So, we vote for a person and not a political party. We are quite forgiving too. We vote for a person, get taken for a ride. Come next elections, the person asks for another chance, we forgive and again elect him/her. Who do you blame now for "our" leaders?
By your theory, everyone does "hera-pheri". So, how come you are placing full faith in Lokpals? Do you also need another body that will be check on Lokpals?

Well, Its true that they get picked up by voters but they probably vote to the person whom they considered best among the lot and those who think they all are same probably doesn’t vote.
Honestly, if I become a minister I might do the same, more or less. Everyone does little bit "hera-feri". The first priority for every individual is to secure the future of his/her family, We work hard so that we can feed our family, so that we can give the best to our family. In our fields we have contractors working for us. Do you blindly trust them? No we assume they are dishonest!! That’s why we keep a check on them, that’s why we supervise them. We don’t assume other way round. Same is the case with your workplace. Doesn’t your performance get reviewed by your employer? Don’t they have controls in place? Not to say that all are dishonest or unethical but we assume that and to stop that we put these checks in place. Politics is their profession and in capitalist world we all want to maximise the wealth.
All lawyers are taught to be remain ethical. But do you assume this when you hire them. No, you assume they will always try to maximise their returns. But you think you are protected by law and a lawyer wont risk going against law for little gains.
Choosing Congress or BJP isn't the solution. Both of them are in same profession and would oppose any such act in their heart. Solution is to put more and more checks and create a fear among them before they ask bribe or before they act dishonestly Same way as other professional or you yourself are afraid. This would make sure that before acting unethical they think 100 times.
Lokpal bill is a try to achieve that but these politicians, of course, wont want a stronger bill same way as I wont want my employer to keep looking above my shoulders all the time. Voters are now asking for this .
Voters cant solely be blamed for choosing these leaders but yes they can be blamed for not asking such measures like Lokpal earlier. Politicians dont own us or the country, they are just working for it and get paid as everyone else. What would you, as an employer, do if all your employees become dishonest? Would you blame yourself for that (for their intentions or hiring them)? OR would you first try to make sure that you dont leave a way for them to act unethical?
Whats the guarantee that the next one your hire wont act unethically?
