Jatland is generally limited to Hindu JATS ???????????

Adding to Raka's point, adding Jats of a different background will provide a glimpse into the traditions and customs of non-Hindu Jats allowing us to decipher the similarities and differences in further detail. One could share anecdotes or passed-on lore on Jat ancestors and hopefully build a common thread of Jat history bifurcating at various points in history. Maybe this will offer us insight on the last generations that were all Hindu or the first to accept (?) other faiths and the surrounding circumstances. Eg. Sidhu-Brars were Hindu (or some Muslims) before joining Sikhism enmasse via the 6th guru, Hargobind. These stories have been passed from generations and who knows what we'd find if we share extensively.

On the flip side, there are bound to be certain unpleasant debates. As evident, many of us are proud of our religion/customs and may not be receptive to the mingling with others. This is where Mods would have to be proactive. There are many forums with a cross cultural set of members and they have to be run in an orderly manner by direct Mod involvement. Jatland, due to its inherent homogeneity, isnt as taxing on a Mod as others as conflicts are few and generally resolve amicably without direct Mod intervention. So this is also a factor to consider for the Mods.

Excellent!! Hope suggestions or points made do not fall on deaf ears!! I would expect some response from the Mods!

I have already commented about unifying the list of Jat clans. This activity of unifying Jat clans will not adversely affect any research activity on Jat clans or Jat history but will bring all Jat clans on one Index. It will avoid repetition of the clans again and again in different categories and religions.

This activity is not concerned with restriction of membership on Jatland. As far age the membership to Jatland is concerned it is upto the Admins to decide looking to traffic and other criteria.

Keeping membership to Hindu Jats only puts us on disadvantage about knowledge input from Muslim Jats and Sikh Jats. Many Muslim Jats and Sikh Jats send me info by e-mail which I put in respective pages but it increases my workload as Wiki editor. I will request Admins to provide a Window for feed back and other inputs by creating some space on Jatland so that non members can also give their input.

As for writing history in continuity I ask question from the members whether we will stop writing history when that clan people get converted to Muslim or Sikhs. There are common ancestors or deities who are worshipped by Hindu, Muslim and Sikh Jat clans. For example Gogaji is a popular deity in Rajasthan who is worshipped by Jats, Rajputs and Muslims equally. Reason being he was Chauhan who is presently in lineage of many Jat clans, Rajputs and some Muslim called Qayamkhani.

So to get a complete picture of history and ancestry we will have to broaden our scope on Jatland.

I will now narate the history of Kashmiri Pundits in J&K to prove my point that decisions must be taken at the right time for the community's benefit. Kashmir Muslims contacted the Maharaja in 1930 for re-conversion back to Hinduism, the Maharaja consulted the Brahmins who refised entry; and now the same Brahmins have been thrown out of Valley. Our situation is not similar but history teaches us this factor of right decision at the right time.
Jats are under pressure from Brahmins since independence and have lost a great deal since independence; this is a crtical time for the community to decide and make a larger force that can stand us in time of crisis. I would once again suggest that we make this forum all-inclusive for us to strengthen ourselves.

Thanks,

Shri Krishna

This action/generosity could prove last nail in the coffin of jatland.com
Good luck to owners/operators of this forum.

Though I am on the same page as you, could you throw further light on the comments in bold? Where did you hear that?

What sort of pressure!

The silence of moderators and admins is quite evident here. Nobody(Mods or Admins) has even took a little pain to reply to fellow members suggestions.

Does anyone really care at all?

I am not sure if your suggestion regarding format change would ever be considered. But lets be optimistic as usual! :)

Keeping membership to Hindu Jats only is doing wonderfully good work; yes, format change, if any with additional windows, is welcome.

Hi Friends,

First of all my special thanks to Asha Bidiyasar ji for starting such a good thread.

as we all know senior members will not mind in meeting their muslim brothers but the real issue starts when some non sense elements starts misbehaving with them or vice versa ,so we need to make trusts first so that neither they do feel insulted here nor us.

for that we have to keep an eye on the threads being posted by muslims or hindus jats who may to misbehave.
and on practical grounds we don't have that much workforce to start vigilating on the posts .

So its better let the senior members like Mr Laxman burdak and Rakesh Sangwan ji to carry forward with their research with muslim friends from Pakistan and in india.

Rest i have also seen muslims want only muslims and hindu wants only hindus so let the things go on as such for a time being
and wait for the process of trust bulilding go upto its maximum pace.

My wish is to see Jats as JATs not as "hindu/muslim/sikh jats "

Warm Regards,
Saurabh Jaglan

A very practical idea. Maybe status quo is the way forward.

About your comment in bold, we cant expect trust to build without interaction. Maybe we could open up certain sections of the forum like politics, current events and history and keep sections like religion, Khap separate. Or discussion or questioning of any religious practices could be completely banned. There are a number of ways to implement this if we wish to go ahead with it.

Suggestion good implementation cumbersome !!

Rajpal Ji, as I said implementation will require greater effort from Mods and members alike. I have been a regular on half a dozen forums and there certainly are ways to ensure interaction and widening of scope without creating disharmony. I have seen Kurds and Turks, Indians and Pakistani, Whites and Blacks on the same forum. They bicker and argue and every once in a while somebody gets banned but things do move forward and a more wholesome discussion ensues.

Here are a few practical suggestions to ensure new members do not enter with the sole purpose of arguing and fighting:

1. Min 30 posts, before a new member can start a thread. Starting a new thread on a controversial issue is the most common way to create discord or antagonize people. This rule will ensure only members who have the patience to wait and grasp this forum will start a thread.

2. Ban complete questioning of somebody else's religion. Religion is the most common issue that gets people worked up. By this rule, one is free to question his/her own religion but questioning somebody else's belief will lead to trouble.

3. Create a senior's section. To maintain a high level of discussion, we can create a separate senior's section for members who are at least 1000 posts old. These members would be more knowledgeable about Jat affairs and hence will ensure a high intellectual level of discussions.

4. Appoint new Mods. It is possible that with new members and sections, the workload on new Mods will increase manifold. The current Mods can decide who to appoint or invite applications and then decide.

5. Give infractions. To ensure rules are followed, certain punitive measures would have to be initiated. An infraction is like a negative point. One infraction is like a warning. Two in a month as a double warning. Three in a month lead to temporary ban of a month.

These are methods are nothing new but have been used on many other forums. We have to decide if we wish to go down that path or not.

Jaspreet Ji Swaich has given above good suggestions which can be implemented without increasing much workloaad. Mods may consider !!!

Burdakji,

I have never said that it is not a good suggestion; but, its implementation seems to me to be a tedious affair. Yes, it is upto Moderators to take suitable steps to accept or reject our views as per the policy of the jatland.com .

Thanks.
