Hello Navin and all other members

Enclosed is a succinct vision and mission statement for Jan Jagriti. Kindly go through it and comment.

Best wishes
Priti

Hello Priti / Navin,

Here is my two pence worth...

I have just streamlined the statement a bit...I'm sure its not the final draft but just to give some more ideas...also I feel statement should be written in Hindi / Haryanvi as well.

Vision of Jan Jagriti:
To make Haryana the most literate and progressive state in India.

Our Mission:

  • To Improve Literacy in rural Haryana.
  • To Promote gender equality.
  • To Promote Haryanvi culture
  • To Provide career guidance, opportunities, assistance and networking within the scope of Jan Jagriti.
  • To Promote Civic/Citizen Values.

vision/mission

Dear Deepak Bhai,
Given below is the vision we later agreed on
Vision of Jan Jagriti
To bring about a social change through education and awareness in order to improve quality of life in the villages by eradicating social evils that adversely affect living conditions and progress of village communities

(Village Barhana is a pilot project and after a certain degree of success we can emulate the success in other JAT villages in Haryana, Rajasthan and UP. Our frontiers are not bound by state but by our cause. We can get the govt/administration involved to the extent we can in any of the states.)

Mission
· To provide quality education to students in villages in order to put them at par with the students in the cities. It would involve the following.
a) Scholarships for needy and deserving students.
b) Classes and campaigns to promote English and IT.
c) Career counseling and opportunities.
· Promote gender equality in education
· Promoting sports for youth to promote a healthy mindset.
· Make the youth responsible, aware and conscious citizens.
· To promote education and awareness among all age groups.
· To remove the feeling of mutual hatred and to bring about a sense of unity for the common cause of the society.
· To carry out drives and campaigns against evils like alcoholism, drugs, female foeticide etc.

Dear Navin

This vision is gr8 and definitely if more and more jatlanders will contribute than its not a big deal. As far the response jan jagriti has got is not bad but still i think we need more people who can work with u on ground level. I feel a bit bound in this cos i m not in my home country so that i can contribute a bit physically.
Well there were lots of people gathered in recently held DJM and there were some senior members and younger members also, did u people had some chat on the jan jagriti.

Shailender bhai aapse poochna chahta hoon kee registration ke baare mein kuch progress hui ya nahi. If ur facing any difficulties than let us know so that we can try to get some solution.

Bhai Abhimanyu, Yes, we do need more and more people to join in both at the ground level and also on net. We are planning to work in that direction.
We had a discussion on Jan Jagriti at the recently concluded DJM but we deliberately didnt stretch it too long because Jattan ka discussion bhot danger hoya karai sai and we had an evening to enjoy. :-)
Shailender bhai had handed the documents of registration to me and Bhai Sunil has taken them from me. We are working on it and we will try and get it at the earliest.
My computer was down for a week. Now i will just circulate a letter with latest status and plans.
Regards
Navin Gulia

this sunday..

Navin bhai,

Waiting for the plans, is this sunday fine so that volunteers have sufficient time to plan it out.

Do let us know ASAP.

Regards,

next sunday, 14th May

Bhai Ramesh
Coming sunday wont be possible. We will plan for next sunday the 14th May.
A yoga camp is starting in the village at sidhanti bhawan and a large number of children will be present. I will coordinate and let you know the plan in a day or two. I will circulate the plan via email too.

Dear Friends,
There has been a short break. My computer was down for a week.
1. We are working on the registration of Jan Jagriti. Will take its due course of time.
2. 29 members have joined Jan Jagriti but as mentioned on the website http://geocities.com/jan_jagriti very few have made the minimum monetary contribution that we agreed on. The money being contributed is mentioned on the website for complete transparency. Will request other members to send in their contribution.
3. We don’t have the funds and intention to spend on setting up an infrastructure (it’s a very costly exercise). We intend to use the existing infrastructure of schools, Sidhanti Bhawan and Gram Sudhar Samiti to carry out our activities and campaigns.
4. As suggested by Ramesh we can have a visit planned for coming week. Collecting the people of the required age group wont be a problem but we have to decide the agenda of the visit and the plan of activity we want to carry out.
5. Would request members to try get other members to join the group so that our strength increases.
6. We need to plan a campaign because merely visiting the village wont help. Would request members to give ideas/inputs. I am myself working on it.
Regards to all,
Navin Gulia

Dear Friends,
For the purpose of Jan Jagriti registration as an NGO we need to have 7 members on ground here. For the sake of ease of functioning we need to have those people in this list who are readily available on ground for any official work if need be or for their signatures as and when required.
The required designations are
1. President
2. Vice President
3. Secretary
4. Treasurer
5. Executive Member
6. Executive Member
7. Executive Member

Kindly suggest names/ kindly volunteer. Some names of people who are readily available (and eager to work as well) on ground that come to my mind are:-
Shailender Tokas
Ramesh Lakra
Sunita Hooda
Rajesh Kumar Rathee
Vinay Siwach
Sunil Chikara
Sumit Pawar
Myself
Khushi

This has to be decided on first priority. Kindly give inputs at earliest.
Regards
Navin Gulia

Navin, All these members are sincere and legible people for board membership. I don't know how could we give input in that, but I guess you guys could talk amongst yourselves to see who would like to take what responsibilty. Appointment of these position is important to move further. I would suggest that you could also have 2-3 mentor positions in which people like RKji, Aryaji, Devji, Jagmohanji and other seniors could be requested to join. Even though these people wouldn't able to be with you at ground level nor they could be involved in all details at organization level but having them and getting their feedback once in a while might be helpful. Just an idea, rest you guys decide.

its a great work and its the beginning

Just a few related thoughts -
1. We cant have perfect solutions, we can only have perfect sincerity. We should just intend to do some good work and if we are able to help 5 people and motivate 5 kids, we should be happy.
2. It cannot be an overnight change. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
3. We have to think about the ways in which we can contribute towards the cause. We should all have a minimum aim of helping atleast 5 people and motivating 5 kids.
4. Funds will help and might be needed at times but the first thing needed is sincere action and sincere work. In my mind I am not worried/concerned about funds, I am only thinking of actions.
5. What happened on 27th was an event. Now we will have activities.
My course of action -
a) I have decided to open an education cell in the village for providing guidance and help relating to education. The 9th and 11th std which dont have teachers, i and khushi will be going to teach them on few days and i will try to organise self-study for them and to advise them how to conduct self-study.
b) I have decided to make a list of all un-employed youth in the village and to do all to get them employment/self-employment.
c) I have decided to help the 5-6 physically challenged kids to get independent and do well under the other project ASFA (www.asfa.co.in)
d) I will be visiting some schools in Jhajjar and some smaller villages soon.
More than funds, we need volunteers, people who are willing to work on ground. Sabko saath leke chalna hai. Ekta mei shakti hai.

We shouldnot be critical and negative about things. We should believe in the goodness of people and their intentions. When we meet and interact with warmth and love it alwasy gets reciprocated. I have never run short of good people. When i need one, i find eight.
I was returning that night and my car screen was covered with mud. I stopped at a house and asked the man siting there "Bhai ek dallu paani milega sheeshe pe daalne ke liye" and he said "paani se bhi patla kya hoga? aap aao, chaay paani, roti tuuk sab hai". The point is when we believe that people are nice we meet nice people and my belief in this philosophy is only strenghthened every day.
