I was searching for the origin of kharb gotra ... and i found some really interesting info. There is this village in palestine "ISKAKA" they have a few families there in the village with surname of kharb. Here's the link to the profile of that village http://www.iwps.info/en/articles/article.php?id=125. And i also came across this phrase.... Dar-al-kharb also spelled as Dar-al-harb which means house of war/land of war. I am really confused... tht frm where did kharb gotra originated and how many kharb villages are there i knw few of them are on hisar/jind border ( I am from dharam kherri, hisar) and like 2-3 villages around delhi. Looking for some quick replys.

There is a village in Palestine named on Kharub Gotra and also a city named Kharub in Tibet.
The city named Kharub in Tibet is of a major historical significance and its called the holy site of kharub

The Sultan of Zanzibar - a small arabian country near Tanzania and Saudi Arabia was Kharub.

Sultan Sayyid Khalifa ibn Kharub, he ruled the tiny arab country from 1911-60.

A small town named Kharub is also in Israel.

I and my family spell it as Kharub ....... also Kharub Gotra is existent in palestine ....

try searching for Kharub and you will see there are a lot of us in the middle-east..

Kharub in arabic means - severe destruction ....

the expression used by Arabic people to describe total and utter destruction is KILU KHARUB -

KILU - Everything ........................................... Kharub - totally destroyed

Cheers,
VJ Kharub

In Delhi the MLA from Najafgarh is Kharub ........

my village is also in Dist. Hissar ... but my father tells me that we came to Hissar from around Delhi ..... a long long time ago .... ( i mean a few hundred years)

i dont have any facts to substantiate that story though ......

There is city called Shahr-e Kharab in Iran and there there are people with Kharab surnames in Iran. In my view the word Kharab has been taken from numeral kharab which means 100 arab. Ofcourse Kharab means bigda hua also..

1 kharab= 100 arab= 100x100 crore

also there is a place called Ismant el-Kharab in Egypt.
Kharab Shams is a place in Syria also

looks like there are Kharabs all over places my friend...LOL

I don't think the Kharab gotra might have come from some where in the middle east. Kharab as Rajendra ji have said is the word synonmous with 100 Arab number as well as Bigda Hua in Hindi Language. So I don't think we can draw any conclusion about the origination of this Gotra with the names of the places in middle east. Actually "Kharab" is the word from Urdu rather than Hindi.

I guess, the Jat Mahasabha at Bharatpur may be having some litrature on this issue.

Kharb Gotra

I am a new member in this group and want to share what ever information is available with me on kharbs.
Eight villages of kharb gotra are sitated in Hissar district adjoinig the borders of Rohtak Jind and Bhiwani district. These eight villages have a common origin. Other Kharb villages are gumana in Rohtak,Nari paju Sonipat,Tobara near Attali, Mundela and Bhakar garh in Delhi, some villages in UP and Punjab.

Regarding History of Kharb gotra information is avilable from three sources which tells almost the same story. These are
1 Oral tradition as per our elders
2 Records kept by Bhat of Kharb gotra
3 Records kept by pandas of Kharb gotra at Garh Ganga.
According to their informtion the Kharb gotra originated from Tur gotra.
Kharb was the son of Tur King who is famous for its Killi in Delhi.this information is also provided by Mukhi Sansi of village Bhaklana who used to move in kharb gotra villages and keep their records. How far this information is true we expect scrutinization from other members also.
However Iwould like to bring to notice a true story of courage and sacrifice of Kharbs. In first war of Independence fighting against Britishers they captured English officers of Delhi area and gave them same punishment as they used to give to Indians. However when the war was lost,Britishers snatched the lands of Kharbs of Bhakar Garh and distributed it among others.
I am thankful to Sudhir for starting this thread. He
is a Proud JAT with a great sence of humor.
personally I don't think we have any relation with Palestine, Numbers or Kharpatiskars of Vayu puran.

99% Jats have universal links in time and space.. Thinking that influence of Jats is limited only to North India, would be downgrading the contribution of this great race. Jats have dominated almost all continents... Who knows there might have been an entire country called Kahrab like presen6t day Arab? Don't close your imaginations...Look for bigger/ wider links to your history.

Rkk ji,
We cerainaly are not limiting our imagination of JAT race who we belive inhabited from Caspian Sea right up to Arabian sea and further southward up to Karnataka. Same race lived in TOKHARISTAN and gave great Kushan Empire.Even we did have our prescence at the time of Prophet, fact is well documented and many consider Khurds to be jat only. But here we are talking about Kharb gotra not the entire race.
I put forward information what was available to us, it needs varifications.
I suggested at jat history group that if any one race could be attributed the inhabitance of Indus valley Civilization it is JATS known to other world by different names Saka, yuezhi etc;and not the proto-dravidins as belived today. I have my own valid reasons which I will present after some time.

Dear Narender ,

I do agree that oral traditions and logs by village pandits are quite authentic and dependable in tracing back the history.

But the similarity is shocking, Kharub / Kharb both the spellings are present in mordern day Arab lands in significant numbers.

Also Kharub is not a hindi word ... so it does have foreign origin in some way.

I am not trying to grace any foriegn roots , i am a Jat first and foremost and even if my people originated from hell ........... i will be damn proud about it ....

But the similarity is shocking , and as discussed by quite a number of learned people in History section, family name is a Noun and it does not change, peopel move but family names do not chage ...

