I would like to add that my grand father from my mothers side (Hans Raj Arya) started a girls school with much difficulty some time soon after independence in Mahajan in south Sri Ganga Nagar district of Rajasthan. My mother and several other women were educated in that school. I still have a photo of her school function with her in it along with former PM Nehru when he visited that school with a very young Indira Gandhi. I grew up listening to stories of this small group of women getting education in that school. It was very progressive school at that time for girls where besides education they used to have regular sports activities like football and kabaddi for women in fifties!!!!
