thereby including a clause for non-disclosure of names of foreign bank account holders. In case the govt. discloses the names, it would jeopardize any future cooperation from the foreign govt.

Why was such a secretive and dubious clause included in the agreements by successive Khangress govts????? Whom did Khangress wanted to shield?

Unlike the Khangress govt., BJP govt. is at least working on it steadfastly.

As a responsible govt. BJP govt. is bound by such international agreements. It is working to find a way through courts to circumvent this problem and I am sure in the times to come a lot of explaining would be required to be done by Khangressis when the names are ultimately made public.

lately I strongly believe that there is a good side to black/ invisible money.

Here is the economic aspect of it:

If somebody transfers a lot of black (or white) money to my (currently non-existent) Swiss bank account, than black money is good for economy and what not. But, in my present situation, it is good that we bring it back, because I have none, so it is bad.

Rest all is jugglery of words, sometimes you enjoy watching, and at other times you get bored watching.

I didn't say just BJP. Congress also with it.... But BJP sabse jayda corrupted party. Donation hi sabse bada corruption hai is desh main brother.
