Dear Fellow members,
A group of Jat students has come together to form Jat Students Front, Delhi University.
This is probably the first of its kind in DU by Jats. Till now there had been no group/front for Jat students whereas almost every other caste has this kind of association.
These students had held a day long fast in the Campus the day after the young boy, Sunil laid down his life fighting for reservation for Jats in Hisar. This JSF is the outcome of Sunil's sacrifice.
Yesterday evening, some 300 students assembled near Swami Vivekanand Statue in the Arts faculty of DU and payed homage to the martyr and organised a 'candle-march' from there to the Campus Law Centre and back.
They all vowed to be a part of this cause.
I too participated in this along with my daughter, Koyal.
In the morning, I had been at Azad Hind Gram at Tikri Border where the mortal remains of Sunil were being brought this way by the Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti to be taken to immerse in ganga. The cavalcade stopped at Azad Hind Gram as people had gathered to pay home to the martyr.
Evening, I was at DU amongst these young Jat boys and girls. It was great to see our young boys and girls all come together. Many voiced their concerns about the community. I too spoke for about 10 mins. After the meeting was over, a boy came and touched my feet! When he wanted to speak, he was all in tears and throat choked! I and some others calmed him down. Such was the effect of the meeting and formation of this front. I am short of words to express my feelings too. It was such an emotional moment.
I convey my best wishes to Jat Students Front, DU.
regards,
bharti.