Now imagine a Kharub who has migrated to the USA after 200 years maybe his family will not have any indian identity, but the Kharub name will be carried on by the male desendants.

Also Kharubs are more abundant in Arabic Lands that in India itself.

So what do you think we should conclude.

Dear Vj

You have just the right approach.Your reasoning definitely carry weight and u echoed exactely my sentiments when u said that we will be proud of our ancestors what ever they may be instead forcefullay linking ourselves to some king. Every Jat should think in the same way. These bards have a habit of linking ancestory to some king.To my querry regarding meaning of kharb to organisers of fourth Kharb sammelan answer varied and was not convincing.Your querries may have one possiblle explanation. In the times of Prophet Kharbs might be living in Arabia in a vast area where Prophet spread his message,Intially they followed same old Hindu religion,so this world was devided in two parts Dar-ul-Islam land of muslims and Dar-ul Kharb world of non belivers or saitan, but it is simply an explanation. Also similarity between their names, using Ram in many names and names of ancient assur king Banipal etc opens new avenues of exploration of the history of these lands. What ever information I gave I said is an information in my earlier post.Ur right approach may throw new light,we may try to contact Kharbs in PALESTINE but an imp. information,The Kharb whose biodata is on internet is the most feared terrorist by Israeil.

I wuld agree with vj here, it seems like kharb/kharub/kharoub r present in large number in middle east than India. Whn i first came across this i was a bit surprised but thr has to be some connection. If u google for Kharoub u'll find tht thr is a guy named KHATRI KHAROUB in morocco.

omg, not again :p. Plz People stop finding similarities in words. It wont do any good. It will only create more confusion among new and relatively ignorant members.

You cant prove anything by similarity in words. Two entirely different languages can have same words with out any real association.

Even if thats a genuine similarity, that cant be established as fact.

I will say one thing: Stop spreading lies and stop living in fantasy world.
There is no glory in associating yourself with foreigners/foreign land.

Thnk u very much, u opend my eyes  ( kuch zaada hi khul gayi ). I am sorry for lying and yeah u r ryt i shld probably come out of my fantasy world and accept THE TRUTH, tht its jus a mere coincidence tht thr is such a striking similarity between KHARB/KHARUB and KHARB/KHARUB ( for the record one in the red fonts r found in india and the green ones in middle east) ::lol:: :D

I knw it can b a case of similar words n m fully aware of tht, but its a SURNAME not jus any other word. I knw I cant prove tht thr is some connection between 2 but neither u can dismiss it compeletly. Whn i came across this i was kinda confused, so i started this thread to clarify my doubts n to knw frm whr n hw this surname originated not to prove tht imma foreigner.

Hmm...Ok, Its not that bad to clear confusion in public :p. Entertainment in any form is welcome .

Sorry for going little offtopic, now you can continue with your middle-east discussion. I am also interested in any other confusion you have :p.

Searching the reason for some observation is a scientific temperament which is always welcome and distractions should always be avoided.
Not searching something even if it may be a genuine similarity just for the reason that it may not be proved is a negative approach and shold be avoided. We can say you are spreading lie when we know for certain what is the truth. Our land and Foreign land is really a myth, entire earth belongs to mankind. What is theirs could have been ours in some distant path.
Kharbs who are supposed to rule Delhi and put its iron pillar according to Bardic traditions are still not ready to take it as such speaks volumes abot their being no glory seekers.
It is definitely true that similar words may be their in two different languages but we can try to contact them via internet and inquire abot their history to find out the truth.
In my personal opinion jats have lived in India since harppan times which was a jat civilization.Vedic(confused with Aryan) cultural influnce is a phenomenon of later occurance.Kharbs(of Arabia) if found to be jats must have migrated from India.

Dear Atul you might be surprised to know that people of Arabia are now discovering that people of Indus valley civilization were living in arabia and they are finding various artifacts confirming this and are proud of their rich hertiage. To know about it please see post of Acharya on Dec.6 on INDIA DISCUSSION FORM UNDER INDIAN CIVILIZATION.Hope it may remove ur middle east confusion.

History of India starts with JAT CIVILIZATION(Indus Valley).

Thanx narendra for your cool answer. But the point i was trying to tell is: you cant prove anything just because two words are same/similar. If we have surname like kharab which mentioned in some other country/language/culture or there is some short of similarity it wont be considered as proof for their correspondence. You can argue your case to any historian. He will probably say: Its interesting but it cant be considered as proof.

Thats why i say lets be mature and dont try to find unsolicited similarity, shall we

Thats what my point is: Similarity in name is not considered as proof for some short of correspondence.

It is well known fact that our ancestor must have travelled from africa and over the time period they must have seen lots of civilization before coming to India. It may be entirely true that kharb is same as kharab. But this may is very big issue. Historians dont consider this as proof.

I am sure you can find similarity in all cultures and languages.

I am just saying that there are lot of people who tend to relate themselves to some foreign race. I just ask for proof. If there will be some proof it will be be some kind of biological proof not the similarity in words.

Bilogically we are not similar to iranian or middle east people. :)

Although biologically every human being is similar to to any other human being by 99.9%.

The fact is our hostory is lost, and it would be very very tough to trace our ancestory. Even if we found out that lets say slavic/iranian people are same as Jats it wont change anything. Their religion is different, their cultrue is different and their language is different. It now only us and us indian Jats who matters.

Even we can never unite with Muslim jats in pakistan. we can never unite with bishnois, may be we can unite with some sikh jats.

I just say that there is no point in creating lies. :)
