Jatland Wiki updates

Categorization of Jat Gotras in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

As on today we have info about 1,291 Jat Gotras in Rajasthan.

Also we have info about 951 Jat Gotras in MP.

This you can know by simply clicking State name in Category at bottom of each gotra.

We have categorized each Gotra based on its distribution into Rare Distribution if particular Gotra is found very sparsely in two or three districts in few villages only. This info may be of great importance why the Gotra has only limited distribution.

In all Gotras of these two states we have put Category No Origin if no source so far tells us about the origin of the Gotra. Members may find list of these Gotras simply clicking such Category. If a Gotra is Categorized as No Origin and you know its origin kindly edit under Origin title to add the origin and remove the Category No Origin at bottom.

Click [Wiki]Category:No Origin[/Wiki] you find that 933 Gotras have no info about their origin. You may help to find origin !!!

Click [Wiki]Category:Rare Distribution[/Wiki] to know Gotras with Rare Distribution. We have 1,387 Gotras under this Category.

We may do this exercise for other states also !!!

State wise and district wise categorization of Jats

All Jats from Rajasthan, who have page on Jatland Wiki, have have been put under Category - [[Category:Jats From Rajasthan]]. There are 289 Jats in this category. See at [Wiki]Category:Jats From Rajasthan[/Wiki]

I have further categorized all Jats from Rajasthan in to district wise category also by putting district name under them in Category - Say [[Category:Jats From Jaipur]]

This will help to build district wise Database on Jatland Wiki.

State wise categorization has been done for all states. Members are requested to do district wise categorization for these states also.

[Wiki]Rajasthani Language Idioms and Phrases[/Wiki] Chapter has been expanded and updated.

List of the Mahabharata tribes

I have nearly completed the compilation of Index of Mahabharata Clans, Kings, Cities, Rivers and Places at one place on Jatland Wiki. This list can be of great help to see if your clan ever existed in Mahabharata period. After each name first in English in alphabetical order we have provided sanskrit name and reference in Mahabharata where it appears. This is the alphabetical list of all tribes (clans) of Kshatriyas, names of Kings and countries mentioned in Mahabharata in various Chapters. The Sanskrit equivalent is given in bracket as recorded in Mahabharata with the section where it appears in the epic in the style (Parva.Chapter.Shloka). English translation of Online Mahabharata is given in the style (Parva.Chapter). Here (C) = City name, (F) = Forest name, (L) = Lady name, (M) = Mountin name (N) = Nagavanshi, (R) = River name, (S) = Spot name (T) =Tirtha (Pilgrim) name, (W) = Weapon name,

Really on reading the note I was mesmerized as it took me to the days when a number of times I was fortunate to discuss with him some of the puzzling points by visiting Sangaria without prior appointment and found him ever ready to assist and bless me. I was out of touch with him for a couple of years and was saddened to learn about his passing away.

May his soul rest in peace at the feet of the Almighty!

[Wiki]An Inquiry Into the Ethnography of Afghanistan[/Wiki]

Click the above link of Jatland Wiki !

It is book by Henry Walter Bellew

Published by The Oriental University Institute, Woking, 1891

This complete book has been digitized formated in Wiki format and uploaded on Jatland Wiki.

It is very useful book for Jat history as it contains large number of references to Jat Skythians and identifies Jat clans which were so far not mentioned in any of history books.

Jatland is very much thankful to H W Bellew for such a wonderful contribution to Jat History.
